Quote Revision Game - A Streetcar Named Desire
A simple but engaging revision game to revise 10 key quotations from each scene. Start and scene 1 and roll the dice. The students can advance if they can analyse the quotation they land on. You can differentiate it easily by asking for two inferences per quotation and asking for links to specific A0s.

3 Revision Games for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol
3 versions of a simple but highly engaging board game to revise key quotations in Macbeth and A Christmas Carol for Paper 1 English Literature.
Game 1:
Use the 98 prompts to help revise 98 quotations from Macbeth and A Christmas Carol.
Game 2:
Explain the 98 quotations (49 from each text) to advance.
Game 3:
100 questions on Macbeth (includes answers)

Quote Revision Game 2 for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol
A quotation revision game for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol. There are 98 key quotations on the board (49 from each text).
To advance, students roll the dice and must explain the quotation.
This is a follow up to my other game which reverses the process and prompts students to think of the quotations.
Currently in A4 but you may wish to enlarge it to A3.
Quote Revision Game for Macbeth and Christmas Carol
A quote revision game for Macbeth and A Christmas Carol containing 98 quote prompts (49 for Macbeth and 49 for A Christmas Carol). The competitive and collaborative nature of the task means students find it highly engaging.
Can be used with 1 or 2 dice.
It is currently in A4 but I recommend enlarging it to A3.
In order to advance the number decided by the dice, the student must think of a relevant quotation that matches the prompt.
For example:
The prompt might be: A quote about Macbeth’s masculinity.
The answer could be: ‘I dare do all that may become a man’.
Chapter 2 Of Mice and Men - analysing Curley and Curley's Wife
2 lessons on Chapter 2 analysing the initial presentation of Curley and Curley’s Wife in Chapter 2 with success criteria, writing frames, model paragraphs, extension activities and accompanying worksheets.
Also includes a high level model answer on Curley’s Wife.
Also includes an essay plan for analysing how Curley’s Wife is presented across the whole novel.
How to teach functional writing for Paper 2 English Language
A 2 hour training session on how to teach functional writing for GCSE Paper 2. Can be used to train both teachers and students. Contains 64 slides.
Includes exam requirements, a sample lesson, model openings to evaluate, exercises on using a range of sentence types and paragraph formats, a range of different questions to plan and a group carousel writing task to end the session.

I have painstakingly gathered the key quotations from each scene onto one A3 revision document.
This should be a useful resource to help approach each essay.
AQA English Language Paper 2 Section A Mini Mock with model answers
A mini-mock version of Paper 2 Section A English Language GCSE.
Both texts are on the topic of royal weddings.
The extracts are deliberately short so all 4 questions can be covered in one revision lesson.
I use this lesson to focus on using disciplined timings for each question.
Model answers are included for each question.
Interesting sentences for Paper 1 and Paper 2: English Language GCSE
20 interesting sentences to use for writing Paper 1: creative writing.
20 interesting sentences to use for writing paper 2: transactional writing.
To set it up, simply introduce a Paper 1 image or Paper 2 topic and ask students to create the sentences at random.
You can use the random generator PowerPoint to pick any of the 20 sentences at random which is particular effective for engaging students.
After this, I give each student a 20 sided dice so they can explore the sentences at their own writing pace and make their own decisions about their writing.
Guilt in Macbeth. Moving from level 4 to level 5
Lesson explaining how to answer a Macbeth question on the theme of guilt for AQA GCSE.
Also includes a clear level 4 example response and a more thoughtful level 5 response so students can examine the difference between these two bands on the AQA mark scheme.
Also includes worksheets for exploring the extract.
Also includes a grade 5 model paragraph to assist lower ability students with writing about the extract and then moving to outside the extract.
