This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.
For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 35 after the completion of Component 1.
There is one presentations, one is 34 slides and covers HALF of the benefits to individuals of the skills attributes and values in health and social care practice.
There is also a 5 slide of health and social care key words and terms to describe the impact of appropriate professional behaviors to help students with Task 5.
Homework is set at both Level 1 and 2 relevant to the PSA task 5
This package will cover the complete delivery of the spec points below and has teacher guidance for note taking.

This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.
For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 26 after the completion of Component 1.
It has two presentations, one is 65 slides and covers primary, secondary and tertiary health care services with applied examples. The second is 12 slides and covers Allied Health Professionals. There are starter and stretch and challenge activities if you have time. There is guidance and options for students note taking which will be a source of reference in the PSA. There is differentiated Level 1 and Level 2 resources as lower ability students can have subtitles and images as prompts.
Students will be expected to know the job role and services listed in the spec below and be able to recognise which ones are suitable for the PSA case study person with a health condition. Throughout there is reference to team work between professionals to meet the needs of the individual.
Included is homework for both Levels 1 and 2.
The package covers the below spec content;
Health services available:
Primary care – GP surgeries, dental care, out-of-hours services, telephone services, accident and emergency departments
Secondary care – specialist medical care to include rheumatology, respiratory medicine, cardiology, endocrinology
Tertiary care – specialist medical care to include oncology, transplant services
Allied Health Professions – physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics
multidisciplinary team working – how services work together, including referrals between services

This package is for teachers delivering the new 2022 spec for BTEC Tech Award in Health and Social Care Component 2.
For teachers following my SoW, this is for week 25 after the completion of Component 1.
It has two presentations, one is 17 slides and is an introduction into the differences between health and social care services. Social care is included as the PSA case study will face barriers which need overcoming with support which may be social care based. This will be built on the following week where primary, secondary and tertiary services are explained. The second is 27 slides and gives opportunities for paired/group or whole class discussions so students can make their notes on activity work sheets in their own words. These will be a source of reference in the PSA.
Students will be expected to know the eleven different health conditions listed below and have an understanding of PIES needs for each as a stepping stone for looking at the provision for meeting their health needs with services.
Included is homework for both Levels 1 and 2.
The part of the spec covered in this teaching package is:-

• arthritis
• cardiovascular conditions – coronary heart disease, cerebral vascular accident
• diabetes (type 2)
• dementia
• obesity
• respiratory conditions – asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

BTEC Tech Award Health & Social Care Component 3 mock 60 mark exam paper which follows the Pearson format which is good practice for students.
There is a guidance paper for students which you could use as an activity and cut and paste into a walk through, if this is your teaching style.
The mark scheme is detailed and easy for students to see where the marks are.
An additional covers which part of the spec is tested in each question in the SAM’s format. You can map these across and refer to this when going through the answers.

3.5 National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), considers whether a treatment: is a benefits patients, whether it will help improve survival rates and whether it is value for money
NICE also provides guidelines on how conditions should be treated and provides information for those managing and providing health and social care services
3.6 Definition of working in a person-centred way, i.e.
practitioners working together with an individual
planning care and support to meet the individual’s unique needs the individual is put at the centre, able to choose and control how they want their care and support to be
3.7 Person Centred Values; The Care Certificate, Standard 5: Work in a person-centred way – promoting person centred values, independence, individuality, privacy, working in partnership, offering choice, maintaining dignity, respect and protection of rights
3.8 Person centred planning, i.e.
belief that an individual can plan for themselves
the individual is at the core of any planning
the care plan is written in the first person, e.g. ‘I would like to try a walking frame’, to make it clear it is their decision
the individual has as much control as possible over their choices for care

This is an A4 size game board which requires a dice to engage students and test their learning about Anti-Diuretic Hormone controls and urine production, aimed at Level 3’s.
Print off back to back and preferably laminate the cards. The instructions are included, working in pairs.

OCR Cambridge Technical Level 2 Health & Social Care delivery and assessment planning for the year and a programme of work, week by week for units. There’s a student tracker and an overview of the qualification for students for an Open Evening or at the start of the course.
This is a work in practice as I’m teaching this now so I’m working 8 weeks in advance of when I need it this year. I intend running this course as part of the T-Level transition year for students who don’t have the grades to enter straight onto the T-Levels
