FRENCH ER VERBS IMPERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE FOCUSING ON 25 FRENCH -ER VERBS My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I've found it's really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. There are 150 conjugations across 3 differentiated conjugation challenges with a full answer key. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different ways: for practice during the introduction phase, for independent choice in class time, for home learning, for practice and revision during vacation and at return to class, and for cover lessons - they're really versatile, and ideal for advanced beginner to intermediate French students who want to practice and refresh their conjugation skills in French, and work on the imperfect tense a little more. The workbooks focus on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I've found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well.
The resource is structured as follows:
* Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French.
* Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.

Word searches are a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100 in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on reading, writing, spelling, numeracy and Spanish language skills in general.
Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their language skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and more complex questions, which feature mathematical language in Spanish.

GCSE FRENCH NEAR FUTURE TENSE -ER VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE, featuring 25 high-frequency French -ER verbs. I've used these kinds of quick conjugation workbooks for years with my students, and they find them really useful. They like to practise the conjugations regularly across the school year, and with the answer key, they're able to work and learn completely independently. Each workbook has an accompanying 6-page answer key book - this is absolutely essential in my opinion - answer keys help students develop more insight and independence in their learning, and of course, self and peer assessing does give them a further opportunity to engage with the conjugations - additionally, they really enjoy correcting each others' work!

The questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner Spanish students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Spanish.
All questions are in Spanish, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. There are visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on Spanish maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of maths is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning.
The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically, which is integral to successful language learning. My students also genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other.
The set comprises the following non-editable files:

Games with goals: these French fruits bingo games for young beginner French learners. This set features 12 fruits in masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms. The games are ideal for developing listening, speaking, reading, writing and spelling skills in French, as well as learning key beginner French vocabulary.
There are 180 bingo grids and 40 calling cards. All the grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game, and depending on the size of your class, there can be several winners per game. The grids with pictures are in both color and BW: color looks great, and I laminate these for class, using them with wipe-clean pens so that they can be recycled for years. The BW versions work really well for quick games - print and go!
There are 12 fruits featured - I’ve found this to be a reasonable and manageable number for young learners.

French verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of common French verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher.
There are 99 high-frequency French verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the French and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different.
There are three games, each with a different level of challenge:
Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, French to English
Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also French to English
Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to French, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall
There’s a full alphabetical French-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified.
To ensure successful learning, play regularly as you work with verbs and vocabulary - against a timer in teams works well to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence - students genuinely enjoy seeing if they can beat their own time record.
There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again.

A whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, ideal for practising, reinforcing and consolidating 99 high-frequency Italian verbs. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. Active learning is a really successful way of developing both language skills and general confidence.
The verbs are in the infinitive form, and the aim of the game is to create an Italian verb chain as quickly as possible. There are two games, each with a slightly different challenge:
Challenge 1: verbs are in alphabetical order, with the question and answer format: Io ho… Chi ha… ?
Challenge 2: verbs are in random order, with the question and answer format: Hai… Sì, ho…
In both challenges, the English translation of the verb appears immediately below the Italian verbs, which maximizes opportunity for really embedding vocab. The game works just as well if the cards are placed on a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my KS3 Italian learners, who are ready to move into KS4 Italian, but I’ve also played the game with my more advanced learners, who really enjoy ’going back to the start’ and having the opportunity to get up, walk about and talk - the games definitely provide some essential variety in learning activities.
I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. I always do some high-speed verb quiz oral warm-up and warm-down activities to really get the most out of the game, for example ***Come si dice APRIRE in inglese? or Vero o falso - TO OPEN è APRIRE in italiano?***.
There is an alphabetical Italian-English verb list, featuring all the verbs used in the game. This is useful as a longer-term reference resource too.
