A fun model instructional text about defeating a dragon, plus feature find worksheet with answers.
Based on the Polish legend of the Wawel Dragon from Kraków, these instructions tell the reader how to defeat the dragon without the use of weapons.
Use this exemplar text as a WAGOLL to examine its features before pupils write their own instructional text. This resource is a perfect model for instructions about mythical creatures such as dragons, ogres or unicorns, but would work well as a WAGOLL before writing instructions about any topic.

Model diary entry from the point of view of a character from the novel The Midnight Fox, plus feature find worksheet, answers, differentiated planning templates and word bank.
This exemplar text is perfect to use as a WAGOLL after reading Chapter 3 of Betsy Byars’s book.

Pupils read the example diary entry from Tom’s perspective, use the WAGOLL to complete the feature find worksheet, and then plan and write their own diary entry from a different point in the narrative or from the point of view of a different character, such as Mom, Dad, Petie, Aunt Mille, Uncle Fred or Hazeline.
