This resource contains differentiated worksheets on the first set of 100 high-frequency words. They are ideal for spelling practice and homework.
1. The first set is the most challenging and requires pupils have to use the words in a sentence.
2. The second set contains just the words for spelling (no sentences).
3. The third set is for those pupils who experience difficulty in writing. The words can be written over.
This resource is also suitable for SEN pupils who have yet to master the spelling of high-frequency words.

This is a preview version of a fun Halloween game based on ‘Stop the Bus.’ It is an interactive PowerPoint Game that can be played with the whole class or the whole school in assembly time. Please note that only the pictures denoted by a star can be played in this preview version.

Stop The Broom! Halloween Themed PowerPoint Game
Instructions
Put pupils into teams of 2-4
Pupils take turns in choosing a picture. Click on the picture. Behind each picture is a letter. The letter will magically disappear so that pupils know the choices left.
Pupils think of one item to go in each category beginning with that letter. A sheet for recording words is provided.
Teams have 60 seconds to complete task. There is a timer on the slide. The witch will gradually disappear and the end of the 60 seconds culminates in a witch’s cackle. ‘Happy’ Halloween music plays in the background whilst pupils complete task.
To return to the image page, click on letter on the top right-hand corner of each slide.
If a team finishes before the 60 seconds, they shout “Stop the Broom!” Click on the slide to activate the witch’s cackle.
Teams score 1 point if they have an appropriate item in the category. They get 2 points if no other team has that word.
The length of time pupils have can be reduced or extended by altering the timing of the witch image.

PowerPoint battleships team game containing three different grids to provide hours of fun! It can be administered to a whole class. It includes team score sheet. It is a great way to reinforce coordinates in the first quadrant. Suggestions for use: - Divide group / class into teams. Let the teams choose a Christmas themed name - eg The Elves, The snowmen. This game is particularly appropriate for reception and Year 1 children (EYFS) as it will help to reinforce number recognition and counting skills. It can also be used with Special Education (SEN) pupils and will also help to develop turn-taking and social skills.

Stop the Sleigh is a seasonal variation of ‘Stop The Bus’. This game involves pupils finding the names of various items in categories. The categories include - elf’s name, angel’s name, item of winter clothing, Christmas food, - toy or game, TV programme or film and an item that can be found on an Advent Calendar. Pupils are placed into teams of 2-4. Teams choose, in turn, a letter via an ‘advent calendar’. Behind each picture on the calendar is a letter. Teams have to think of one item to go into each category beginning with the selected letter. The first team to finish shouts “Santa – Stop the Sleigh!” If you have a bell a pupil can run out to ring the bell to stop the game! As a timer, choose some popular Christmas music.
Christmas Happy Families - ths is a bright and colourful resource which can be laminated and used for many educational and fun activities. The game involves collecting all 4 members of the family. There are 56 cards ( 14 families ) printed with Christmas themed pictures.
