FRENCH VOCABULARY CHRISTMAS GAMES CARDS & QUIZ #1

(1)
FRENCH CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES - CHRISTMAS IS ON ITS WAY! 99 BEGINNERS FRENCH WORDS & PHRASES, 198 MATCHING FRENCH & ENGLISH VOCAB CARDS WITH A 60-QUESTION MULTI-SKILL QUIZ! I think students appreciate the chance to try something new in lessons during the run-up to Christmas, and I always have several sets of vocab cards that they can revisit language we learnt earlier in the year - it really is the perfect time to practice and consolidate knowledge. The Christmas theme gets them feeling pretty festive, and they’re more than happy to work independently together, selecting the areas of vocab they feel they’d like to focus on. There are lots of games they enjoy playing, and I’ve described several that are really popular. The quiz works well as a whole-group quiz, but I always give my students a pdf version that they can load on to tablets to play the quiz in small groups if they prefer to do it that way. The French vocabulary I’ve focused on here is a selection of: Les salutations Les jours de la semaine Les mois de l’année Les quatre saisons de l’année Les nombres 0 à 31 Les couleurs Quelques pays du monde Please read the Terms of Use carefully. NEWLY-UPDATED POSTERS COMING SOON! PRIMARY FRENCH YEAR 7 FRENCH DISPLAY FLASHCARDS POSTERS - CREATE AN INSTANT INTRODUCTION TO THE ANIMAL KINGDOM IN YOUR CLASSROOM IN FRENCH - PERFECT FOR READING, SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION PROMPTS TOO! This set of 20 A4 portrait posters offers a great introduction to the animal kingdom in FRENCH. The posters also create a fabulous FRENCH feel and look to your learning environment, as a ‘general’ display, or for when you are focusing specifically on animals in your FRENCH lessons. They’re useful as a visual prompt for gender and indefinite article, and work really well as flashcards too. It doesn’t matter if some of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters give learners daily opportunities to engage with the written FRENCH word, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words and cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in FRENCH. They’re a great prompt for cross-curricular learning too, particularly when learners are exploring the animal kingdom and habitats in science. Featured in this set: - ant - butterfly - camel - caterpillar - chameleon - dolphin - flamingo - goose - jaguar - koala bear - otter - panda bear - shark - sloth - squirrel - turkey - vulture - walrus - worm - zebra This resource consists of a single, non-editable file. FRENCH ER VERBS NEAR FUTURE TENSE

(1)
GCSE FRENCH NEAR FUTURE TENSE -ER VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE, featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs. I've used these kinds of quick conjugation workbooks for years with my students, and they find them really useful. They like to practise the conjugations regularly across the school year, and with the answer key, they're able to work and learn completely independently. The workbook's really versatile - I use them in lots of different contexts, for example for directed practice when I'm introducing the near future tense, for free-choice class time, for vacation practice, for home learning and for sub lessons. The 10-page workbook has this structure: * Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French * Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: CHALLENGE 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation CHALLENGE 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French CHALLENGE 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt There's a Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills. We also note down any new verbs we meet, which enables students to build up their own verb vocab bank. It's a great tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really successful and popular activity. Each workbook has an accompanying 6-page answer key book - this is absolutely essential in my opinion - answer keys help students develop more insight and independence in their learning, and of course, self and peer assessing does give them a further opportunity to engage with the conjugations - additionally, they really enjoy correcting each others' work! There are 3 non-editable files in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. PRIMARY MATHS TIMES TABLES 1-6 CARDS

(1)
TIMES TABLES MATHS FOR EARLY YEARS PRIMARY MATHS Multiplication tables 1-6 cards, with matching question and answer cards. I've used these in school and for homeschooling too. Children really enjoy sorting out the cards, on a large table (and often on the floor!) and working independently, either alone, in pairs or in small groups. I always give children a reference mat - it's a great way of ensuring everyone can enjoy the games, and lets them check their answers too. I've numbered the question cards, which helps children track their answer when they're looking at the reference mat. My Monster Maths cards are a firm favourite (in French and Spanish too!) with young learners - they find the visual aspect really engaging, which is such an important element to helping them engage with the content happily and with confidence. They are ideal for small-group and intervention work. I always laminate learning cards and reference mats, because they're so much easier to work with - and they last for years! I've uploaded a black and white version too, which can really help to keep costs down. The files are non-editable in a zip file, and are copyright. All rights are reserved. The files can't be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. THANKS AND HAVE LOTS OF MONSTER MATHS FUN!

PRIMARY LATIN ANIMALS CARDS

(1)
IDEAL FOR DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE AND PRACTISING LANGUAGE SKILLS IN LATIN! LATIN ANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of LATIN. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the general absence of determiners in LATIN too. It doesn’t matter if any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with LATIN and to begin to identify similarities with ENGLISH - encourage children to look for cognates and near-cognates such as DINOSAURUS and ELEPHANTUS for example. The games also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using linguistic as well as visual clues and prompts. For example, can they recognise CANINE from the LATIN word for dog? They may even know the adjective VULPINE - can they identify this from the noun for fox, VULPES? Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals and enhance their vocabulary in English too! There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 DECKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games: DECK 1: matching LATIN & ENGLISH cards, with both the picture and the word. The ENGLISH cards have a different frame, with blackline pictures. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink. DECK 2: this pack features word-only cards in LATIN, with a matching set of picture-only cards. This is really useful for a focus on word recognition and recall. I’ve included a word & picture reference sheet for children to read through before they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference. The animals featured are: - bee - bird - cat - cow - dinosaur - dog - donkey - elephant - fish - fox - frog - giraffe - goose - horse - lion - mouse - owl - rabbit - spider - whale The resource consists of two, non-editable files. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully; the resource is copyright, and for single-teacher/purchaser use only. GRATIA PLENA!

PRIMARY LATIN ANIMALS BINGO

(1)
PRIMARY LATIN AND YEAR 7 LATIN Latin animals bingo games: an ideal activity for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. It’s also really useful for a focus on the general ‘absence’ of article in Latin, as well as gender. The pack includes 21 non-editable files: ONE & TWO: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl. Depending on the size of your class, you should have several winners per game! You might prefer to laminate the grids, especially if you are printing in color - students can use wipe-clean pens, and you can recycle the grids many times. Color and B&W. THREE: 40 LATIN word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). FOUR: 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). FIVE: 4 12-square grid template for students to create their own word or picture grids for each other. SIX: 1 LATIN and 1 English calling card, with all the words written in full. SEVEN TO TWENTY-ONE: 15 SILENT BINGO games, with detailed games instructions The animals I’ve chosen include both masculine and feminine nouns, with some cognates. This maximizes opportunity to practice grammatical concepts and develop linguistic awareness too. Please read the TERMS OF USE carefully - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. FRENCH ER VERBS PERFECT TENSE

(1)
GCSE FRENCH KS4 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with complete answer key. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, language learners do often try to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the language they are learning, and with students whose first language is English, I frequently see students confusing the use of the auxiliaries avoir and être for example. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verbs in the present tense to ensure that they can form the perfect tense accurately. In terms of the past participle, students begin to be able to predict it accurately, the more they see it, and construct it. I also refer frequently the differences in usage between English and French in the perfect tense, which are quite significant. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE

(1)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 German KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, with the German present tense, I encourage students to look for patterns across all the verbs, such as the singular pronouns, including the pronoun man form being identical, pointing out also that man is commonly used in German, often also meaning we, unlike the pronoun one in English. Students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation, and I frequently see attempts such as ich bin mich waschen for I am getting washed or similarly***ich mache / tue mich erinnern*** for I do remember. The workbook comprises the following: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Try this free sampler: GERMAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-conjugation-practice-example-12154187 This resource consists of non-editable files in a zipped format. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. For example, students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation in their first language, and the language they are learning, and those with English as a first language frequently look for a word that is the equivalent of would, until they familiarise themselves with the fact that the notion of conditional is indicated in the verb ending. I see this a lot with the future tense too, and tend to introduce both tenses quite closely together. It’s also easy to confuse the future tense endings with the conditional tense endings, and targeted practice helps to address that really well. The resource is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Italian across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. ADVANCED ITALIAN INTERMEDIATE ITALIAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE PLUPERFECT TENSE The workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency regular and irregular verbs Italian ARE verbs in the pluperfect tense (trapassato prossimo). There are three differentiated ‘quick conjugation’ challenges, each with 50 conjugation questions, so 150 conjugations in total. My students really enjoy learning and practicing their conjugation skills with these kinds of workbooks, and I’ve created a series of them that they can access whenever they feel they need to do a little extra work on their conjugation. There’s also a 6-page answer key workbook - for me, answer keys are an integral element of the learning process with this kind of activity - they certainly help students develop more independence in their learning (and they do enjoy correcting their own and particularly each others’ work!), and they give students further opportunity to engage with the learning focus. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written Italian is accurate, and that their understanding of Italian across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. **MATHS FOR EARLY YEARS - ADDITION AND SUBTRACTION NUMBERS 0-20 GAMES CARDS - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING NUMERACY SKILLS - 72 CALCULATIONS ** MONSTER MATHS MATCHING GAME CARDS are perfect for practising addition and subtraction, focusing on numbers up to 20. Children can work together or alone, challenging each other and themselves to calculate correctly in order to find the right answer. The monster theme is really popular with children too, and the physical nature of the games is effective for all learners, particularly those who tend to favour kinaesthetic learning activities. I’ve found that the games work particularly well for small group and intervention or additional support work. They’re perfect for rainy day games both at school and at home too! Children enjoy working both at their own pace, and also sometimes with a little competitive edge in teams, using a timer to really challenge themselves - can they beat their own time record? Revisit regularly to map both improved number recognition and calculation skill, as well as increasing confidence. The question cards are numbered, which helps children track their responses when they refer to the answer key. Having access to the answer key helps facilitate both self– and peer assessment in the matching game, and enables children to become a little more independent in their learning. They can easily identify which questions and responses are either addition or subtraction by looking for the +/- sign, and also the position of the monster on the card. Laminate the cards and answer keys if you can - you’ll be able to use them for years to come! I’ve included both a colour and a B&W version of the cards and answer keys, which is helpful if you need to keep prep costs down. This resource consists of four non-editable files in a zipped format. GERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS

(1)
PRIMGERMAN FRUITS & VEGETABLES FLASHCARDS POSTERS two sets of flashcards @ $1.80 each in the bundle Das Obst und Gemüse auf Deutsch 25 fruits & 25 vegetables in German, definite article, masculine & feminine, singular & plural. Using flashcards to introduce and practice language is a popular and successful language teaching and learning method, providing lots of opportunity for vocabulary games and recall. The flashcards are equally useful as classroom posters, keeping key target language prominent and visible, as well as creating a really German ambiance in the learning environment. I use this set to gradually introduce and work on the concept of gender, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward Was ist das? to Ja/nein or Richtig/falsch questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as plurals or particularly negative sentences, which can be quite tricky in German, and often requires a lot of practice Nein, das ist kein Apfel, das ist eine Banane and so on. This kind of vocabulary is really useful for an implicit approach to introducing and practicing the accusative of articles too, for example Ich habe einen Blumenkohol, Ich habe den Blumenkohl. The key focus on on the definite article, both masculine and feminine, singular and plural, though I do use the set to start to compare these with the indefinite article, which I’ve found to be a really successful way of helping students embed grammatical concepts such as gender, implicitly, without the need for repeated explicit instruction. It’s good to move away from predominantly teacher-led activities, and after the initial introduction phase, I have students take turns manipulating the cards and asking the questions. Again, this is a really popular activity, and a very easy way of enabling students to practise asking questions, instead of always responding to them. The fruits are: green apples; red apple; bananas; cherries; dates; fig; green grapes; red grapes; kiwi; lemon; mango; nectarine; olives; oranges; papaya; peach; pears; pineapple; pumpkin; raspberry; redcurrants; rhubarb; starfruit; strawberries; watermelon The vegetables are: artichoke; asparagus; beetroot; broccoli; cabbage; carrots; cauliflower; celery; corn; cucumber; eggplants/aubergines; French/green beans; garlic; leeks; lettuce; mushrooms; onions; peas; red peppers; yellow pepper; potatoes; sprouts; spinach; sweet potatoes; tomato The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 100 posters in total. The fruits and vegetables are in my store separately, at £3.00 each. GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES

(1)
GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES - FIVE DIFFERENTIATED GERMAN CITIES WORD SEARCHES WITH ANSWER KEYS AND GRID TEMPLATE - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING GERMAN LANGUAGE SKILLS AND DISCOVERING MAJOR CITIES IN GERMANY Word searches are great for encouraging students to engage with the written word in German - they refresh and reinforce language as they complete each grid. Students get a really good introduction to, and overview of, the geography of Germany and a range of major German cities in a slightly different way. We talk about other cities and towns students may know or discover too. With this set, each grid increases in challenge, and students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key. I always give my students answer keys for these types of activity - it’s an additional opportunity to engage with language, it helps them develop more independence in their learning, and they genuinely enjoy ‘correcting’ their own and especially each others’ work. The templates help students apply their knowledge of language more creatively and practically - and they can include cities they discover too. The reference sheet works well as a long-term reference resource, not just for these particular word searches. I use word searches in a range of contexts, not only when we’re looking specifically at the focus language - they’re great for starters, for free-choice activities, for sub lessons and so on.
