Creative writing plot and structure lesson that explores Dickens’ The Signal-Man and is part a unit of work on short stories whilst looking at creative writing. Students explore how the plot develops after the narrator leaves for the evening, how the writer engineers a plot twist and uses deja vu and foreshadowing for effect on the reader, and students also design their own story structures for their short stories.
