Ideal for Primary French and Year 7 French. Word searches provide the perfect opportunity for young and beginning students of French to engage with the written French word, while developing essential beginners French vocabulary. They are easily differentiated - and the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I've indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows. There are 5 French to French grids, with an additional vocabulary list to complete for extra spelling practice. There are also 5 English to French grids with a vocabulary list to complete, which is a really successful way of consolidating vocabulary. Each grid has an accompanying answer key, giving students an additional opportunity to engage with language, and to develop more independence in their learning. The word searches are really versatile, and useful in a range of learning contexts, such as starters, refreshers, fun-time fillers, cover lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year. The differentiated questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. The questions are entirely in French, with some translation questions both from French into English, and English into French. It’s important to help students understand as soon as possible that translation does not mean simply exchanging word for word, and that languages do work in different ways to express the same things. GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE WHO HAS FREEBIE

(13)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN NUMBERS GAMES ACTIVITIES German Numbers 0-31 I have, Who has… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in German. The game has a***multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading out loud***, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a German number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card null, and ending with the final card, einunddreißig. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner German learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult German learners, who really enjoy it too. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word, and how to link sound with spelling. Try to print in colour if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning - and the monster theme is popular with all ages and grades! Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little harder on their concentration, pronunciation and reading out loud skills. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best German accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! Have a browse in my store for more German active learning activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resources boxes, and lots of freebies too! FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL FREEBIE

(2)
PRIMARY FRENCH KS2 FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL It’s easy to create an instant introduction to French Numbers 0-21 with this set of word wall cards, featuring beginning numbers that I like to share with my young learners of French. They’re really useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing and mental math games, using these as a visual prompt. Although I tend to get my students to prepare the word wall header, I’ve included one here, as we often have both on our wall. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. The cards to look great in colour, but are still really nice if you prefer to print in B&W to keep costs down. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate as it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense. The word wall cards hang really nicely, and they remain in excellent condition for a long time, so you’ll be able to use the***French Numbers Word Wall*** for years. SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS FREEBIE #2

(2)
PRIMARY SPANISH KS2 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH SPANISH COLOURS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español 8 posters / flashcards These 4***adjectival agreement*** posters, with a focus on the colour verde, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - for example, I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between el monstruo verde and los monstruos verdes. Giving learners the opportunity to look very closely at language, to identify similarities and differences with their first language, as well as rules and patterns in the target language, is a really key language teaching and learning strategy. I use high-frequency beginner Spanish vocabulary to do this. As students build their vocabulary, with increasing understanding of gender and gender agreement, they are able to apply those rules and patterns to new language. I use questions such as Verdadero o falso? El monstruo verdes? , really emphasizing pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard too, as it’s equally important that they are able to***recognise the differences in the written words*** too, and to link sound with spelling . Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. It doesn’t matter if this particular language doesn’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in Spanish, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the flashcards / posters if possible - they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use them for many years to come! Have a browse in my store for more Spanish flashcards / posters, and a wide range of other teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! EFL ESL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-100 LIST Create an instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency beginner English vocabulary. I’ve found that these kinds of reference lists are a really successful learning support resource, and are really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. I designed this specifically for my young and/or beginning learners of English, and it’s suitable for a range of ages and learning stages. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag, which I often use for display in the EFL ESL ELL classroom, or black wave. The numbers are written across single page in landscape format - I use this for more experienced English learners, who are a little more comfortable with reading in***English***- the font is fairly small. ENGLISH VERBS LIST FREEBIE

(2)
ESL EFL ENGLISH VERBS LIST reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency English verbs. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 100 high-frequency and common English verbs that students generally need in the advanced beginning to intermediate stages of their English Language learning programmes. It includes regular and irregular verbs, with some modals. They are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize English verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning the verbs all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English verb vocabulary. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which I tend to use as part of a grammar display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more English vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other English language teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN VERBS DOMINOES #1

(2)
GCSE GERMAN DOMINOES GAMES High-frequency German verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency German verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 99 common German verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the German and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different. There are three games, each with a different level of challenge: Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, German to English Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also German to English Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to German, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall There’s a full alphabetical German-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified. To ensure successful learning, play regularly as you work with verbs and vocabulary - against a timer in teams works well to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence - students genuinely enjoy seeing if they can beat their own time record. Dominoes games work really well in language learning as a free-choice activity - I have folders of resources for students to select their own activity, according to what they feel they would most like to revisit. We have free-choice activity time every few lessons for a half hour or so, which also provides a welcome break from the particular target focus. There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again. FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUSING ON 25 FRENCH -ER VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I've found it's really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner to intermediate French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and work on the imperfect tense a little more. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. The resource is structured as follows: * Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French. * Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. KS3 ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS FREEBIE 12 differentiated challenge cards focusing on Italian Numbers 0-31. The cards are labelled A-L, so that you can use them together with the full set, which gives 48 cards in total. The full set of 36 differentiated challenge cards description is as follows: KS3 ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-31 CHALLENGE CARDS really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of Italian numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Italian. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Italian Numbers 0-31, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in Italian, but also to enjoy working with Italian, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge in terms of language and calculation, though they are designed for advanced beginner Italian language learners, who will generally be more advanced in their maths skills. The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy putting questions together for each other. All the questions are in Italian, which really helps students develop language awareness skills, use their***prior learning to progress current learning***, and encouraging them to infer meaning from context.
