Based on snakes and ladders there are 8 boards covering the Common Exception Words for Year 1. There are 4-6 different words on each board. Just follow the direction of the sub when you land on the square.

This pack includes all the Year 2 Common Exception Words. How to play Play as a group or in pairs. Players close or cover their eyes. Adult or chosen child hides one of the bee cards underneath a hive. Players take turns to guess which hive by saying the sound or word that’s on the hive. Winner hides the bee next.

An activity which involves matching the letters to the sound. Could also be used in the pairs memory game.

These have been designed to support the reading and spelling of the Year 1 Common Exception Words. Some words have a picture to go with them to help aid comprehension of the word to help aid meaning of the word. Each version has them in alphabetical and non alphabetical order. There are 5 sets included. ai & ee igh & oa oo & oo (u) ur & ow oi, ear, air & er Each domino has a picture and a word. Can be played individually or in small groups. Alternative use - cut down the middle and use to play the memory game pairs.

A bit different to the normal matching that is available elsewhere, as there is for each sound approx 5/6 pictures and sentences for each phase 3 sound starting from ai (ure hasn't been included). The sentence in some cases are also a bit silly i.e A gear with a beard. An ear with a beard. I've only change 1 or 2 words in each sentence so makes the children read for comprehension. 84 sentences and matching pictures in total. Can also use the pictures for sentence writing, or read the sentences and draw the picture to go with it.

This includes two packs: Phase 5 Phonic Flowers - Display version This pack has a flower for each of the Phase 5 sounds. The sounds where they make oo and yoo have been combined onto one flower. The split ee sound has words instead of pictures and some of the others flowers may have words on the petals. Each flower is in parts and will need cutting out. For long term use print onto card and laminate. These can be used as part of an interactive display or a table top where children can attach the petals to the correct sound. Phase 5 Phonic Flowers - Cut and stick Version This pack has a flower for each of the Phase 5 sounds. The sounds where they make oo and yoo have been combined onto one flower. The split ee sound has words instead of pictures and some of the others flowers may have words on the petals. They have been designed as a cut and stick activity. Each flower is black and white or uses grey scale to enable cost effective photocopying. There is a dotted line around each part to make it easier for younger pupils or those with fine motor issues easier to cut. Older or more adapt pupils may want to cut around the thick black lines.

The aliens are all my own design and those who have the same sound but a different way of writing it are the same shaped alien but a different colour, helping to identify sound families. This carries over to the Phase 5 version. There is an alien for each sound and 6 sets of underwear (vest and underpants). Vests have real words and the underpants have nonsense words. This resource has been designed to be open ended and used in many ways. Some ideas for how to use are listed below: Matching – match either vest or underpants or even both to the alien that has the sound that’s in the words. Pick a pair – match a vest and underpants that contain the same sound. Or match the alien to either the vest or the underpants. Sorting – sort the alien words from the real words. Bingo – pick either a vest or underpants and read the word. Hold up the alien whose sound is in the word. Display – make a washing line, place an alien next to it. Sort out which underwear belongs to him and hang it on the line. A fun resource to practice pseudo words and phonics that will fit into your Alien or space topics.

UPDATED This pack has been redesigned and now includes a Set 2 Board Game and three versions of the word lotto (black, sound underlined and sound in colour) Each sound has its own bingo board apart from oy and air which are combined. Use in pairs and pupils take turn to 'Fred Talk' the word for their partner to find and colour. Or sound out a word and children colour the word in or give each children a different board and call out words from a bag. Could even be used to send home to practice. There are different words from RWI so children have more opportunity to practice the sounds.

Right answers will take you to a well done screen with a cheering sound effect, wrong answer will take you to the oh no that is not right with a different sound effect. A fun bingo game suitable for a whole class of 30 pupils. Included are two sets of 30 different boards A5 in size (2 per a A4 page) and a PowerPoint for each set which will random generate a word. All you will have to do is play it as a slide show and press s to stop, and **enter **to carry on. Set 1covers sounds j-ng Set 2 covers ai-er. Ideal for practicing reading words.

This include a random word generator and bingo cards. The word generator is stopped by pressing s and enter to continue. 30 boards has been included but some boards may be duplicated with words in a different order.
