Three animal-related activities where pupils must add punctuation to information texts about three animals: badgers, hedgehogs and spiders. Pupils must read the texts and add the missing punctuation, including the following: • Capital letters for the start of sentences • Capital letters for proper nouns • Full stops • Question marks • Commas in a list • Commas in compound sentences • Commas after fronted adverbials • Apostrophes for possession These tasks are useful when learning about or revising punctuation, including sentence punctuation. The non-chronological report style texts help to familiarise pupils with this non-fiction genre, and the subject matter, animals, is of interest to children.
