SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 FLASHCARDS POSTERS These Spanish numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in Spanish, also giving the learning environment fabulous Spanish look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of Spanish learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. They’re great as flashcards too, a traditional and really successful way of introducing and practising new language. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years. Have a look at these Spanish numbers resources, they’re free to download: SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 - I HAVE, WHO HAS? https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12115002 SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 - REFERENCE MAT https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12498681 PRIMARY SPANISH NUMBERS 0-21 - WORD WALL https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12128969 There’s also a set of Spanish Numbers 0-31 bunting (£3): SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 BUNTING https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12556559 and a set of Spanish Numbers 0-31 challenge cards, great for developing Spanish language skills, as well as practising numbers: SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-11748397 The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. BACK TO SCHOOL SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 BUNTING BANNERS It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting/banners not only to create a real Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting works well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall. Have a look at this Spanish Greetings ¡Buenos días! bunting freebie - the design is exactly the same as this set, so you’ll be able to see if it would suit your classroom: SPANISH GREETINGS BUNTING FREEBIE : BUENOS DÍAS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12556547 There’s a ¡Bienvenidos! freebie too: SPANISH GREETINGS BUNTING FREEBIE : BIENVENIDOS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12556552 and a great introduction to the Spanish-speaking world (£3): SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES BUNTING https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12556567 I’ve also got a set of Spanish Numbers 0-31 posters / flashcards (£3): SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 FLASHCARDS POSTERS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/-12556594 Try these Spanish Numbers 0-31 challenge cards - great for developing Spanish language skills, as well as practising numbers: SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-11748397 This resource is copyright, all rights reserved. GCSE FRENCH ALEVEL FRENCH KS5 FRENCH SPEAKING & WRITING PROMPTS The resource consists of three non-editable files in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. 100 French Speaking & Writing Prompts, for Higher GCSE & beginner ALevel French students. Speaking and writing are language skills that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is really beneficial. The questions are differentiated, addressing a broad range of ability, which aim to progress all learners. Tenses include present, future, near future, perfect and conditional. Question formats are likewise varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in French. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts. The prompts are really versatile too, specifically with a focus on speaking and writing. Speaking: As a whole-group activity, distribute the cards among your students, one or several. Ideally, they should walk around the classroom, asking questions, and swapping cards. For pair or small-group work, students can work in a designated area. This really helps them focus closely on the language, and helps learners who are slightly less confident working with a larger group. The cards work particularly well as ice-breakers at the beginning of the school year, refreshers after vacation, prep for both new phase learning, for example intermediate to advanced intermediate, and even advanced intermediate to advanced, as well as exams. Frequent and regular engagement with language is absolutely key to successful language learning. Writing: The cards work best in pair or small-group work, where learners have access to reference resources, such as bilingual dictionaries and the internet. The latter will enable them to prepare detailed responses to questions which address general knowledge, rather than their own life. They can then transfer this knowledge to their spoken work. The prompts broadly address the following themes: college life & study; future plans; information technology; where I live; social & environmental issues; France & travel; social activity & daily life Try this free sampler: FRENCH SPEAKING & WRITING PROMPTS SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-speaking-and-writing-prompts-freebie-12537447 MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !

GERMAN SPEAKING PRACTICE CARDS FREEBIE

GCSE GERMAN SPEAKING ACTIVITIES KS3 GERMAN SPEAKING ACTIVITIES KS4 GERMAN SPEAKING PROMPTS PRACTICE This resource consists of two non-editable files in a zipped format. I always laminate my language learning cards, even though the prep is a bit time-consuming - they’re far sturdier and easier to use, and will definitely last for years! Please read the Terms of Use carefully - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. This is a free set of 15 German speaking prompts, with suggested responses. My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of German grammar too. There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner German to intermediate German students, though my more advanced German students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own in any way. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. German Numbers 0-31 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of German numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner German students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on German Numbers 0-31, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in German, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on German maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of math is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. I’ve labelled the cards A-L, so that if you have the set of 48 task cards ($3), you can use them together. Try this second freebie focusing on German Numbers 0-31 - these cards are also numbered a-l, but in lowercase, so that students can easily identify which set they are working with: GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 : 12 CHALLENGE CARDS FREEBIE #2 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-challenge-cards-freebie-2-12958651 Have a look at this set of 48 differentiated challenge cards focusing on German Numbers 0-31 (£3): GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 : 48 DIFFERENTIATED QUESTIONS WITH ANSWER KEY & RECORDING SHEET https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-31-challenge-cards-11817183 Have a browse in my store for more German challenge cards / independent learning activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. I’ve found that Christmas is a great time to revisit language we started with a couple of months before, and these are ideal for that. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocab, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practise how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! I use the cards with my Primary German, and also my KS3 German learners. I’ve used a range of Christmas-theme images as visual clues for learners, Knecht Ruprecht and Weihnachtsmann - most of the questions are in German, so it’s really important to give learners appropriate support, and they’re great for stimulating discussion about German Christmas traditions and vocabulary. There’s a colour set, and also a blackline set. Please read the Terms of Use carefully: this resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. The focus is on key beginner Spanish vocabulary: = los números en español 0-10 : Spanish numbers 0-10 = los números en español 0-20 : Spanish numbers 0-20 Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This mini-bundle features two sets of 10 differentiated word searches & answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. In each set, there are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, where students are prompted with Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and students have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. Answer keys are really essential - they offer learners an additional opportunity to engage with language, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own, and particularly each others’ work. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a good thing! The word searches are in landscape format, as I’ve found this to be the best format for beginner English-speaking language learners because of the shared direction of reading and writing from left to right, ensuring language is very clear and accessible. This kind of activity is really versatile too - I use as for cover lessons, as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m focusing on numbers in Spanish. Sopas de Letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on a range of vegetables in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include***masculine, feminine, singular and plural***, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocabulary - they may learn la patata, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. I’ve selected high-frequency vegetables, such as potato or cabbage, and also vegetables which may be new to some learners, such as asparagus or artichoke. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the ***letter j (ajo)***, which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (champiñones), as the tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with carrots, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test. There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a pepper, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. FRENCH REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE

(0)
KS3 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH KS4 FRENCH REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION 25 high-frequency reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys. This ten-page workbook is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French reflexive verbs - they can be quite tricky, particularly for students whose first language does not have a similar reflexive verb group. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation, with those with English as a first language for example frequently say je suis me brosser for I am brushing or similarly je fais me brosser for I do brush. There is the additional issue of the relevant reflexive pronoun, and its location in relation to the subject pronoun and verb. I’ve found that this kind of conjugation drills workbook really helps students to recognize and predict conjugation patterns. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. answer key Try this free sampler to see if this kind of activity would work well for your students: FRENCH CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-verbs-conjugation-practice-sampler-12307809 Have a browse in my store for more French grammar activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. *** A great instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency Spanish adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner Spanish into intermediate Spanish learning programmes - it’s an important step in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful Spanish adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing Spanish vocabulary in general. There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I generally use for Spanish vocabulary display, and plain. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on adjectives in Spanish for your students, the list is a good starting point. My students find this Spanish verbs recall worksheets freebie really helpful: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-adjectives-worksheets-freebie-1-12973157 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning resources, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

I encourage my beginner Spanish students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organizing their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning binders or folders. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string). I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I generally use for Spanish vocabulary display, and plain. Sopas de Letras are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on 25 fruits in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocab - they may learn la manzana, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. I’ve selected high-frequency fruits, such as apple or pear, and also fruits which may be new to some learners, such as redcurrant or starfruit. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the letter j (uvas rojas), which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (piña), as the tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with a lemon, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a raspberry, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing/spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. Learners can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. ITALIAN DAYS MONTHS SEASONS LIST FREEBIE

PRIMARY ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN VOCABULARY DAYS, MONTHS, SEASONS I create a lot of essential vocab lists for my language students, as they find them really useful, both in the classroom and at home. The lists work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I tend to use for target vocabulary display, or black wave. I use a background for vocabulary lists quite a lot, because it does make them more visually appealing, which is really important for language learners who do have a lot of vocabulary to learn.
