A worksheet to encourage students to think in an allegorical way to introduce the themes in Animal Farm by George Orwell. Using characters in a typical school, they consider which animal would best represent each of the stock school characters. They then write a short story in which the animal students take over the running of the animal school.
A cloze activity based around selecting word choices for effect and then commenting on the word choices.
Students then listen to the song and compare their word choices with the original.
Includes a differentiated starter, detailed annotations of the scene and then comprehension questions to test students’ understanding of the scene. Not bad for a £1,
PowerPoint to guide students through Act 3 Scene 2 of Macbeth.
Includes a scene summary, annotations of the scene, comprehension questions based on the annotations and then an extension activity analysing the use of animal imagery with an example paragraph as a guide.
A handy worksheet for getting students to find out the definitions of the challenging vocabulary in A Christmas Carol. There are 127 words to find definitions for.
A writing frame to guide students through the following exam style question:
Compare the ways the poets in War Photographer and one other poem (Remains) present ideas about conflict. (30).
The writing frame encourages students to make discriminating comparisons between the poems.
