GERMAN EUROPE COUNTRIES & CAPITALS 2 MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUIZZES

GERMAN EUROPE COUNTRIES AND CAPITAL CITIES GERMAN CROSS-CURRICULAR LEARNING EUROPE TWO MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUIZZES IDEAL FOR THE EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES TOO Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The produce is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. Ideal for cross-curricular learning in German class: students can develop their knowledge of the geography of Europe in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. At the same time, students are developing their German language skills: speaking, listening and reading in particular, as well as broadening their German vocabulary. We play both as a whole-group team quiz, and in pairs or small groups on a regular basis - students are particularly keen to see if they can beat their own points record, and are really motivated by their developing knowledge. The set contains all European countries and capital cities, including some island communities such as the Faroe Islands and Guernsey. Each question has 4 answers to choose from. The correct answer is given in capital letters. The quiz cards are numbered, but questions can be asked in random order too: simply place all the cards in a bowl, box or tin, and work your way through. There are two quiz challenges: Challenge 1 gives the country as a prompt, with four possible capital cities to choose from. Challenge 2 gives the capital city as a prompt, with four possible countries to choose from. This challenge uses the definite article in the responses to help consolidate students’ knowledge of the gender of individual countries and the use of the dative following the preposition von. The card numbers for Challenge 1 are in the top right-hand corner; Challenge 2 in the top left-hand corner so that the cards can be organised and sorted easily. Laminate the cards if possible: they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. Before playing, it’s useful to show students a map of Europe, so that they can visualize the location of each country and capital city, not only as an individual location with Europe, but also as a location in relation to other European countries and capital cities. This definitely helps students understand and memorise the countries and capital cities. FRENCH EUROPE COUNTRIES, CAPITALS, FLAGS POSTERS

KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH KS5 FRENCH EUROPE COUNTRIES, CAPITAL CITIES, FLAGS POSTERS FLASHCARDS IN FRENCH ideal for French students of all ages, creating an instant introduction to Europe in French, and promoting cross-curricular learning in French class. The resource is non-editable in zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, shared, rewritten or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the posters really help students develop their general knowledge and understanding of European geography. I’ve included a range of islands, such as the Faroe Islands, and I’ve also shown some countries, for example Armenia, that are often classed as belonging either to Europe or to Asia. There are also two posters for some countries, such as France, officially known as République Française - you can choose either that, or the more frequently-used la France to display. The posters look great displayed horizontally across a particular learning area - alphabetically works well, though non-alphabetically is perfect for a country quest activity. They’re ideal for the annual Europe Day celebration, and The European Day of Languages, as well as an all year round learning display. I often ask ‘quick questions’ such as ***Quelle est la capitale de… ?***, or Oui ou non ? Madrid est la capitale de Portugal ? - there are lots of questioning and speaking opportunities, using the posters as visual prompts. Speaking does tend to be quite a challenging skill in French class, so getting the most from classroom display to encourage students to speak is really important, as they’re a great tool for encouraging students to speak, and to construct sentences, from the very beginning of their French learning. There are two backgrounds to choose from - European map or plain. Laminate if possible, as they will display really well, and remain in excellent condition for years. Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including French cross-curricular resources, special offer bundles, and freebies. MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON VOYAGE !
FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS BUNDLE #4

FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS BUNDLE #4

8 Resources
PRIMARY FRENCH VOCABULARY KS3 FRENCH VOCABULARY BEGINNER FRENCH VOCABULARY CARDS FIVE SETS @ £2.95 EACH IN THE BUNDLE 990 matching French and English games cards with two Reference, Recall & Write Workbooks, focusing on 495 beginner French words and phrases. Files are non-editable n a zipped format. Please read the Terms of Use - the resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. The vocabulary groups are as follows: =Les salutations =Les jours de la semaine =Les mois et les saisons de l’année =Les nombres 0-100 =Ma famille =Les animaux =Les matières scolaires =Les fruits et légumes =Les couleurs =Les parties du corps =Le temps =Les pays =Quelle heure est-il? (o’clock/half past) =Les adjectifs =La nourriture et les boissons =Verbes français =En ville =Mots fréquents =Le français pour la salle de classe =Bavardons ensemble ! Conversation =Questions et réponses My students really like to work independently, in pairs and in small groups, and these vocabulary cards enable them to do that. There are lots of games and activities to play, and I’ve described several that are successful with my groups. I’ve found that giving students regular and frequent opportunities to play with the cards, not only when we’re focusing on these particular vocab groups, but across the school year, and even when they’re far more advanced in their learning - all learners benefit from going back to the start! There’s definitely some prep involved - printing, laminating and cutting out - laminating is certainly worth the effort, as the cards are a lot more learner-friendly, and do last for years. Students don’t have to play with full sets - they can work with selected vocab groups. There is an 18-page workbook for each set, which gives students a different way of consolidating their vocabulary - writing it out really helps to embed language, and is great for spelling too. There are 3 differentiated recall and write challenges, as well as a full alphabetical French-English vocabulary list, which works well as a longer-term reference resource too. My students learn a lot from applying their French practically with the game card templates - they enjoy creating cards for each other. I use the workbook for homework, holiday work, practice and revision or cover lessons - they’re really versatile. Written Recall Challenge One: students write the English word / phrase from a French prompt, with all the words and phrases grouped together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Two: with this challenge, students write the words / phrases in French from an English prompt, and again, they’re all group together in the same category Written Recall Challenge Three: this final challenge ‘switches’ at each question from French to English, and lists words and phrases randomly from each category - I’ve found that this really does encourage my students to think hard about their French vocab. Have a browse in my store for more French independent learning activities, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning resources, with French resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies - I’ve included a couple here for you to try. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed in any way outside your own classroom. Please read the Terms of Use. The list s free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. I encourage my beginner German students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it. I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. I’ve put the numbers across two pages, because the size of the font is really important for all learners, but especially for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with***words and spelling systems*** in a new language. I have also uploaded a number reference sheet I give my more experienced German learners - it’s in landscape format, with all the numbers on a single sheet, so the font size is smaller - students who’ve been learning German for a while are comfortable with quite a lot of text on a single page. Have a look at it here: GERMAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #2 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-100-list-freebie-2-12423554 There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I generally use for German vocabulary display, or plain. SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE WHO HAS FREEBIE

(3)
PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH NUMBERS 0-31 Tengo ¿Quién tiene? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in Spanish. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a Spanish number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card cero, and ending with the final card, treinta y uno. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration, reading out loud and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best Spanish accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! We like to do number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too. Ideal for cross-curricular learning French and geography featuring 41 countries / territories where French is an official language as well as regions and territories where a significant number of the population speak French as either their first or second language, such as Vietnam. Each word wall card shows the country and capital city in French, and its national flag. There may be a number of countries and capital cities that students do not know, or are not aware of, so the word wall definitely helps them fully develop their general awareness, knowledge and understanding of the French-speaking world. This means we can really make the most of the learning potential of classroom decor. I’ve used the definite article, as I’ve found that this helps embed the concept of gender in French, and that proper nouns, such as countries, are subject to gender agreement rules too. I use the word wall to get students talking in French class too during Talk Time for example - quick questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Québec est la capitale du Canada ? or Libreville est la capitale de quel pays ? are really useful to encouraging students to speak in French. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format, with two design formats to choose from - French flag or plain. We use them not only when we’re introducing and practising days, months and seasons, but also for developing French language skills and awareness in general. We talk a lot about the similarities and differences in the different languages, such as the use of capital letters, and we look very closely for cognates too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read - we do lots of guessing, spelling and vocab games for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag or black wave. I definitely recommend that you print on card stock and/or laminate for longevity - you’ll be able to enjoy your PRIMARY FRENCH DAYS MONTHS AND SEASONS WORD WALL for years to come! Try this French Numbers 0-21 word wall to see if the design suits your classroom - it’s the same design https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/primary-french-numbers-0-21-word-wall-12098682 There are two non-editable files in a zipped format - they’re copyright, all rights reserved - they can’t be shared, copied or rewritten - I’ve explained everything in my Terms of Use. These French Christmas Numbers 0-31 challenge cards are perfect for French Christmas lessons, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. I’ve found that lessons around the Christmas period are a great time for revisiting and practising language and structures we’ve looked at over the semester. The questions are entirely in***French***, and students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their developing knowledge of French in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in French in general, and certainly in French numbers and French Christmas vocabulary in particular. The questions range in complexity and challenge, not only in terms of calculation, but also in terms of the level of French - they are definitely aimed at advanced beginner French learners, rather than new or recent beginners. Most learners will be able to infer meaning from context / images, which have a real French Christmas theme, such as la bûche de Noël and Père Fouettard, with vocabulary and structures repeated throughout, giving learners a chance to familiarize themselves really well with them. Nonetheless, it can be useful to read through the questions with the whole class first to check everyone is able to access the language, and therefore the activity, successfully. Students really do benefit in terms of language learning if they have several opportunities to work with the cards, rather than simply working with them in a single lesson. The resource comprises the following: = 36 differentiated question cards = answer key & answer recording sheet = question cards template Have a browse in my store for more French resources, including special offer bundles and freebies.
