In order to help students write writing to argue articles , this planning lessons helps students to think about their ideas, their structure, their vocabulary and other key factors in order to prepare them to write their articles. Students write a writing to argue piece on a topic of their choice. The planning resources in this lesson can easily be adapted to suit other topics and subject areas. Fully differentiated throughout.
Looking at the structure of part of a famous Barack Obama speech, students consider how the former President links the past to the present and creates a link between time and hope. A really detailed lesson that includes differentiated activities throughout and supports students to reflect on structure and create their own short speeches using crafted links between themes in order to affect an audience. Very useful for AQA English Language GCSE Paper 2 Section B or Question 5.

In this lesson we think about the idea of travel and the different text types that make up travel writing, plus we analyze and evaluate the different purposes, audiences and key features of texts like postcards, travel brochures, travel guides and travel journals.
