KS3 Electricity Literacy Task | Christmas Themed
KaylaWilliams89KaylaWilliams89

KS3 Electricity Literacy Task | Christmas Themed

(0)
This KS3 worksheet is a literacy task based around the theme of electricity - specifically showing understanding of Series and Parallel circuits. I decided to make this a bit more fun by adding a Christmas theme! (who doesn’t love Christmassy sparkly lights?!) The whole task is based around the question: ’Why do we use parallel circuits in Christmas lights instead of series circuits?' The worksheet is then chunked into three tasks - firstly drawing circuit diagrams and stating the difference in brightness of the bulbs. Secondly, writing bullet points to explain what happens if a bulb breaks in a series vs parallel circuit. Lastly is pulling this information together to write their answer. They should use the keywords provided and make sure they PEE (point, explain, evidence!). My students really enjoyed this task and it easily allowed for differentiation between the different abilities in my class. It also includes a super fast feedback sheet (I print this off double-sided with the worksheet). This includes a check list of what students have included or missed - you simply tick what they have done and highlight what they missed (or write in the space provided any individual feedback). There is then a space for the students to complete a response to your feedback. If you are looking for something literacy based to use in your science classroom this Christmas season, then check this resource out!

They will then be asked to form an opinion about human activities and their impacts. The lesson plan follows the following 4 phase structure: Activate: 6 recall questions designed to get the students either retrieving previous knowledge linked to this or prior topics. Photosynthesis Assessment & Feedback

Photosynthesis Assessment & Feedback

(1)
This photosynthesis assessment and feedback lesson is designed to help you and your students. You save time by marking one piece of work for this topic. The students benefit by getting specific and detailed feedback over what they are getting right, and what they need to work on. Marking is time consuming, and often does not benefit anyone. However, with this task, students will answer a detailed task to showcase what they know. There is also a success criteria they can use as a checklist to ensure they include all the detail needed. There is then space for teacher feedback (or peer feedback if you wish!), along with space for the student to address what they missed/got incorrect. When I use this resource I will spend one lesson on completing the task, and the start of another lesson for students to address the feedback I have provided. If when you are marking, you notice a lot of students are making the same mistake, you could plan to re-teach that and help all your students to make positive progress! Included in this resource is: Double sided assessment - page 1 is the task and space for the student to answer, page 2 includes the success criteria along with space for the teacher to leave comments and the student to respond and correct any work. Keyword linking activity (and model answers for the teacher to use) Photosynthesis themed word search (with answers) I hope your students find these worksheets useful!
