This creative writing piece uses an empty fairground setting as inspiration. Depending on pupil ability it could be used over the course of two or three lessons. A clear structure is provided with some writing frame sentence starters and modelled paragraphs.

A one-off creative writing lesson based around pirates. The lesson takes pupils through three clear sections to describe in detail with some inspiration and starting points.

This scheme is aimed at lower ability GCSE sets. It tackles the novella from an exam practice based approach - pupils are encouraged to find their own quotes at every step of the SOW. There are 14 lessons in total (some of which can be set as homework depending on time restraints) and any necessary hand-outs. Graphics and planning are purposefully not very Christmas based so that the scheme can be taught at any time of year.

A lesson focussing on the Prince's warning in act 1. two possible versions of the lesson - the main content is the same in both but one focusses on analytic skills while the other focusses on improving creative writing skills.

A revision session for lower ability groups. This example refers to an extract from the first few pages of 'Of Mice an Men' (so those old copies can be dug out of the store cupboard) and reminds pupils of the important points to look for in each question while having a quick practice.

A booklet for pupils to fill in as they study the book and then use afterwards for revision. Includes 3 key quotes plus sections to fill in for key characters and themes. Also available in my shop as part of a SOW.

Analysing the introduction of marriage to Paris.

An introductory lesson to studying ‘The Speckled Band’. This lesson focuses on Doyle’s choice of narrator. There are differentiated slides to convert the lesson for pupils of lower and higher ability.

The third in a series of lessons focussed on the fairies. This lesson looks at Oberon's plan to use the magic flower and asks pupils to judge whether they view him as a good or bad fairy so far in the play. See my other resources for the lead up to this lesson.

A revision booklets for making notes and analysing important quotes about key characters and themes in the novella.

Assessment sheets which allow quick feedback to pupils. This set of sheets includes reading feedback (based on PEA/CE writing structure) for the novel, Shakespeare and poetry and writing feedback based around the old National Curriculum standards. As most schools have now developed their own levelling system any sheets that previously included the NC numbers have been included both in the NC format and in a format with blank space to write in new levelling numbers or letters - whatever you've gone for :)

This powerpoint introduces some of the main themes of 1:1 and the play as a whole. It tackles the scene in a simple way that reassures students Shakespeare isn't so hard while also introducing some complex ideas about interpretation of the witches and the context of the play. This is the first in a series of lessons on Macbeth - I hope to be uploading more soon.
