The classic Christmas poem Old Santaclaus with Much Delight with comprehension questions and writing challenge. Answers to the comprehension questions are included. The accompanying illustrations are also included.
This traditional anonymously written and illustrated children’s poem was published in New York in 1821, and was the first to mention and illustrate a Santa character.
Note that the final stanza of the eight stanza poem refers to naughty children being beaten by their parents.

Three animal-related activities where pupils must add punctuation to information texts about three animals: badgers, hedgehogs and spiders.
Pupils must read the texts and add the missing punctuation, including the following:
• Capital letters for the start of sentences
• Capital letters for proper nouns
• Full stops
• Question marks
• Commas in a list
• Commas in compound sentences
• Commas after fronted adverbials
• Apostrophes for possession
These tasks are useful when learning about or revising punctuation, including sentence punctuation. The non-chronological report style texts help to familiarise pupils with this non-fiction genre, and the subject matter, animals, is of interest to children.

The differentiated WAGOLL contains a conversation between Beowulf, his father, Edgetheow, and his uncle, King Hygelac, when he decides to travel to Denmark to kill Grendel. Beowulf themed differentiated worksheets containing a variety of fronted adverbial activities, focusing on the first part of the story.
The fronted adverbial worksheets are differentiated three ways. They contain a variety of fronted adverbial activities to develop pupils’ knowledge of fronted adverbials and improve their skills in using fronted adverbials in their writing. Pupils are asked to identify different types of fronted adverbials, re-write sentences to include fronted adverbials and commas, and write their own sentences with fronted adverbials including correct punctuation.
The worksheet focuses on the first part of Michael Morpurgo’s re-telling of the epic Anglo-Saxon tale, Beowulf.
Each worksheet comes with an answer sheet.
