Take a seat Hamburger Planners…say hello to a new range of graphic organizers! These printable planning templates are perfect for both teacher modelling and student recording in the pre-writing stage of the writing process! Not to mention, each design is different because no writing genre is the same, right? So why wouldn’t we reflect that in our planning? This 64-page resource contains a range of single page planning sheets with prompts and recording space. The planning sheets are designed to be used for students in Year 3-6 but knowing my past students, these would still be great fits for both my Year 2 and Year 7 students and I would just alter my expectation around detail, vocabulary, number of paragraphs etc to suit varying abilities. This resource comes in both colour and grayscale versions for the following Writing genres: Narrative (1) Recount (1) Information Report (1) Explanation (3) Biography (1) Letter (1) Persuasive (2) Descriptive (3 - Character, Setting, Object) Instructions (1) It is part of a new line of teaching resources I’m working on called PLAN IT WRITE IT IMPROVE IT and for a limited time, ALSO includes the writing frames which correspond with each of the planning sheets! Planning a piece of writing is one of my favourite things to do - generating ideas and vocabulary…seeing the seeds of a great piece of writing sprouting in front of my eyes…ooh it gets me excited! But I know that it is the stage of the writing process that a lot of students struggle with so I want to do the best I can to make it as easy and inspiring as I can. 64 pages, printable PDF Happy planning! Colour Wheel Reading Learning Intentions, High Frequency Word Lists & more!

(0)
Get ready for the start of term with this reading resources pack! This is designed to get you all set for planning and teaching beginning readers from Magenta to Gold (Levels 1-21) on the Reading Colour Wheel. This resource includes: > A Colour Wheel Reading Groups Template > For each of the Reading Levels (Magenta - Gold): Learning intentions with checkboxes written as ‘I can…’ statements Lists of high frequency words for students to learn at each of the colour levels. I would send these lists home with my students so they could practise reading and spelling them for homework. I would also have a booklet for each of my students at school which they would use for independent spelling practice and I would use for assessment to tick off what words they’d shown me they could read/spell. My students loved taking ownership of their learning this way and I’d often see them taking the initiative to get their high frequency word booklet during Writing lessons to check their spelling! Ready-to-go unit planning documents with sections for targeted skills An action plan template to support learners through deliberate acts of teaching > A generic list of Guided Reading prompts to use before, during and after reading These are all resources that I found invaluable when teaching my Year 2s. I had readers all the way through from Level 1 to Level 20 so I really just needed to create an easy solution for myself to keep up with differentiated planning at each of the reading levels. I hope you also find them helpful! Happy teaching & learning! Biography Booklets for Years 1-8

Biography Booklets for Years 1-8

(0)
Ready to dive into Biography Writing with your students? My students LOVE making little books (often for comics) so I figured why not turn Biography Writing into booklet form too?! I’ve created several versions to help you differentiate for students of varying writing abilities. When you download this, have a scroll through to pick out what’ll work best for your students! This resource contains 97 pages with multiple versions: Year 1-2 booklet (8 pages x4 versions with sentence starter prompts) Year 3-4 booklet (8 pages x2 versions) Year 5-6 booklet (10 pages x1 version) Year 7-8 booklet (12 pages x2 versions) *Product last updated 27/06/23 (removal of square bordering and update of some fonts) Biography Writing is great fun in that students get the opportunity to research a significant person of interest or influence. The trouble is that Biography Writing tends to get quite research-heavy. That’s why it’s important to make the recording of facts and writing up of information fun and achievable! Using booklets gives students ownership of their writing and chunks the task into manageable bite-sized sections. And of course, the chance to colour in and add illustrations! You can even turn it into a group project by divvying up the pages amongst group members before securing them together into a full booklet! I recommend printing out two pages per A4 sheet to make A5-sized booklets. Trim off any excess paper around the border before stapling or hole-punching and securing the pages together. Let me know how your students get on with it! Happy writing! If you’re after a biography planning template, check this out or if you’re looking for success criteria for biography writing have a look at this! Be purposeful teachers Who are in control Feel inspired And know they’ve done enough ❤ If you found this resource helpful, leave a review and star rating on the product page!
