In order to help students write formal letters with a purpose of informing and explaining opinions, this planning lessons helps students to think about their ideas, their structure, their vocabulary and other key factors in order to prepare them to write their letters. Much Ado About Nothing William Shakespeare genre lesson that explores Don John, his use of language and how the use of genre in the play can impact ton an audience, as well as how a villain can change how an audience perceives a play. A detailed Accelerated Reader presentation that I gave to parents recently, which covers all the important aspects of the software (including using Home Connect), but could be used to introduce staff to the programme as well.
War poetry lesson that supports students to analyse In Flanders Fields by John McCrae. Students develop an understanding of the poppy as a symbol before transferring this to an analysis of the poem. We look at language and structure in detail, including how the poet adapts the form of a rondeau. A very useful lesson for Remembrance Day, as well as for both KS3 and KS4 students preparing for English Literature exams or unseen poetry.
AQA English Language Paper 2 lesson that focuses on analysing a text for opinions and planning for the summary question (Q2). A fully differentiated and resourced lesson that prepares students for AQA English Language Paper 2 with a focus on Section A Q2. The theme of the lesson is crime and punishment and looks at an extract from a diary all about the use of the pillory as a form of punishment. Ideal preparation for both KS3 and KS4 students preparing for AQA English Language Paper 2: Writers’ Viewpoints and Perspectives.
