The resource is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. **THANKS AND ENJOY I like to have sets of super simple worksheets that I can give to my young beginner learners of English, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell the time. I give my students these worksheets at the same time as introducing the time set, so that they can practise and embed both recognising the time, and writing the time phrase itself. Students really enjoy the opportunity to test their recall too. The worksheets are useful in a number of contexts: I use them for sub lessons, as starters, plenaries, five-minute refreshers and home learning activities. I occasionally use them for more formal assessment purposes too. Students also find this How to tell the time in English half past the hour list freebie helpful: HOW TO TELL THE TIME IN ENGLISH : HALF PAST THE HOUR LIST FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/english-telling-time-half-past-list-freebie-12633331 Have a browse in my store for more English super simple worksheets, and a wide range of other English teaching and learning materials, with English resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom. The license is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. The resource is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. Twenty fruits in Italian, with both words and pictures - I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Italian, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. Children glue them into their Italian vocabulary books, or file them in their Italian vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Italian vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. We also discuss which fruits we know and like, and those we would like to try. Children like to create their own word and picture dictionary lists, adding to it as they learn more. I don’t necessarily have all the fruits in my teaching and learning plan, but it’s always a good idea to give children opportunity to engage with a broader range of words and sounds, which they begin to absorb quite naturally. The fruits focus on the definite article, either singular or plural, which is a great for promoting discussion about grammatical concepts in Italian, specifically gender of Italian nouns. The fruits are: the red apple the bananas the cherries the fig the green grapes the lemon the mangos the nectarine the olives the oranges the papaya the peach the pears the pineapple the pumpkin the raspberry the rhubarb the starfruit the strawberries the watermelon There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I use for Italian vocabulary display, or plain. PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH FOR CHILDREN FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 LIST FREEBIE I encourage my beginner French students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organising their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning files or folders. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string). I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag, which I generally use for French vocabulary display, and plain. The background does help to make vocabulary lists a little more visually appealing for students, particularly for classroom decor, which is a real motivator for learning. ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS ADJECTIVES LIST FREEBIE #1

ESL EFL ENGLISH FOR GERMAN SPEAKERS BEGINNER ENGLISH INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH ADJECTIVES LIST A great instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency English adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a first collection of 25 high-frequency English adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner English into intermediate English learning programmes - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful English adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognise English adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in German - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at comparing adjectives in English and German, most particularly the lack of adjectival endings and agreement in English, which is a new concept for German speakers. With a broader and richer adjectives vocabulary, students are able to produce more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing English vocabulary in general. There are two alphabetical lists - one English-German, and one German-English, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which I tend to use as part of a grammar display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocabulary lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocabulary to work through and learn. Have a browse in my store for more English vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other English teaching and learning resources, with English resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ENGLISCH ALS ZWEITSPRACHE ENGLISCH ALS FREMDSPRACHE ENGLISH CONJUNCTIONS & CONNECTIVES FOR GERMAN-SPEAKING LEARNERS OF ENGLISH an instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency English conjunctions and connectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 35 high-frequency common English conjunctions and connectives that students will meet in the advanced beginner English to intermediate English stages of English learning programmes. It’s also useful as a vocabulary audit for students embarking upon advanced English. An important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognise English conjunctions and connectives, and are confident with the meaning of those words in German, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 35 conjunctions and connectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. There are two alphabetical lists - one English-German and one German-English, as I’ve found that most language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. This particular sheet is for my more experienced Latin learners, who’ve been learning Latin for a while - all the numbers and numerals are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible - I also have a version in my store that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across four pages in portrait format My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). GERMAN SEPARABLE VERBS CONDITIONAL TENSE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS3 GERMAN CONDITIONAL TENSE REGULAR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German separable verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German and KS4 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example, although usage of the conditional tense in both English and German is largely similar, there are some differences, notably the position of the accompanying key verb in the infinitive form at the end of the clause or sentence, rather than directly following the auxiliary. Students also need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary, in this case werden in the conditional tense. Conjugating werden in the conditional tense, and placing it together with the accompanying verb in the infinitive form is a fixed pattern, with which students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation in this tense. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! GCSE GERMAN KSS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency regular German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. GCSE GERMAN KSS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! These French numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in French, also giving the learning environment fabulous French look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of French learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how French words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson. It doesn’t matter if you’re not focusing on numbers at any particular time - classroom display provides learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave, so 64 posters in all. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my flashcards and displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years. Have a browse in my store for more French flashcards / posters, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning materials, with French resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies.
