A set of three expanded noun phrase activities and a noun phrase poster, all linked to Chapter 1 of The Iron Man (also known as The Iron Giant) by Ted Hughes. These resources develop pupils’ understanding of grammar, creative writing skills and engagement with the novel. Pupils examine the personality of Ada and other characters in this differentiated character trait matching exercise. Pupils match the main characters from Children of the Benin Kingdom by Dinah Orji with character traits and evidence from the text. Pupils add missing punctuation to paragraphs from Oranges in No Man’s Land by Elizabeth Laird.
