GERMAN REFLEXIVE VERBS FUTURE TENSE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN FUTURE TENSE REFLEXIVE VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency reflexive German verbs, including some which are not essentially reflexive, such as sich kaufen, so that students can practice the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced KS3 German students who are beginning to work with compound sentences and longer texts, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in German. I tend to introduce the future tense along with the conditional tense, as I’ve found this can help students consolidate the pattern of conjugation very quickly, and it also helps them understand the distinction between will and would, particularly the fine distinction between the notion of intent in both German and English. Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written German is accurate, and that their understanding of German across the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully. The resource has the following structure: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key Have a browse in my store for more German grammar activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with special offer bundles and lots of freebies too! GERMAN CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
KS5 GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN ADVANCED GERMAN CONDITIONAL PERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for KS5 German and advanced German students who have a sound understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of a range of tenses and mood in German, and have a solid grasp of verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the relevant tenses. It’s actually really useful to introduce the conditional perfect tense in German fairly closely with the future perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage. Grammar books are not consistent with grammatical terminology, so in this context, the conditional perfect is I would have done or I would have been for example. I’ve used hätte & past participle or wäre & past participle as ich würde gemacht haben or ich würde gewesen sein are no longer commonly used in the way that ich hätte gemacht or ich wäre gewesen is for example. The conjugation is structured in the same way as the Konjunktiv II Plusquamperfekt, which is often called the pluperfect subjunctive in English grammatical terminology, though of course, the usage is different. GERMAN IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

(0)
GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency regular & irregular German verbs in the imperfect tense, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, 150 quick conjugations and complete answer key ideal for advanced KS3 German and KS4 German students who are developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation in German, and working with notion of past tense in German. I do tend to introduce the perfect tense and imperfect tense fairly closely together, as usage of the tenses is not directly equivalent with English for example, particularly in spoken German. The workbook focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, but I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their German conjugation skills are developing well, which is a key step in creating and producing correct German, in both oral and written form. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE

GCSE GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN KS5 GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for advanced KS4 German and KS5 Germanstudents who have a sound baseline understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of past tense in German, and distinguishing between verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the perfect and pluperfect tense. It’s actually really useful to introduce the pluperfect tense in German fairly closely with the perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practice both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the imperfect tense, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation. FRENCH CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(0)
PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 CHRISTMAS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE Mots Cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie word search features fourteen French Christmas words, which helps to develop students’ awareness of some Francohphone Christmas traditions and figures, such as Saint Nicholas and Père Fouettard. I use this as a prompt to stimulate discussion about French Christmas practices and customs, and we talk about what students know about other Christmas traditions around the world. The nouns feature masculine and feminine, singular and plural and both definite and indefinite articles, which is a great way of working on and consolidating those grammatical concepts too. I always give answer keys to my word searches - that works really well in terms of helping students work and learn independently together without me, and gives them even more opportunity to engage with French. They’re a great teacher time-saver too, which is always a bonus! I use word searches as starters, refreshers, plenaries or fun-time fillers at any time during the Christmas season, not only if I’m introducing French Christmas vocabulary. Have a browse in my store for more French Christmas resources, with lots of freebies too - try this set of 10 differentiated French Christmas word searches @ £3! https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-french-christmas-word-searches-12012514 The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 FREEBIE #1

(0)
PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick Latin vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. I’ve put the numbers across four pages, because the size of the font is really important for all learners, but especially for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. I have also uploaded a number reference sheet I give my more experienced Latin learners - it’s in landscape format, with all the numbers on a single sheet, so the font size is smaller - students who’ve been learning Latin for a while are comfortable with quite a lot of text on a single page. Have a browse in my store for more Latin vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Latin teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resources boxes, and lots of freebies too! PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocab quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced Latin learners, who’ve been learning Latin for a while - all the numbers and numerals are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible - I also have a version in my store that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across four pages in portrait format My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). There are three backgrounds to choose from - color, which I tend to use for vocab display, black wave - the backgrounds do help to make vocab lists a little more visually appealing for students who have a lot of vocab to learn, particularly at the beginning of their language studies, or plain - which definitely saves on ink! GERMAN BREAKFAST WORD WALL

(0)
PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN BEGINNER GERMAN BREAKFAST WORD WALL Deutsch für Kinder Das Frühstück Word Wall 18 scrumptious breakfast items. Displaying key vocabulary in the German classroom is a really simple and successful way of creating a German ambiance, showing***language in its real-world use***, and keeping language fresh in students’ minds, particularly in the introductory phase of that particular vocabulary set. There are 18 breakfast items in this word wall, though I may not actually have all the items in my learning plan. I tend to include additional language to help students develop language skills and awareness in general. There is implicit grammatical input, with a focus on the definite article in German, a range of masculine, feminine and neuter, singular and plural. We look at cognates and near-cognates, and talk about similarities and differences between the words in German and English. We discuss breakfast in general, what we like to eat, or we’d like to try. In this way, the word wall becomes a real learning tool, and not simply attractive classroom decor. The breakfast items are: bacon : yoghurt : cup of coffee : cereal : jam : pancakes : croissant : waffles porridge : orange juice : milk : boiled egg & boiled eggs (useful for looking at singular/plural differences) : fried egg : toast : bread rolls : syrup : tea There are two headers: Guten Appetit! and Das Frühstück. Students enjoy creating their own headers too, as well as adding to the number of breakfast items as they develop their German vocabulary. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format, which ensures the words are big enough for students to be able to read from various locations in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. I always print my word walls on robust card stock and/or laminate, because they hang really well, and last in excellent condition for years, meaning I can keep recycling them, keeping prep and expense to a minimum. Have a look at this German Numbers 0-21 word wall freebie to see whether this word wall design would work well in your classroom: GERMAN NUMBERS 0-21 WORD WALL https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-german-numbers-0-21-word-wall-12441122 Have a browse in my store for more German word walls, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. SPANISH NUMBERS 0-20 WORD SEARCHES

PRIMARY KS3 SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 Los números cero - veinte: diez sopas de letras! I like to create word searches for my young beginner learners of Spanish - they really are a great way of providing students with opportunities not only to embed their vocab, but also to engage with the written word and spelling in Spanish. They are really easy to differentiate, ensuring that students have a series of progressive challenges. I use word searches regularly, and have a stock of them ready in folders - they’re ready to go for starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers or activities for cover lessons, at any time during the school year, as well as when I’m introducing numbers in Spanish. Great for high school beginner Spanish too! In this set, there are five Spanish to Spanish grids, with the Spanish words as prompts. Students then find them in Spanish in the grid. A great way of really consolidating vocab is to get students to complete the word list on the grid sheet too. There are also five English to Spanish grids. With these, the prompt words are in English, so students have to know the correct Spanish word in order to find it in the grid. There’s a word list to complete on these too. As the challenge increases, the words appear in an increasing number of different directions, and students can identify which directions they’re looking for by referring to the arrow key on each grid. I always give my students answer keys for this kind of activity - they help students develop more independence in their learning, give them an additional chance to engage with the language, and they really enjoy correcting their own and each others’ work! The word searches are in landscape format, as this mirrors the common direction of reading from left to right in English, and in my experience, this is really useful for young beginner Spanish learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with the written word in Spanish. Try this Spanish fruits word search freebie - you’ll be able to see whether the word searches will work well with your learners: SPANISH FRUITS WORD SEARCH FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-spanish-fruits-word-search-freebie-12498663 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish word searches, and a wide range of Spanish teaching & learning materials, with lots of freebies too! LATIN VERBS CARDS 1

LATIN GRAMMAR LATIN VERBS LATIN VOCABULARY **PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LATIN LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTISING AND REVISING 99 ESSENTIAL LATIN VERBS! ** This set of games and activities featuring 99 high-frequency Latin verbs offers an interactive and communicative alternative to ‘traditional’ vocabulary and grammar drilling activities, and really does help to create a lively and multi-skill language learning environment. The Latin-English alphabetical reference list of all 99 verbs in the infinitive form, with the first person singular conjugated, works well as a learning support resource. The cards are versatile, and can be used for a number of language learning games; I’ve described several games you can play and ways you can use them in the classroom. They’re great for a ready-made quick vocab quiz too! The game card template lets your students put their knowledge of Latin verbs to the test as they create cards for each other - preferably from memory! There are 198 matching Latin and English verb cards - it’s a lot of prep, particularly if you laminate them - but it’s definitely worth the effort, as they last for years, and are very popular with students across the entire school year. The Reference, Recall and Write workbook has 18 pages, and is best photocopied double-sided, and double-stapled in workbook format for students to work through either in direct class time, or as independent learning at home. I encourage my students to complete the NOTES AND NEXT STEPS TEMPLATE regularly to help them reflect on their learning, and to set progress targets. We also use this to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is also a really useful activity. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges: Recall Challenge One Students recall and write all the verbs in English from a Latin prompt - the Latin verbs are in alphabetical order Recall Challenge Two Students recall and write all the verbs in English from a Latin prompt, with the verbs appearing in random, rather than alphabetical order Recall Challenge Three Students recall and write all the verbs, including the conjugation of the first person singular, in Latin from an English prompt. There are 2 non-editable files in a zipped format; the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way. Please read the Terms of Use. PRIMARY LATIN FRUITS BINGO

PRIMARY LATIN FRUITS BINGO LATIN FRUITS BINGO GAMES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS AND 40 CALLING CARDS Bingo games are perfect for language learning, and they’re really easy to differentiate. All my students, regardless of age, find playing the games a great way of consolidating their vocab, and developing their Latin language skills in general - bingo is absolutely perfect for speaking, listening, reading and writing/spelling. In this set I’ve included 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Latin, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocab - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’! It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo master or mistress too, meaning they can play quite independently. There are twelve Latin fruits in masculine, feminine, neuter, singular & plural: the apple the lemon the oranges the peach the raspberries the pineapple the olive the pear the bananas the grapes the strawberry the watermelon I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocab consolidation and listening skills. There are 40 9-square grids in total, and there’s a set of color (which I sometimes laminate so that I can just get them out whenever I need to - make sure students have wipe-clean pens on their tables!). I’ve also included the same grids in black and white - simply print these out. I sometimes give out pages with four grids on, and let students choose which order they play the grids in - they have multiple pages - or sometimes, I get the students to cut out the grids, place them in a small bowl or similar on tables and they then randomly choose grids - depending on the size of your class, you will definitely have several winners per game! The grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game. I also use word-only grids to help students focus more on their reading skills, so I’ve included 40 Latin word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). The mixed word and picture grids are ideal for additional challenge and differentiated - there are 20 of these. There are six non-editable files in a zipped format. PRIMARY LATIN ANIMALS FLASHCARDS POSTERS

(0)
PRIMARY LATIN KS3 LATIN ANIMALS FLASHCARDS POSTERS These Latin animals flashcards / display posters create a fabulous Latin look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Latin as a real language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Latin. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Latin from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarise themselves with how Latin words ‘look’, and how they are represented in the written form. My younger Latin students really love the animals flashcards / posters, and when we look for cognates and near-cognates, they really like to compare the Latin and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are 20 masculine, feminine and neuter animals. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as ursus and lupus. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from their first language, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts in both languages, which I’ve found to be really useful for both current and later learning. The animals are: ***bear : bee : bird : butterfly : cat : dog : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : rabbit : spider : squirrel : turtle / tortoise : wolf *** There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters: one with a colour background, the second with an animal footprint background, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last for years! PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 FRUITS CLASSROOM DISPLAY POSTERS My younger students love to see Spanish displays in the classroom, and they also work really well for older beginner Spanish learners too. There are25 fruits, definite article, feminine and masculine, singular and plural - that’s so useful as a way into the concept of gender. I tend to vary my displays quite regularly, and have different posters up at various times of the school year. We use them as speaking and pronunciation prompts, and for guessing, vocab and spelling games too. We don’t actually learn 25 fruits at this stage, but I use a range that includes some that children may not know yet, such as starfruit and redcurrants. That’s ideal for discussing healthy eating, and for generally developing children’s vocabulary in their own language too. The posters work really well as flashcards too, and they’re great for introducing and practicing language with a ‘low-tech’ method, giving us all a break from the whiteboard, which children definitely enjoy! The fruits are: green apples red apple bananas cherries dates fig green grapes red grapes kiwi lemon mango nectarine olives oranges papaya peach pear pineapple pumpkin raspberry redcurrants rhubarb starfruit strawberries watermelon The posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or black wave. There are two non-editable files in a zipped format. They’re copyright, all rights reserved. Primary French FSL French Immersion These French Numbers 0-20 Halloween games cards are great for practising numbers in French with a focus on addition and subtraction - they also offer a really useful opportunity for multi-skill and cross-curricular learning. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. My younger learners really love to work with the cards, and we play as often as we can in the run-up to Halloween. There are lots of games they like to play, and I’ve described several of them in the resource file. I always do a quick warm-up and recap of numbers before we play any number games, and the simple forwards and backwards counting presentation is ideal for this. There are 72 calculations in total - 36 addition and 36 subtraction. The answer cards are marked with a plus or minus sign. This means that there are 144 cards in total - it’s quite a bit of prep, but do laminate them if you can, as they are far more user-friendly, and also last for many Halloweens! FRENCH CLOTHES FLASHCARDS POSTERS

PRIMARY FRENCH KS2 FRENCH KS3 FRENCH CLOTHES FLASHCARDS POSTERS instant introduction to 20 clothes items in French. The fashcards / posters also give the learning environment a fabulous*** French*** look and feel, promoting French as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of your learners. They also help learners familiarise themselves with both the ‘look’ of French words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The target language features singular and plural nouns with the indefinite / partitive article, some with colour and adjectival agreement, which is a great opportunity to begin to compare French to other languages learners may speak or know. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from, other languages, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts, and how adjectives may change according to gender and number. This is really useful for both current and later learning. It doesn’t matter if some of the items don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual clues or prompts. The 20 nouns are: cap * coat * dress * glasses * gloves * hat * jacket * jeans * jersey / jumper / pullover * scarf * schoolbag / rucksack * shirt * shoes * skirt * sneakers / trainers * socks * sunglasses * T-shirt * tie * trousers There are four poster headers: les vêtements, Qu’est-ce que tu portes ?, Qu’est-ce que tu as ? and Qu-est-ce que c’est ? The labels/answers correspond to the question format. This really does help to promote speaking in the classroom, and I often use the posters for quick speaking refreshers at various points in an individual lesson, or across a series of lessons, really getting the most out of the display. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. PRIMARY LATIN VEGETABLES BINGO

KS3 LATIN PRIMARY LATIN BINGO LATIN VEGETABLES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS & 40 CALLING CARDS Children absolutely love to play bingo - it’s perfect for language learning. These Latin vegetables bingo games are differentiated, with varying degrees of challenge, and a multi-skill focus. I’ve selected the following vegetables, and I always include a mix of masculine, feminine, neuter, singular and plural, as I’ve found this a great way of helping beginner Latin students develop their familiarity with basic grammatical concepts: the mushrooms the cauliflower thee carrots the lettuce the cucumber the tomato the cabbage the potatoes the garlic the broccoli the peas the onions In this set I’ve included 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Latin, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocab - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’! It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo master or mistress too, meaning they can play quite independently. I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocab consolidation and listening skills. There are 6 non-editable files in a zipped format. GERMAN NUMBERS 0-31 DISPLAY POSTERS FLASHCARDS These German numbers display posters / flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in German, also giving the learning environment fabulous German look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of German learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how German words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years.
