2D Shapes Activity A fun Maths activity to introduce children to 2D shapes. The activity includes interactive activities for the children to join in with. The activity shows different 2D shapes and describes their properties. Children then have to guess the 2D shape that is being described or the 2D shape that is being slowly revealed. Children then have to explain why a shape eg a circle is not a triangle, this encourages children to use the vocabulary to describe 2D shapes and demonstrates their understanding of 2D shapes. There is also a shape spotting activity using pictures and an odd one out activity again encouraging children to describe and talk about the 2D shapes. My class have enjoyed using this PowerPoint to learn about 2D shapes and it encourages lots of talk about 2D shapes. The activities in this set include drawing 2D shapes, recognising 2D shapes, finding the odd shape out, shape spotting and comparing 2D shapes. The cards can be used to encourage children to discuss 2D shapes using shape related language. These cards can be laminated for repeated use during Maths lessons or could be printed on a smaller scale and stuck in Maths books for children to complete. Happiness Assembly/Presentation A presentation aimed at Early Years and Key Stage 1 children about being a superhero and spreading happiness and smiles. The presentation explains that we all have a superpower and that superpower is making people smile. The presentation asks children to think about how they can make people smile and provides some ideas for how we can spread happiness. The presentation could be used as an assembly or during a PSHE discussion or lesson. The children will enjoy believing that they are a superhero and using their superpowers. Emotions Assembly/Presentation A presentation about emotions, what they are and how we can recognise and control them. This presentation can be used as an assembly or during a PSHE discussion or lesson about emotions. The PowerPoint includes questions for children to think about and answer. Can be used to help children to understand that everybody experiences positive and negative emotions and how we can deal with these emotions. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and covers a range of activities including number writing to 5 and then to 10, missing numbers, number recognition and representation using pictures and addition and subtraction using numbers to 5 and then numbers to 10. I have used this activity to support children with their understanding of number and addition and subtraction and it has helped to boost their confidence when they return to class. Teen Numbers Lesson A complete Maths lesson for introducing teen numbers in a step by step manner. During the main input children practise making teen numbers and can practise writing the number sentences for teen numbers. Children then have to identify numbers - this encourages children to explain their thinking. This Maths lesson includes three differentiated teen number worksheets and a plenary. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children however could also be used as a booster or recap for Year 2 children.

This interactive lesson focuses on o’clock and introduces key terms to the children before teaching children how to read o’clock. Sentence Writing Intervention A sentence writing booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who are struggling with writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and introduces children to 35 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw. Each week covers reading the focus high frequency words, writing the focus words, cutting and sticking words to make a sentence and then writing a dictated sentence. I have used this activity to encourage children to write sentences with capital letters and full stops and to hold and repeat the sentence in their head. Using Conjunctions Intervention/Booster A sentence writing booster/intervention that can be printed off to create a booklet of activity worksheets for Early Years and Key Stage 1 children who need support to improve their writing. The PowerPoint covers five weeks and introduces children to 34 of the 100 high frequency words/hfw. Each week covers reading the focus high frequency words, writing the focus words, using words to finish a sentence, joining sentences and then writing a sentence including a conjunction. There are 7 or 8 activity sheets for the children to complete each week. I have used this activity to encourage children to improve their sentences using conjunctions. The intervention helps children to gain confidence when they are writing sentences. Aimed at Key Stage 1 children.

The lesson focuses on and, but, so and because and demonstrates how to use each of these conjunctions. The lesson is interactive. Children must select the correct conjunction to use in sentences and select the correct ending for sentences and make sure that the sentence makes sense. The lesson includes three sets of differentiated worksheets with three worksheets in each set. There is a plenary at the end of the lesson where children must read a sentence including a conjunction and decide whether the sentence makes sense. Words Instead of Nice Complete Lesson A complete English lesson covering words that can be used instead of nice. The PowerPoint gives children examples of alternative words that they can use for nice and builds a list of alternative words - this final list could then be printed out for the children to use when they are writing. Children are then given a sentence with the word nice in and they have to replace the word nice in the sentence - children could rewrite the sentence on their whiteboards and replace the word nice or could simply write an alternative word for nice. The lesson includes three differentiated worksheets and a plenary where children have to find the odd word out eg amazing, helpful, caring and explain why it is the odd word out. Aimed at Key Stage 1 children.

Number Bond Tests A set of 14 colour coded number bond tests. These tests cover making numbers to 5, making numbers to 10 and making numbers to 20. The tests can be used with a timer to check how secure children are with number bonds. Children enjoy working their way through the colours of the rainbow and if not secure then can repeat tests again and try to beat their previous score. Aimed at Early Years and Year 1 children.

HFW Reading Intervention/Booster A reading intervention covering 100 high frequency words/HFW. The words are split into 13 sets with five activities for children to complete for each set. The activities are - read the words, find and colour the star words, match and colour words starting with upper and lower case letters, read the sentences including hfw and use the picture to fill in the missing word and read the sentences and draw a picture to match the sentences. The pictures and questions support children to develop inference. Each slide on the PowerPoint includes a picture for children to look at and talk about followed by questions that appear one at a time for children to think about. Each question is followed by an example sentence opener to encourage children to answer in full sentences. My class have thoroughly enjoyed being reading detectives and through practise will now provide reasons and explanations for their answers. Introducing Money A complete Maths lesson for introducing money and coins. The lesson covers the different coins and their value using pennies. There is an activity for swapping coins for a single coin to demonstrate that different coins can be used to make up different amounts and shows children that we need to add the amounts together and not simply count the coins. The lesson includes three differentiated money worksheets and a short plenary. Money Activity Cards A set of money activity cards covering coins only. The cards are split into three sets - cards showing one dot work with coins up to 5p and values below 10p, cards showing two dots work with coins up to 10p and values below 20p and cards showing three dots work with coins up to 20p and values below 30p.
