PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-100 WORD SEARCHES

(0)
PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-100 Ten differentiated word searches with answer keys a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target numbers vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on comprehension and arithmetic skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and sentence questions, which feature mathematical language. Hyphens are really important in English numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! There is a single word search per page, portrait format. I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners—and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-100 LIST

NUMBERS 0-100 LIST I’ve found that these kinds of reference lists are a really successful learning support resource, and are really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. There are two backgrounds to choose from - colour pattern, which I often use for display, or black wave. The numbers are written across single page in landscape format. German separable verbs can be quite a challenging concept for English-speaking German learners, and focused practice really helps them consolidate their understanding of how to conjugate them accurately, particularly the location of the separable prefix at the end of the clause , and the various contexts in which the prefix is not separated, such as with subordinating conjunctions and modal verbs. The questions are all in German, and are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with: these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and word order in German. The set comprises the following non-editable files: = 48 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper - laminate if possible, the cards are more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years = answer key & answer recording sheet: we use class workbooks generally; the recording sheet is useful for more formal assessment purposes Have a browse in my store for more German resources, including special offer bundles and freebies. Sopas de letras are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in Spanish, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This freebie set features two differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. They focus on a range of countries where Spanish is an official language, with reference to a number of countries where a significant number of the population speak Spanish as their first or second language. The word searches really do help students develop their knowledge and awareness of the Spanish-speaking world, and just how widely Spanish is spoken around the globe. The word searches work well across the school year, not only when you’re focusing on Spanish-speaking countries. I use them as starters, refreshers, plenaries, fun-time fillers and for cover lessons quite regularly, as this helps embed students’ learning, and they genuinely enjoy putting their memory to the test! ITALIAN IRE VERBS PERFECT TENSE

GCSE ITALIAN -IRE VERBS PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE (passasto prossimo) great for practice and consolidation in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. There are 25 high-frequency regular and irregular -IRE verbs in the perfect tense (passato prossimo). The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage - students find that when they can immediately recall and produce the correct conjugation of a given verb, particularly out of context, they are really getting to grips with conjugation. The structure of the resource is as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and Italian-English Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugation questions, so 150 conjugation questions in total Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive form, from an English prompt. 6-page answer key, which is an integral element of the resource - it gives students an additional opportunity to engage with the language and grammar, and really helps them develop more independence in their learning. Notes and Next Steps template, which I encourage my students to visit regularly, reflecting not only on the verbs and conjugations they feel confident about, but also how they think their general skills in Italian might be developing through the activity - and equally importantly, what they can reasonably do to keep improving. FRENCH IDIOMS POSTERS FREEBIE #3

GCSE FRENCH IDIOMS French Speaking Practice Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Revenons à nos moutons ! - Let’s return to our sheep! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real French ambiance, promoting the everyday use of French. There are two backgrounds - the French flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection! Have a browse in my store for more French classroom displays, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! GERMAN VERBS I HAVE WHO HAS

(0)
KS3 GERMAN GCSE VERBS ACTIVITIES German Common Verbs Ich habe… Wer hat… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, ideal for practising, reinforcing and consolidating 99 high-frequency German verbs. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. Active learning is a really successful way of developing both language skills and general confidence. The verbs are in the infinitive form, and the aim of the game is to create a German verb chain as quickly as possible. There are two games, each with a slightly different challenge: Challenge 1: verbs are in alphabetical order, with the question and answer format: Ich habe… Wer hat… ? Challenge 2: verbs are in random order, with the question and answer format: Hast du… Ja/Nein, ich habe… In both challenges, the English translation of the verb appears immediately below the German verbs, which maximizes opportunity for really embedding vocab. The game works just as well if the cards are placed on a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my KS3 German learners, who are ready to move into KS4 German, but I’ve also played the game with my more advanced learners, who really enjoy ’going back to the start’ and having the opportunity to get up, walk about and talk - the games definitely provide some essential variety in learning activities. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. I always do some high-speed verb quiz oral warm-up and warm-down activities to really get the most out of the game, for example Wie sagt man SEIN auf Deutsch? or Richtig oder falsch - SEIN heißt TO BE auf Englisch? There is an alphabetical German-English verb list, featuring all the verbs used in the game. This is useful as a longer-term reference resource too. The resource is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. PRIMARY ENGLISH DAYS OF THE WEEK WORD SEARCHES ideal for KS1 English KS2 English activities and promoting independent learning. Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. The set features five differentiated word searches, focusing on high-frequency words : Days of the Week and offers a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new words and vocabulary (days of the week), but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. For additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There are also two question and answer key grid templates for learners to create their own searches for each other - this is a really popular activity, and I’ve found that my learners often like to create grids for family at home too. The templates enable learners to apply their language practically and creatively, which is really important at this stage of literacy development. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word searches are in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners - and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in,speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on German Numbers 0-100, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in German, but also to enjoy working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. There are visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode clues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on German maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The question card template enables students to*** apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically*** too - students really enjoy creating questions for each other Have a browse in my store for more German independent learning activities, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Das ist mir Wurst - That is sausage to me! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real German ambiance, promoting the everyday use of German. There are two backgrounds - the German flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection! Have a browse in my store for more German classroom display resources, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning materials, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH CHALLENGE CARDS 13 sets of challenge cards @ £3.00 each in the bundle. All files are non-editable in zipped formats. The bundle is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed, in whole or in part, outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-use license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Challenge cards are an ideal language learning activity, providing multi-skill language learning opportunities. These sets are ideal for a range of French language classrooms from KS2 French / Primary French to KS3 French, and at KS4 French, students preparing for GCSE French as practice and revision. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their French language skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and on the focus language, for example, conjugating French RE verbs in the present tense in particular. I use task not only when we’re focusing on the focus language and grammar, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity. The goal is not simply to learn how French works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions are differentiated, and range in complexity and challenge, with some calling specifically upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and question formats in French. The question card template available in some sets enables students to apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element to successful language learning. To get the most from the questions, I frequently look at the multiple-choice questions as a whole-group, identifying not only why there is a single correct response, but what the errors are in the other choices. Identifying errors, and explaining precisely why something is inaccurate or incorrect, helps students to think about language a little more laterally, and ensures that they are thinking concepts through, rather than simply relying on learned responses. All sets have full answer keys and recording sheets. 1: FRENCH NUMBERS 0-21 : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-numbers-0-21-challenge-cards-11843713 2: FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 : 48 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-numbers-0-31-challenge-cards-11759386 3: FRENCH CHRISTMAS NUMBERS 0-31 : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-christmas-numbers-0-31-challenge-cards-12035663 4: FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 : 48 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-numbers-0-100-challenge-cards-11741540 5: FRENCH DATES, DAYS, MONTHS, SEASONS : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-dates-days-months-seasons-challenge-cards-11856578 6: FRENCH FRUITS : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-fruits-challenge-cards-12586825 7: FRENCH VEGETABLES : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-vegetables-challenge-cards-12587115 8: FRENCH FRUITS & VEGETABLES : 36 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-fruits-and-vegetables-challenge-cards-12587126 9: FRENCH TELLING THE TIME O’CLOCK & HALF PAST THE HOUR : 60 CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-telling-time-challenge-cards-1-12833553 10: FRENCH TELLING THE TIME QUARTER TO & QUARTER PAST THE HOUR : 60 CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-telling-time-challenge-cards-2-12833561 11: FRENCH TELLING TIME RANGE OF ANALOGUE CLOCK TIMES : 60 CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-telling-time-challenge-cards-3-12833565 12: FRENCH ER VERBS PRESENT TENSE : 48 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-er-verbs-present-tense-challenge-cards-12641881 13: FRENCH RE VERBS PRESENT TENSE : 48 DIFFERENTIATED CHALLENGE CARDS https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-re-verbs-present-tense-challenge-cards-12646092 Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.
