PRIMARY LATIN AND YEAR 7 LATIN Latin animals bingo games: an ideal activity for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. It’s also really useful for a focus on the general ‘absence’ of article in Latin, as well as gender.
The pack includes 21 non-editable files:
ONE & TWO: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). You can give students a random selection of pages, with students selecting the order of grids they play from. You can also cut out the grids, and place them in a small bowl or similar object on tables. Students select grids randomly from the bowl. Depending on the size of your class, you should have several winners per game! You might prefer to laminate the grids, especially if you are printing in color - students can use wipe-clean pens, and you can recycle the grids many times. Color and B&W.
THREE: 40 LATIN word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages).
FOUR: 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages).
FIVE: 4 12-square grid template for students to create their own word or picture grids for each other.
SIX: 1 LATIN and 1 English calling card, with all the words written in full.
SEVEN TO TWENTY-ONE: 15 SILENT BINGO games, with detailed games instructions
The animals I’ve chosen include both masculine and feminine nouns, with some cognates. This maximizes opportunity to practice grammatical concepts and develop linguistic awareness too.

These activities really do help to create a lively language learning environment for young learners of French, and offer a popular alternative to more traditional, teacher-led***information about France*** lessons. Children can develop their knowledge of the francophone world - and through guided whole-group discussion - their home / host country too, in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, in part independently of the teacher. There is a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling, and is a great way of aligning language learning with developing literacy skills in English.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files:
20 facts cards - there are four facts in each of the following topic groups:arts & culture; country; famous people; history and language. There are blank templates for children to research and create their own facts cards for each other, and providing them with opportunity to apply learning and knowledge creatively. Over the school year, children should regularly add to their facts cards, which in time creates a fabulous bank of facts about France.
Facts recording sheet challenge level 1 - there are two options: either two or four fact recording boxes per page. Children read their selected facts, and copy the information in the boxes.
Facts recording sheet challenge level 2 - there are also two options: two or four fact recording boxes in this challenge level. However, there is a more open-ended task: responding to the question “What did you learn?”. This requires children to read their fact card, process the information, and then recreate it in their own words, describing the fact in the context of what they have learned.
24 question / comprehension cards — the questions have a differentiated range of challenge, and are based on the knowledge developed through the whole-group presentation and discussion, and the facts cards. There are some independent research questions, which I use as a springboard for further discussion based on children’s own developing interests about France. There are blank templates here too - creating questions is a great way to think about and apply knowledge and learning.

PRIMARY FRENCH ANIMALS BINGO 120 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS WITH SILENT BINGO CALLING - IDEAL FOR HIGH SCHOOL BEGINNER FRENCH TOO!
I created these differentiated Primary French animals bingo games, building in a range of challenges, to help my students engage happily with their French. They work just as well with older learners too! They really enjoy playing games, and these bingo games are perfect for developing listening, speaking, reading and writing/spelling skills. They’re also really useful for a focus on definite article and gender. The game isn’t actually about learning all the animals - 20 is too many in ‘one go’ - select your core vocab, with the additional animals useful for quick recall practice.
There are 20 animals:
the mouse
the horse
the dog
the cat
the crocodile
the bird
the fish
the frog
the pig
the cow
the tortoise/turtle
the tiger
the elephant
the giraffe
the lion
the rabbit
the monkey
the chicken
the spider
the zebra
There are 21 non-editable files: 40 picture-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages), in both colour and B&W. There are also 40 French word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). For additional challenge there are 40 English word-only bingo 12-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages) - this is a great way of consolidating vocab too. My students like to create their own word or picture grids for each other, so I’ve also included 4 12-square grid templates.
I developed SILENT BINGO to provide my students with an alternative way of practising their vocab and general language skills - select a grid type for students - picture-only, French word or English word. Using the SILENT BINGO files, show each slide at varying speeds. Students cross off the corresponding word or picture. There are 5 different games of each type: picture-only, French words, English words.

Perfect for developing French language skills in general, as well as for practising and revising numbers 0-21 in French. There are 36 differentiated questions, answer key, recording sheet and number reference sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. There’s also a question card template for students to apply language creatively and practically, which is an essential aspect of successful language learning, and is also a really popular activity with my students.
Challenge cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocabulary, but throughout the year for cover lessons, as entrance and exit tickets, refreshers and free-choice learning. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students.
All the questions are in French, including a range of French maths language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use***maths symbols as visual clues and prompts***, enabling students to infer meaning from context. This is a key language learning skill in general, which is important for students to develop as quickly as possible. Depending on the particular group, I may read through the questions together as a whole-group first.
The resource comprises the following non-editable files in a zipped format:
= 36 differentiated question cards 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible, as the cards are more learner-friendly and remain in excellent condition for years
= answer key & recording sheet
= question card template students apply their knowledge practically and creatively, which is an essential element in successful language learning
= number reference sheet

NEWLY-REVISED AND UPDATED RESOURCE COMING SOON! GERMAN TELLING TIME GAMES CARDS AND RECALL WORKSHEETS WORKBOOK - PERFECT FOR DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS AS WELL AS PRACTISING HOW TO TELL TIME IN GERMAN O'CLOCK AND HALF PAST THE HOUR - IDEAL FOR BEGINNER GERMAN!
Really helps to create a lively language learning environment. Students develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their understanding and knowledge of how to tell time in GERMAN in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The cards, card templates and accompanying Recall and Write challenges have a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. Encourage students to reflect on their progress, and note targets for improvement using the Notes & Next Steps template - it's a great learning habit for students to develop from an early age.
This set includes a range of games and activities featuring the clock times o’clock and half past the hour. Students can play alone, in pairs or in small-groups. There are lots of whole-group games to play too. The games and activities are particularly useful as a set of either homework or revision activities as students prepare for exams and progress to new stages in their GERMAN learning programme. I’ve used Wie spät ist es? as well as Wie viel Uhr ist es? so that students can see that both are used.
The accompanying Reference, Recall and Write workbook includes a GERMAN to English time phrase and clock face reference workbook, which students find useful as a learning support resource.

BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES & PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING POSTERS FLASHCARDS 62 posters / flashcards featuring 21 Spanish-speaking countries and 10 Portuguese-speaking countries with the countries, capital cities and flags, in Spanish.
I've found having the posters in my classroom provides an instant introduction to the scope of the Spanish-speaking world, and seeing the countries where Portuguese, rather than Spanish, is spoken, prevents them confusing the two from the very beginning of their learning - my students do often tend to get them a little mixed up!
The posters are great for reading, speaking and pronunciation prompts too. I often ask quick questions such as ¿Cuál es la capital de...?, ¿Sí o no? Madrid es la capital de Paraguay? or ¿Se habla español o portugués en Brasil? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill, particularly for beginner language learners, so getting the most from classroom decor to encourage students to speak is really important. This works particularly with my beginner Spanish classes, as it's a great way of encouraging them to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their Spanish program. I've often found that there can be several (or more!) countries that students don't actually know, or have never heard of, and the posters are really useful for helping them develop their general understanding and knowledge of the wider world.
There are two backgrounds to choose from: Spanish / Portuguese flag or plain. Laminate them if you can, as they hang really well, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years.

The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Italian. The questions range in complexity and challenge in terms of language and calculation, though they are designed for advanced beginner Italian language learners, who will generally be more advanced in their maths skills.
The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other. All the questions are in Italian, which really helps students develop language awareness skills, use their prior learning to progress current learning, and encouraging them to infer meaning from context.

IDEAL FOR DEVELOPING CONFIDENCE AND PRACTISING LANGUAGE SKILLS IN LATIN!
LATIN ANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of LATIN. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the general absence of determiners in LATIN too. It doesn’t matter if any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with LATIN and to begin to identify similarities with ENGLISH - encourage children to look for cognates and near-cognates such as DINOSAURUS and ELEPHANTUS for example. The games also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using linguistic as well as visual clues and prompts. For example, can they recognise CANINE from the LATIN word for dog? They may even know the adjective VULPINE - can they identify this from the noun for fox, VULPES? Along the way, children may even get to know some new animals and enhance their vocabulary in English too!
There are 80 CARDS in total, which include 2 DECKS of 40 CARDS to enable you to vary and differentiate your games:
DECK 1: matching LATIN & ENGLISH cards, with both the picture and the word. The ENGLISH cards have a different frame, with blackline pictures. To keep costs down, simply print all the cards using just black ink.
DECK 2: this pack features word-only cards in LATIN, with a matching set of picture-only cards. This is really useful for a focus on word recognition and recall.
I’ve included a word & picture reference sheet for children to read through before they play. The sheet can be shared between small groups of children, or distributed individually for children to file in their workbooks or learning folders for future reference.
The animals featured are:
- bee
- bird
- cat
- cow
- dinosaur
- dog
- donkey
- elephant
- fish
- fox
- frog
- giraffe
- goose
- horse
- lion
- mouse

These Primary Spanish animals display posters/flashcards create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of Spanish, both primary and secondary. They introduce learners to a range of animals in Spanish from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger Spanish students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the Spanish and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. They really give the classroom a great Spanish ambiance too. Students definitely notice the different words for a/an, and ask why some animals are un, and others are una. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. The posters work just as well as flashcards, which are great for introducing and practicing language in general (students don’t have to learn them all!), and for playing games to engage students with Spanish.
There are 20 animals using the masculine and feminine indefinite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare Spanish to English. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as orso and lobo.
The animals are:
a bear : a bee : a bird : a butterfly : a cat : a dog : a fish : : a fox : a frog : a horse :
a kangaroo : a monkey : a mouse : an ow : a parrot : a rabbit : a spider : a squirrel
a turtle / tortoise : a wolf
There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, with two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or animal footprint, so 40 posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in excellent condition for years.

I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, so the focus on the auxiliary sein with this workbook helps to embed this concept, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully.
The format is as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
= Quick Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
= Quick Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German.
= Quick Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
= Notes and Next Steps sheet - encourages students to reflect on learning and progress
= answer key

MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !
GCSE LATIN KS4 LATIN KS3 LATIN VERBS I give my language learners of all grades and learning phases a whole series of vocabulary reference lists, that build up into a really comprehensive reference bank over the course of their Latin language learning programme. They’re really popular with my students, as they know they can just go to their reference file or folder, and find what they need. They tell me that they feel far more confident about their Latin when they have a good grasp of core vocabulary. They’re great for quick vocabulary quizzes too - simply shout out either a Latin or an English verb, and students respond with the corresponding verb.
There are two alphabetical lists - one Latin-English, and one English-Latin, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - colour block (which I tend to use as part of a grammar display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocabulary lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocabulary to work through and learn, and can be a real motivator for learning. If my group is small, I provide students with a set of double-sided and laminated reference resources. My students all have a reference file or folder, again from the beginning of their learning, and part of helping them develop independence in, and responsibility for, their learning, is to give them opportunity to keep their learning resources in good order, and easily accessible.
This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Latin verbs that I work with in the beginning to intermediate stages of Latin learning programmes. They include regular and irregular verbs, with some modal verbs. The verbs are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize high-frequency Latin verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. We also use our reference lists to help students audit their developing ***Latin ***verb vocabulary.

This kind of classroom decor provides a real learning opportunity in geography class, and this set is also a great visual prompt when you are discussing world geography in general, and Africa in particular. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters help students develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of Africa and its geography. It's useful to show students a clear map of Africa, so that students can visualise the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location with Africa, but also as a location in relation to other African countries and capital cities.
There are two formats to choose from - Africa map background or plain without frame. I laminate my classroom learning decor, even though it's extra prep time and expense. The posters display better, as flashcards they're a lot easier to manipulate, and they do remain in excellent condition for years, so you'll be able to recycle them many times.
The posters work just as well in the world languages classroom as well as the geography classroom, aligning learning between language and knowledge of the world.

25 high-frequency French ER verbs in the perfect tense (passé composé). There are 6 worksheets, with three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations, in two design formats:
= Workbook Format: 10-page workbook, with cover page, verbs lists, six worksheets and Notes, Next Steps and New Verbs page, where students note any points they’d like to work more on, map their progress and list any new French ER verbs they learn, which helps them develop a really useful French verb bank.
= Worksheet Format: worksheets can be printed out individually, or as a pack without the cover page, verbs lists and progress template, useful for quick revision, refresher, starters / finishers, and also generally saves on prep costs
The answer key is a separate file with six pages, and I generally print this out as a pack for classwork, with groups of students sharing an individual pack.
The worksheets also address a broad range of vocabulary and grammar points, such as direct / indirect object pronouns, negative sentences and various question formats. There are also several questions featuring the preceding direct object, though the focus is on conjugation, rather than the more complex points of this tense. Students may not have engaged with all the language used at this stage, and this makes the activity equally about engaging with new language, as well as practicing and reinforcing the current language focus.
There are three differentiated conjugation challenges:
= Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in sentence format across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding translation. Translating accurately is an important skill for language learners to engage with and master, and this kind of focused practice is really useful for them. = Conjugation Challenge 2: straightforward conjugation drill: each question gives a French infinitive and a target pronoun. Students write the corresponding French verb conjugation.
= Conjugation Challenge 3: mirrors Challenge 1, with an increased challenge. Students write the French translation from a basic English sentence, to ensure that they are able to produce as well as recognise both the correct conjugation and an accurate translation.

The questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The translation questions are a great way of introducing beginner French learners to the concept of translation too.
All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. There are visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. Some questions focus specifically on French maths language, which students do not always engage with very often.
The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other.
This set comprises the following non-editable files:
