The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. French Telling the Time Dominoes Set 1 features analogue clocks times o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past the hour in French, with 3 games and 3 challenges. The games really help students develop their skill in telling the time in French in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, learning completely independently. Dominoes games are ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading. They are perfect for pair and small-group work too. Students work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino time-sequence line, on the classroom floor or on a long(ish) table, by matching the times and the clock faces. This kind of activity is really versatile, and useful not only during the introduction phase of learning these particular clock times, but at many times across the school year - for cover lessons, as starters, warm-ups, plenaries, practice & refresh, and also free-choice activity time - it’s a great idea to have a range of folders ready for students to select particular content according to what area they feel they’d like to work on. There are three games, each with a different challenge in the set: = Challenge One: times in numerical order, time phrase to clock face = Challenge Two: times in random order, time phrase to clock face = Challenge Three: times in random order, clock face to time phrase Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. GERMAN EUROPE POSTERS FLASHCARDS

(1)
GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS5 GERMAN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES, FLAGS POSTERS Files are non-editable in zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, amended, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These German Europe flashcards / posters are always really popular with my students and great for the beginning of a new school year to decorate your learning environment with specific learning goals. They’re really useful for creating and instant and comprehensive introduction to Europe in German. There are 144 portrait posters (A4, 8.5 x 11) in German showing European countries, capital cities and flags. They give your classroom a great multicultural look and feel, at the same time promoting German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your - and your students’ - classroom. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters can help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of European geography. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, to extend students’ knowledge of Europe a little further, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. I’ve also included two posters for some countries, such as France, officially known as Französische Republik - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used Frankreich to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. They’re ideal for the annual Europe Day celebration, and the European Day of Languages, as well as an all year round display. It’s definitely extra prep and expense, but I do always laminate my classroom display posters / flashcards - they hang on the walls more easily, and I recycle them to display at different times of the school year. There are two backgrounds to choose from - World Map or plain, so 144 posters in total. My students find this Europe countries and capitals list freebie helpful: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-europe-countries-and-capitals-list-freebie-12133858 Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including German cross-curricular resources, special offer bundles and freebies. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. School licenses are available. Please read the Terms of Use. 99 Spanish words & phrases, with matching English cards & vocabulary recall workbook My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. They find that this way of working really does help them to develop their confidence and embed the vocabulary into their longer-term memory. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. They love to quiz and test themselves and each other on a regular basis - it’s a very popular alternative to more traditional vocabulary drilling tasks and tests. The vocabulary groups are as follows: saludos : colores : partes del cuerpo : números 21-40 : el tiempo : frases útiles para la clase : preguntas y respuestas The Reference, Recall & Write book has 18 pages. It includes an alphabetical Spanish-English reference list of all 99 words & phrases. My students use their recall workbooks quite a few times, simply covering previous answers. This means that prep and paper are kept to a minimum. There are three written recall challenges: = Written Recall Challenge One students write the English word or phrase from a Spanish prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category = Written Recall Challenge Two with this challenge, students write the words or phrases in Spanish from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category = Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from Spanish to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category. This challenges the memory more than when the vocabulary is in the order learners first learn it in, with the additional challenge of moving between the two languages = Ideas, Notes and Next Steps encourages students to reflect on their progress = Card template for creative and practical application of language Laminate the game cards if you can - they are far more learner-friendly, and the additional prep and expense is definitely worth it, as the cards will last in excellent conditional for years. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom, in any way. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. *** An instant introduction to 25 fruits and 25 vegetables in German. I like to share essential beginner German vocabulary that I can use in everyday talk with my young learners from the beginning of their German learning programme. The key focus is on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. To maximise the learning potential of my German classroom display, I use the set as speaking prompts, such as Was ist das? to Ja / nein or Richtig / falsch questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite tricky in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist keine Karotte, das ist eine Kartoffel. and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practising the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohl; Ich habe den Blumenkohl. The fruits are: green apples : red apple : bananas : cherries : dates : fig : green grapes : red grapes : kiwi : lemon : mango : nectarine : olives : oranges : papaya : peach : pear : pineapple : pumpkin : raspberry : redcurrants : rhubarb : starfruit : strawberries : watermelon The vegetables are: artichoke : asparagus : beetroot : broccoli : cabbage : carrots : cauliflower : celery : corn : cucumber : eggplants / aubergines : French / green beans : garlic : leeks : lettuce : mushrooms : onions : peas : red peppers : yellow pepper : potatoes : sprouts : spinach : sweet potatoes : tomato The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two design formats to choose from - German flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum, so 50 flashcards / posters in total. I always print on card stock and / or laminate my flashcards / posters, as they display much more effectively, and remain in excellent condition for years. PRIMARY FRENCH TELLING TIME DISPLAY POSTERS These telling the time posters / flashcards are perfect for creating an instant introduction to telling the time in FRENCH. I’ve found that they’re really useful as visual prompts during lessons, as well as keeping the language fresh as students are introduced and practise how to tell the time. They’re ideal at any time during the school year, but especially as a BACK TO SCHOOL classroom decor resource - it’s good for students to have a focus on FRENCH in their learning environment - ideal for Primary French and Year 7 Beginner French too. The times are o’clock and half past the hour, including midday and midnight. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 56 posters / flashcards in total. Laminate them if you can - they are definitely easier to manipulate if you’re using as flashcards to introduce and/or practise language, and also to display - you’ll be able to use them over and over again for years too. GERMAN FOR CHILDREN PRIMARY GERMAN KS2 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN TELLING THE TIME I HAVE WHO HAS TWO GAMES, TWO CHALLENGES : FOCUS ON O’CLOCK, HALF PAST, QUARTER TO AND QUARTER PAST THE HOUR Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be amended, copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary German / KS2 German and KS3 / KS4 German students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in German, and for pronunciation practice too. Students often find half past the hour quite challenging in German, and they find the focused practice really useful. There are 8 clock faces per page, and I cut the cards in sets of 2, so four larger cards per page. This means that students can see two clock faces and times per game card, which really helps to consolidate learning. It’s also a lot less prep than cutting out eight individual cards, though I do actually have a set like this, which we use as a larger-size dominoes game. I always laminate my language learning cards - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. We usually set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games. There are two games, each with a different challenge: = Challenge 1: with all the the clock times in numerical order, Ich habe… Wer hat…? = Challenge 2: with the all the clock times in random order, which really helps recall and embedding new language, as students often learn time phrases in numerical order, Hast du…? Ja, (Nein) ich habe… Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß BEIM SPIELEN!

My students love to play these dominoes games and find them a lively and interactive alternative to more traditional vocabulary and grammar ‘drilling’ activities. They enjoy being able to work and learn independently, and I give them regular chances during the school year to play. The focus is on 99 high-frequency GERMAN verbs in the infinitive form. There are 3 games, each with a differentiated level of challenge. CHILLOUT CHALLENGE features the verbs in alphabetical order, GERMAN to English CHAMPION CHALLENGE features the verbs in topsy-turvy order, GERMAN to English SUPERCHARGED CHALLENGE features the verbs in topsy-turvy order, ENGLISH to GERMAN - your students will really have to know their GERMAN verbs to complete this sequence in record time! I’ve included reference sheets of all verbs in both alphabetical and topsy-turvy order for students to use as a learning support resource. I’ve classed the game as suitable for ages 11-18, because it really does depend on when your students begin GERMAN - the games work well with any appropriate year group, depending on their starting point. There’s a bit of prep - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games because they last for years, so laminating is definitely worth the time and effort. The resource is non-editable. Ideal for cross-curricular learning in French class: students can develop their knowledge of the geography of Europe in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. At the same time, students are developing their French language skills: speaking, listening and reading in particular, as well as broadening their French vocabulary. We play both as a whole-group team quiz, and in pairs or small groups on a regular basis - students are particularly keen to see if they can beat their own points record, and are really motivated by their developing knowledge. The set contains all European countries and capital cities, including some island communities such as the Faroe Islands and Guernsey. Each question has 4 answers to choose from. The correct answer is given in capital letters. The quiz cards are numbered, but questions can be asked in random order too: simply place all the cards in a bowl, box or tin, and work your way through. There are two quiz challenges: Challenge 1 gives the country as a prompt, with four possible capital cities to choose from. Challenge 2 gives the capital city as a prompt, with four possible countries to choose from. This challenge uses the definite article in the responses to help consolidate students’ knowledge of the gender of individual countries . French verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of common French verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 99 high-frequency French verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the French and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different. There are three games, each with a different level of challenge: Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, French to English Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also French to English Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to French, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall There’s a full alphabetical French-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified. To ensure successful learning, play regularly as you work with verbs and vocabulary - against a timer in teams works well to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence - students genuinely enjoy seeing if they can beat their own time record. There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again. GERMAN VERBS DOMINOES #1

GCSE GERMAN DOMINOES GAMES High-frequency German verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency German verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 99 common German verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the German and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different. There are three games, each with a different level of challenge: Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, German to English Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also German to English Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to German, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall There’s a full alphabetical German-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Dominoes games work really well in language learning as a free-choice activity - I have folders of resources for students to select their own activity, according to what they feel they would most like to revisit. We have free-choice activity time every few lessons for a half hour or so, which also provides a welcome break from the particular target focus. There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order. = Challenge 3: the final challenge requires students to write the corresponding French verb from an English prompt. The English verbs are also in random order. This challenge really helps with vocabulary recall, which is quite challenging when vocabulary does not appear in the context of a sentence.
