This simple and well-organized tracking form allows students to track the moon as it appears to them over a one month period. As explained in the directions, the students will draw a representation of the moon every three days totalling 10 images in 30 days. The students will have to record observation notes including components such as the time they observed it as well as anything else they noticed. They will also have to attempt to identify the moon phase. This student centered project can easily be assigned as a homework for students to realize that the moon phase changes gradually over a month period as well as how the time of day the moon is visible changes as well. Students will be so excited to be able to draw, and take ownership over something that is such a normal part of their world!

With so much of our days being go, go, go, and content focused, it is often difficult to celebrate birthdays which is such a joyous occasion for our students. I know it's also often hard to plan, implement, and carry out this parties so I often would have monthly parties that celebrated everyone in the class who had a birthday that fell within that month. In order to make these parties a success, I would ask all the parents to pitch in with donations and time. At first, I would end up with 10 bags of chips and 10 bottles of soda which got old pretty quickly. I started to use this template which allowed me to differentiate the treats that we received which often made the parties last much longer and kids much happier :) The template has two notices per pages and will require you to assign the donations to ensure your party has a good mix. Feel free to cross our and change any of the treats that you feel will better fit your class! Check out this awesome exploratory task card where students will learn about polarity and closed circuits. Students will be required to identify the locations of a battery and bulb that are contact parts and then will explore how to create a circuit that lights the bulb. A guided worksheet with directions will allow students to complete this activity independently, in small groups, at a center or as a whole class. You will need a D battery, wiring and a bulb for this activity.

Life Line Guidelines: Each student gets one of each (3 total) of the lifelines. Their names will be on the back, and they are to hold on to them (laminate if possible). Each time they use one, the teacher collects it. If they don’t use any of them during the month, then the teacher will buy them back for that month for two tickets per life line unused (or some sort of treat). If the students do use their life line and would like to buy it back, they may for the price of two tickets. If the students lose their lifeline, they may buy them back at the cost of two tickets per life line. The teacher will also use a list of students to keep track of who uses theirs. The students who bought theirs back after using it will not be rewarded with the two tickets (or the treat) for that life line at the end of the month. This behavior management system can be set up in any class to keep kids on task, paying attention, and to give students a safe way to protect themselves if they are caught not paying attention or simply not knowing information **Can be adapted to a challenging review game as an informal assessment to show if students have or have not studied.
