I try to inspire students with what greets them when they come into my classroom and try to move away from the chalk and talk teacher at the front lessons and make learning interactive and fun!

This assessment can be used a stand alone assessment including activities that are self contained with all resources including the assessment, writing frame and mark scheme that is used for students and for staff to mark. There are various activities that are set out in an exam style format. Students have to look at photograph interpretation, use sources to make a decision, literacy skills, writing frame for an extended written task in addition to a recall and climate graph activity.

This is an excellent resource as a baseline or an end of unit assessment for generic Geography skills such as decision-making, describing, explaining and photograph interpretation. There is a writing frame and a mark scheme provided for the students to self assess and staff to mark with.

These two lessons are an excellent starter to plate tectonics and give students the opportunity to learn about all of the key elements including convection currents, plate tectonics and the structure of the earth. There are printable activities on the power point and the jigsaw is attached as a pdf. This lesson can be differentiated up or down for KS3 or the introduction to a topic at KS4 with more interactive learning.

Students spend the first part of this two part lesson looking at the causes of flooding and then make decisions based on their learning as to what is the greatest cause of flooding. Students then examine storm hydro graphs and construct a hydro graph themselves. They then consolidate learning with an examination question linking causes of flooding and the recordings on storm hydro graphs. All resources, print outs and homework are attached within the power point.

Students have the opportunity to look at OS maps and apply them to their understanding of the coast. This lesson covers 2-3 lessons regarding the way in which different coastlines are eroded as a result of geology of the cliffs and slopes. Students compare two coastlines and identify factors responsible. In addition this then goes on to show the formation of spits and the process of LSD as well as sand dunes. All activities are included to print and are stand alone without the need for a text book. These lessons fit in with the other coasts lessons for landforms and processes.
