A timeline activity for The Butterfly Lion which covers the key events from the whole novel. This activity is perfect for deepening pupils’ understanding of Michael Morpurgo’s prize-winning novel.
Resources provided:
• Key events cards
• Timeline template
• Answer sheet
Give this timeline activity to small groups, pairs or individual pupils to complete to consolidate pupils’ understanding of the text. This is particularly important as the story is non-linear, being told through a series of flashbacks, so this activity challenges pupils to order the events chronologically, thus deepening their understanding of the narrative.
An additional activity has been provided as an extension if necessary.
