The second in a Year 7 Survival Guide SOW, this lesson explores how to create an author's note page for the survival guide booklet by writing in an informative and interesting way. For more lessons in this SOW please see my shop.

A powerpoint presentation which can be printed out as a textbook. It is designed in a textbook format with lessons for each of the important sections of the play. Each of the lessons includes activities that have been differentiated three ways and can be used either independently by pupils as a cover lesson or can be taught with the accompanying lessons. There are also three Macbeth related SPAG lessons and an optional 'flipped classroom' lesson. The textbook finishes with a reading assessment.

This could be used as 1 or 2 lessons. The first section involves watching and discussing existing versions of the scene (unfortunately I could not attach these for copyright reasons but there is space for you to add hyperlinks if you so choose) and then students can make their own scene choices on a worksheet. The second section involves group work speaking and listening - there is a slide with the NC levels and an extra left blank for you to add your own school's levelling system. A pack of resources designed to accompany my 'Macbeth Textbook'. Each of the sections in the textbook have an accompanying powerpoint for the teacher to use in order to focus the class on the section of the book's page which they need to complete. There are also print ready versions of sections of the play for annotation as well as some other useful resources. Also additional help for test preparation.

Designed to introduce pupils to the more archaic vocabulary that they will find in pre-1914 novels. Can be used as definition or spelling tests or both. Each week is linked by a theme which isn't revealed till the test - this allows pupils to guess the theme, introducing an element of competition.

A lesson to use before studying Macbeth - it encourages students to consider the motives behind murdering the king and the different feelings of the characters. It is also a great activity to use as a speaking and listening piece both for group work and for drama.

A creative writing lesson that encourages pupils to consider the importance of vocab choice in creating atmosphere. Can be used with follow up lesson about describing a faerie or could be used as a one-off writing piece.

Basic plans to be used as revision for the new AQA English Language exams. Includes printable revision resources for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 sections A and B. An acronym for encouraging lower ability pupils to produce a range of ideas for their arguments for Paper 2 Section B.

2 x Paper 1 Section A and B practice papers - one based on the opening of 'Treasure Island' and one based on 'Dracula'. The use of old texts will allow pupils to become more familiar with the trickier language and sentence structures that they are likely to come across in Paper 2.

This lesson focuses on the first time fairies appear in the play and can be used as a one off lesson or at the start of a scheme of work about the play. It is designed for use with Y7 but may be of use to Y6 classes too as it takes a very simple step-by-step approach to analysing Shakespearean language. Can also be used as a lead into my 'forests and faeries' creative writing lessons.

A revision guide for use with lower ability sets that covers all the basics of Animal Farm's main characters and their context.

A one-off lesson which can be used with KS3 classes to introduce them to the basic plot of 'Frankenstein' as part of a study of gothic literature or as part of a creative writing scheme. The lesson involves finding the techniques which Shelley has used and then putting them into practice by writing a modern day version of the monster's creation.

A lesson aimed to encourage pupils to begin experimenting with structural techniques in order to reach the higher levels in creative writing tasks. This lesson focusses on the use of recurring motifs through the use of lines from nursery rhymes.
