PowerPoint battleships team game containing three different grids to provide hours of fun! It can be administered to a whole class. It includes team score sheet. It is a great way to reinforce coordinates in the first quadrant. Suggestions for use: - Divide group / class into teams. Let the teams choose a Christmas themed name - eg The Elves, The snowmen. Teams take turns to choose a coordinate. One point for each image located. Two points for an animated image. A thumbs-down means no point scored.
A Christmas themed battleships game to introduce and reinforce the teaching of coordinates. There are 10 grids which can be used to play with a partner. These could be laminated and used time and time again. There is also a coordinates record sheet and a score sheet.

Asylum Seeker/Refugee Simulation Activity Pack and Worksheets
This activity pack contains an editable lesson plan. The simulation activity is in the form of a PowerPoint and there are follow-up activities that include questions for discussion and three evaluation and review worksheets.
The simulation activity contains 8 scenarios. Pupils are divided into groups and are required to make decisions/take actions. Some of the scenarios are accompanied by a timer with dramatic music playing to simulate the confusion in which refugees have to make quick decisions. Sample scenarios include:
Scenario 1 - War has broken out. Members of the group have to leave home. They are required to choose 6 items to take with them.
Scenario 2 - A pick-up truck arrives to take the group to a boat on the coast. The driver speeds away as fast as he can. He hits a speed bump and one of the group’s bag falls off the back of the truck.
Scenario 4 - The truck continues its journey towards the coast. The truck runs out of fuel and the group members have to walk. To make the journey easier everyone has to take the heaviest item out of their bag to make it lighter.
Scenario 6 – The group reach the coast. There is a small boat waiting. However, the boat can only take four people.
Scenario 7 – The man with the boat wants paying. The group must give any money they have to him. If they have no money they have to give him their most valuable item.

Christmas Lotto or Bingo - 32 cards printed with both pictures and words and 32 cards printed with just words. Every child can participate due to the differentiation. The resource also includes flashcards of the words - with and without pictures could be used for other educational activities - sorting, alphabetical order, a stimulus for creative writing, pictures could be cut out and used to make Christmas cards, Christmas calendars, Christmas bookmarks and other Christmas decorations. etc
Elves and Santas - a seasonal variation of snakes and ladders. The resource can be enlarged to A3 size and laminated. There are 70 squares on the board. The game can be played with regular dice or numbered dice. This game is particularly appropriate for reception and Year 1 children (EYFS) as it will help to reinforce number recognition and counting skills. It can also be used with SEN pupils and will also help to reinforce turn-taking skills and social skills.
Stop the Sleigh is a seasonal variation of ‘Stop The Bus’. This game involves pupils finding the names of various items in categories. The categories include - elf’s name, angel’s name, item of winter clothing, Christmas food, - toy or game, TV programme or film and an item that can be found on an Advent Calendar. Pupils are placed into teams of 2-4. Teams choose, in turn, a letter via an ‘advent calendar’. Behind each picture on the calendar is a letter. Teams have to think of one item to go into each category beginning with the selected letter. The first team to finish shouts “Santa – Stop the Sleigh!” If you have a bell a pupil can run out to ring the bell to stop the game! As a timer, choose some popular Christmas music.

These resources will develop the pupils ability to achieve the following Year 2 Maths National Curriculum Objectives:-
Draw 2-D shapes using given dimensions and angles.
Compare and classify geometric shapes based on their properties and sizes and find unknown angles in any triangles, quadrilaterals and regular polygons.
Recognise angles where they meet at a point, are on a straight line, or are vertically opposite, and find missing angles.
