PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS POSTERS FLASHCARDS

(1)
**PRIMARY FRENCH CHRISTMAS KS3 CHRISTMAS FLASHCARDS POSTERS FRENCH CHRISTMAS CLASSROOM DISPLAY ** Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. I love to give my learning environment a really French Christmas feel - even my older students appreciate it. With my younger learners, it’s not about learning all the French Christmas vocabulary (30 is too many for young beginners), it’s about giving them daily opportunities to engage with the French language through guessing and spelling games, pronunciation practices and so on. I’ve included a selection of both generic Christmas words, such as bauble and Christmas tree, as well as more Francophone-specific words, such as Père Fouettard and la galette des Rois. The Christmas words are: = the angels = the Christmas stockings = the Christmas tree = Father Christmas/Santa Claus = Father Fouettard = the chocolate log = the Christmas candy canes = the crib/nativity scene = the Infant Jesus = The Three Kings/Wise Men = the snowman = the gingerbread man = the fireplace = the Christmas candle = the carol singers = the elves = the Kings’ cake = the Christmas baubles = the snowflakes = Santa’s sack = Santa’s sleigh = the reindeer = the Christmas presents = the holly = the mistletoe = the Christmas bells = the Christmas wreath = the Christmas star = Saint Nicholas = the Christmas twigs It doesn’t matter if some of the words don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are two backgrounds to choose from: blue winter or snow, so 60 posters / flashcards in total. They are in portrait A4 (8.5x11) format. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to display your French Christmas posters and use them as flashcards to introduce French Christmas words, as well as discuss similarities and differences in Christmas customs, for years to come! Mots Cachés are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 25 French Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some***Francophone Christmas traditions and figures***, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard, which is translated as Father Fouettard rather than Whipping Father. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about***French Christmas practices and customs***. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The vocabulary list features the definite article, though some grids also have the indefinite article for additional challenge. There are 5 French to French grids, where students are prompted with the French words, and look for them in French in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list to complete. There are also 5 English to French grids, where the prompts are given in English. Students look for the French translation in the grid. They also write the French translation of the English word. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer keys help them develop independence in their learning, and also provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with the French vocabulary. The word searches and answer keys are in landscape format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located. There is an alphabetical French-English Christmas vocabulary list which students find really helpful. The word searches are useful in a range of learning contexts - as starters, refreshers, finishers, fun-time fillers and for sub / cover lessons at any time during the Christmas / Holiday season. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. The set features 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs in the present tense. Some questions focus specifically on dative reflexive pronouns, as students may find these more challenging at first. There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats: = Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new regular German verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful German verb bank. = Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs = answer key The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. Some sentences include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, to ensure that students can practise locating the reflexive pronoun and verb or infinitive accurately. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus. There are three differentiated conjugation challenges: = Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them. = Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a German infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding German verb conjugation. = Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the German translation from an English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognize both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation. Please read the Terms of Use. French-speaking countries, capital cities and flags game cards provide great cross-curricular learning opportunities for any appropriate age group, at any time of the school year. Students can develop their language skills, as well as their knowledge of both the French-speaking and wider world, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The set features 41 countries / territories where French is an official language, with each picture card showing the continent and national flag, and the corresponding text card detailing continent, country and capital city. There is a set of detachable continent, country and capital city labels. Labelling is a really successful and popular learning activity. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the games help them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Les pays francophones. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. There is a country, capital city and flag reference list of all countries and capital cities, including the continent on which each is located. Students find it useful to read this through before playing I generally allow them only 60 seconds on a timer to really focus their reading and increase the sense of competition if we are playing competitive team games. I’ve described a range of popular games and activities in the product pack. The list can also be used as a year-round reference resource, which students can file in their workbooks or learning files. Laminate the cards and reference sheets if you can - it’s really worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. Play regularly for maximum learning potential. Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !

With structured speaking prompts, students are able to develop confidence in their German speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of German grammar too. There are 50 questions with 50 suggested responses, so 100 cards in total. The questions range in complexity and content. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt. There are several games and activities that my students enjoy, and I’ve described them for you to try with yours. The questions are aimed at advanced beginner German to intermediate German learners, though my advanced German students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The prompt cards offer structured talk opportunities, and focus on vocabulary, structures and general knowledge that students are generally engaging with from advanced beginner German level. They also address a broad range of grammar points, such as adjectival endings, possessive adjectives and word order. Some questions and answers include modal verbs and subordinating conjunctions, which makes conversational German more realistic and communicative. Students will not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging implicitly with new language, as well as practising and reinforcing the current language focus. Both the questions and answers are a starting point: as students develop more competence and confidence in their German, they recreate either similar exchanges, or create entirely new ones, using the given language as a frame of reference. This also helps them develop independent learning and creative writing skills, making the activities really useful for multi-skill language learning. The set also provides students with an opportunity to develop their translation skills in German from the beginning of their learning, which is very important: they see that ‘word for word’ is rarely, if ever, accurate, and that a correct translation means correctly conveying the meaning of a clause or sentence, rather than every word that appears in it. The set comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format: = 100 cards, 50 questions and 50 suggested responses in German (10 cards per page, 10 pages) Laminate these if possible, as they’re more learner-friendly, and they will remain in excellent condition for years, so they can used many times = 6-page booklet containing all the questions and answers in both German and English = 6-page translation activity booklet, translating from German into English = notes and recording sheets - if students don’t have class workbooks, they can use the sheets to make notes as they create new questions and responses, and write their completed versions out in full. These sheets are also useful for more formal assessment purposes if required. Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. They may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. These activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of French, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led***information about France*** lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the francophone world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English. The resource comprises the following non-editable files: 20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups:arts & culture; country; famous people; history and language. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other, and providing them with opportunity to apply learning and knowledge creatively. Over the school year, children should regularly add to their facts cards, which in time creates a fabulous bank of facts about France. Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes. Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned. 24 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There are some independent research questions, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about France. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning. question / comprehension cards recording sheet whole-group facts presentation & discussion MERCI BEACOUP, BON APPRENTISSAGE ET BON VOYAGE !

PRIMARY FRENCH ANIMALS BINGO 120 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS WITH SILENT BINGO CALLING - IDEAL FOR HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNER FRENCH TOO! I created these differentiated Primary French animals bingo games, building in a range of challenges, to help my students engage happily with their French. They work just as well with older learners too! They really enjoy playing games, and these bingo games are perfect for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. They’re also really useful for a focus on definite article and gender. The game isn’t actually about learning all the animals - 20 is too many in ‘one go’ - select your core vocab, with the additional animals useful for quick recall practice. There are 20 animals: the mouse the horse the dog the cat the crocodile the bird the fish the frog the pig the cow the tortoise/turtle the tiger the elephant the giraffe the lion the rabbit the monkey the chicken the spider the zebra There are 21 non-editable files: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages), in both colour and B&W. There are also 40 French word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). For additional challenge there are 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - this is a great way of consolidating vocab too. My students like to create their own word or picture grids for each other, so I’ve also included 4 12-square grid templates. I developed SILENT BINGO to provide my students with an alternative way of practising their vocab and general language skills - select a grid type for students - picture-only, French word or English word. Using the SILENT BINGO files, show each slide at varying speeds. Students cross off the corresponding word or picture. There are 5 different games of each type: picture-only, French words, English words. BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING POSTERS FLASHCARDS 62 posters / flashcards featuring 21 Spanish-speaking countries and 10 Portuguese-speaking countries with the countries, capital cities and flags, in Spanish. I've found having the posters in my classroom provides an instant introduction to the scope of the Spanish-speaking world, and seeing the countries where Portuguese, rather than Spanish, is spoken, prevents them confusing the two from the very beginning of their learning - my students do often tend to get them a little mixed up! The posters are great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. I often ask quick questions such as ¿Cuál es la capital de...?, ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? or ¿Se habla español o portugués en Brasil? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner language learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important. This works particularly with my beginner Spanish classes, as it's a great way of encouraging them to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish program. I've often found that there can be several (or more!) countries that students don't actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of the wider world. There are two backgrounds to choose from: Spanish / Portuguese flag or plain. Laminate them if you can, as they hang really well, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years. These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish. There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo. The animals are: a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse : a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel a turtle / tortoise : a wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

German Numbers 0-31 Challenge Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of German numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner German students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on German Numbers 0-31, but also for cover lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in German, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I've used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on German maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of maths is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other. The set comprises the following non-editable files: 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - it's definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they're far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years. 2-page answer recording sheet 2-page answer key essential learning support resource, encouraging students to develop more independence in their learning, and providing an additional opportunity to engage with language Have a browse in my store for more German independent learning activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß IN DER DEUTSCHSTUNDE!
