See Think Feel Wonder Pictures & Editable Google Slides: Climate Change

See Think Feel Wonder Pictures & Editable Google Slides: Climate Change

(0)
Ready-to-go editable slides for your students to See Think Feel & Wonder about the topic of Climate Change! The prep is all done for you - simply assign the Google Slides to your students on Google Classroom and your students will be all set to go with thought-provoking picture prompts and tables to record their responses. Easy! If you’re looking for an engaging way to introduce a new topic to your students, ‘See Think Feel Wonder’ is the way to go! It’s a way to spark discussions and unearth students’ prior knowledge and perceptions. The aim is to encourage students to dig deeper than just surface-level observations and GET CURIOUS about the world around them. The pictures in this resource include: Transport, deforestation, farming, bush fires, glacier melting, factory pollution and protest for climate change. Photo credit to the following Pixabay artists (in order of pictures): makabera, MariaGullestrup, NickyPe, rauschenberger, shivaphotographyy, Picography, stevePB (2), Manubird, cubicroot How I recommend using these Google Slides: Complete the Bus Stop activity outlined in the printable version with students either just discussing their ideas or recording their responses on post-it notes. Show students the Google Slides and model how to fill in the ‘See Think Feel Wonder’ charts, ensuring that you are specific about your personal expectations of length/quality of responses. Make the slides available for students to complete independently through the ‘Create an Assignment’ function on Google Classroom (explained below). Look at the assignments once they have been submitted by your students and use this information to identify prior knowledge, misconceptions and possible areas to explore further in following lessons. If you haven’t used the ‘Create an Assignment’ function in Google Classroom before, you can check out instructions on Google support. There are also a bunch of videos out there you can watch on Youtube if that’s easier for you! The most important thing is that when you first create the assignment, you select ‘Make a copy for each student’. This means that your students will all get their own copy of the slides with their name added to the document title. You and the student will be able to edit their copy of the document and, importantly, your students will not be able to edit your original copy of the slides (yes, I have made this mistake before!). Please note: When you purchase this resource, you will download a PDF which gives you access to the Editable Google Slides. After clicking the link, you will be prompted to ‘Make a Copy’ of the resource which will automatically save to your personal Google Drive. Please ensure that you are signed into your Google account to enable this. Enjoy! Be purposeful teachers Who are in control Feel inspired And know they’ve done enough. @atm.teaching

See Think Feel Wonder Picture Prompts - Climate Change

(0)
Launch into learning about climate change with this set of picture prompts! This resource comes with 10 thought-provoking pictures as well as a recording worksheet for students. If you’re looking for an engaging way to introduce a new topic to your students, ‘See Think Feel Wonder’ is the way to go! Use this activity to spark discussion and explore students’ prior knowledge and perceptions. The aim is to encourage students to dig deeper than just surface-level observations and GET CURIOUS about the world around them. My favourite way to use this in class is as a Bus Stop or Carousel activity. For this, you’ll want to print off the photos (A4 or A3-sized) and spread them out around the classroom. Split students into small groups and get them to move between each of the stations, discussing and recording their thoughts. Post-it-notes are a great way for students to record their ideas anonymously and can later be collated to guide a whole class discussion. If you’d like students to record their responses for their workbooks, I’ve included a template for you to use at the end of this resource. I’ve also included some headings which you can print off to create a wall display alongside the picture prompts and student responses. Photo credit to the following Pixabay artists (in order of pictures): makabera, MariaGullestrup, NickyPe, rauschenberger, shivaphotographyy, Picography, stevePB (2), Manubird, cubicroot Happy teaching and learning! Teacher Well-Being Ideas

Teacher Well-Being Ideas

(0)
We’ve got to build positive school cultures if we want teachers to be able to thrive. If you’re looking to boost morale, promote well-being and increase motivation, here are some ideas you can use yourself, with your team or for the whole staff body. I’m out to help teachers feel good and teach at their best. I believe that we can achieve this through four key areas: Being purposeful - Having intent behind our actions and connecting with what’s important with us to stay motivated Being in control - Focusing on what’s within our locus of control and building helpful habits into our daily routines Being inspired - Being a learner at heart, open to new ways of doing things, taking opportunities to grow and keeping our teaching ‘fresh’ Knowing we’ve done enough - Valuing ourselves and fostering a school culture of positivity and celebration where we are all happy and proud to call ourselves teachers. It’s a shame that ‘well-being’ initiatives and activities have a reputation for ‘missing the mark’ or feeling tokenistic because we have an undeniable need to see more of them in our schools. We’ve got to get the talk going, engage in authentic experiences and really build well-being into our school cultures so it’s a given - not a bonus. I hope you find this resource helpful and that, at the very least, it sets the wheels in motion for building a community of happy and supportive teachers at your school. Together let’s make schools the positive environments they should be and make teaching the uplifting experience we all want it to be. Go well, team! ☺ Be purposeful teachers Who are in control Feel inspired And know they’ve done enough. ☆ If you found this product helpful, please leave a review below! @attheminute.teaching

Colouring In Pages | Travel Inspired | Original Hand Drawn Pictures | Burano, Venice

Who doesn’t love a bit of colouring in?! This resource contains 7 original hand drawn houses inspired by the colourful houses on the island of Burano. If you’re after a wall display for your classroom, you can get your students to cut out their houses and then stick them up in a row to make a piece of collective artwork - teamwork makes the dream work, right?! I instantly fell in love with the island of Burano on my whistle-stop trip there last year. I loved how despite being a seemingly random array of colours and a little wonky, everything just looked so in place. Perfectly imperfect. I’m super excited to create more classroom resources inspired by my travels! Here’s what I’ve created so far - hope you find something that takes your fancy! Biography Booklets for Years 1-8

Biography Booklets for Years 1-8

(0)
Ready to dive into Biography Writing with your students? My students LOVE making little books (often for comics) so I figured why not turn Biography Writing into booklet form too?! I’ve created several versions to help you differentiate for students of varying writing abilities. When you download this, have a scroll through to pick out what’ll work best for your students! This resource contains 97 pages with multiple versions: Year 1-2 booklet (8 pages x4 versions with sentence starter prompts) Year 3-4 booklet (8 pages x2 versions) Year 5-6 booklet (10 pages x1 version) Year 7-8 booklet (12 pages x2 versions) *Product last updated 27/06/23 (removal of square bordering and update of some fonts) Biography Writing is great fun in that students get the opportunity to research a significant person of interest or influence. The trouble is that Biography Writing tends to get quite research-heavy. That’s why it’s important to make the recording of facts and writing up of information fun and achievable! Using booklets gives students ownership of their writing and chunks the task into manageable bite-sized sections. And of course, the chance to colour in and add illustrations! You can even turn it into a group project by divvying up the pages amongst group members before securing them together into a full booklet! I recommend printing out two pages per A4 sheet to make A5-sized booklets. Trim off any excess paper around the border before stapling or hole-punching and securing the pages together. Let me know how your students get on with it! Happy writing! If you’re after a biography planning template, check this out or if you’re looking for success criteria for biography writing have a look at this!
