KS3 GERMAN ADJECTIVES KS4 GERMAN ADJECTIVES GCSE GERMAN ADJECTIVES LIST Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license is a single-user license only. The product is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. A great instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency German adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a first collection of 25 high-frequency German adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner German into intermediate German learning programs - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful German adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize German adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival endings and agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing German vocabulary in general. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on adjectives in German for your students, the list is a good starting point. There are two alphabetical lists - one German-English, and one English-German, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I generally use for German grammar display, and plain. Have a browse in my store for more German vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other German teaching and learning resources, with German resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. FRENCH IDIOMS POSTERS FREEBIE #2

GCSE FRENCH IDIOMS French Speaking Practice Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages. The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom Occupe-toi de tes oignons ! - Deal with your own onions! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real French ambiance, promoting the everyday use of French. There are two backgrounds - the French flag looks great, but definitely uses a lot of ink, so you may prefer the poster without a background - this looks just as good! Keep checking back for more posters if you like them, as I have a huge collection! Have a browse in my store for more French classroom displays, and a wide range of other French teaching and learning activities, with special offer bundles, resource boxes, and lots of freebies too! ITALIAN VERBS LIST FREEBIE #1

(3)
GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN HIGH-FREQUENCY ITALIAN VERBS LIST FREEBIE 25 high-frequency Italian verbs, listed alphabetically Italian-English and English-Italian ideal as a year-round reference resource, and students find it particularly useful for exam revision, whether working in class time or at home. It’s useful for advanced beginner Italian students to provide a language learning map, and for intermediate Italian students who are working with more complex language and texts, including authentic resources, and as a vocabulary audit and enrichment. The verbs are all in the infinitive form and include regular and irregular high-frequency Italian verbs. I’ve noted where a verb is conjugated with essere, which is a really handy quick guide to the particular features of the verb, and useful for later learning when we look at conjugation, such as the passato prossimo for example. It’s important in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful Italian verb vocabulary bank, are able to recognize high-frequency Italian verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in their first or home language. At that point students can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context, enabling them to produce more detailed and descriptive language. This is an integral element to successful language learning. I’ve found that vocabulary lists are a great language learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference, either in class or at home. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on high-frequency Italian verbs for your students, the list is a good starting point. The adverbs address a range of categories, for example, temporal / time adverbs, place / location adverbs, frequency adverbs. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Italian adverbs that students will meet in the advanced beginner Italian to intermediate Italian stages of Italian learning programmes, and useful for students beginning advanced Italian as a vocabulary audit. It’s an important step in language learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful Italian vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Italian adverbs, and are confident with the meaning of those words in their first / home language, so that they can produce more detailed and descriptive language and more complex sentences and texts as soon and as accurately as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning the adverbs all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Italian vocabulary, and it is definitely the case that frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on high-frequency Italian adverbs for your students, the list is a good starting point. ITALIAN REFLEXIVE VERBS LIST FREEBIE #1

(3)
GCSE ITALIAN KS4 ITALIAN KS3 ITALIAN REFLEXIVE VERBS LIST I give my language learners of all grades and learning phases a whole series of reference lists, that build up into a really comprehensive Italian vocabulary reference bank over the course of their language learning programme. They’re really popular with my students, as they know they can just go to their reference file or folder, and find what they need. They tell me that they feel far more confident about their Italian when they have a good grasp of core high-frequency Italian vocabulary. They’re great for quick Italian vocabulary quizzes too. There are of 25 high-frequency Italian reflexive verbs in the infinitive form, alphabetically both Italian-English and English-Italian - my students get these pretty much at the beginning of their program, even before we start to work on conjugation. If my group is small, and depending on the particular work we’re doing, I provide students with a set of double-sided and laminated reference resources. My language students all have a reference file or folder, again from the beginning of their learning, and part of helping them develop independence in, and responsibility for, their learning, is to give them opportunity to keep their learning resources in good order, and easily accessible. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Italian flag, which I tend to use for vocabulary display, and black wave. I use a background for vocab lists, as feedback from learners over the years suggests that a visual can be helpful when learning what can be a large amount of new Italian vocabulary. This French-speaking countries word searches freebie comprises two differentiated word searches with answer keys, featuring a range of countries where French is an official language. I have a set of 10 differentiated word searches with country, capital city and flag reference list in my store too - the full set description is as follows: Mots cachés are a fabulous way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in French, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches with answer keys, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 40 countries / territories where French is an official language. The word searches help students***develop their knowledge and awareness of the Francophone world***, and just how widely it is spoken around the globe. I’ve used the definite article for the countries, so that students can see which countries are masculine, and which feminine, which in turn helps consolidate knowledge of gender in French. In Grids 1-4, students search for a particular country. In Grids 5 & 6, they search for a range of capital cities. Grid 7 gives 16 capital cities as prompts, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid. Similarly, in Grid 8, there are 16 countries given, and students search for the corresponding capital cities in the grid. Grids 9 & 10 show a selection of national flags, and students search for the corresponding countries in the grid, and also write the country name in the prompt box next to the individual flag. There is a single grid per page, A4 (8.5 x 11) portrait format. Students can tell in which direction the words are written by looking at the arrow key on each grid. Each grid has a corresponding answer key, so that students can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. I’ve included a complete reference sheet of all 40 countries, capital cities and flags - you can either laminate this to share around small groups of students, or give one to each student to stick into their learning workbooks as a general longer-term reference resource. I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Spanish, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Spanish vocabulary books, or file them in their Spanish vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful Spanish vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner Spanish learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Spanish prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I use for Spanish vocabulary display, or plain. **Try this super simple worksheets freebie, focusing on how to tell the time in Spanish o’clock: HOW TO TELL THE TIME IN SPANISH : O’CLOCK WORKSHEETS FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-telling-the-time-o-clock-worksheets-freebie-12864294 Have a browse in my store for more Spanish visual vocabulary lists, and a wide range of other Spanish teaching and learning materials, with Spanish resource boxes, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies. ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!

I encourage my beginner German students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organising their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning files or folders. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string). I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarise themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language. GERMAN SEPARABLE VERBS PRESENT TENSE CHALLENGE CARDS FREEBIE

KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN GCSE GERMAN SEPARABLE VERBS PRESENT TENSE 12 CHALLENGE CARDS FREEBIE focusing on conjugating German separable verbs in the present tense. They are perfect for upper KS3 German students, who are working regularly with compound sentences and more complex texts, KS4 German students preparing for German GCSE, and KS5 German students, who are refreshing prior knowledge. German separable verbs can be quite a challenging concept for English-speaking German learners, and I’ve found that focused practice really helps them consolidate their understanding of how to conjugate them accurately, particularly the location of the separable prefix at the end of the clause. This kind of activity really does help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their conjugation skills in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarise themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in German in general, and certainly in conjugating German separable verbs in the present tense in particular. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on conjugation, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how conjugation works, and how patterns can be identified and applied, it’s also about enjoying working with German, and to feel confident about doing so. I like to have different set of task cards ready in folders for free-choice time, where students can choose a particular target focus that they feel they need to work a little more on, and certainly verb conjugation is a really popular choice. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency German adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner German into intermediate German learning programs - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful German adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize German adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival endings and agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of French numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping beginner French students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in French. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on French Numbers 0-31, but also for sub lessons, as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in French, but also to enjoy working with French, and to feel confident about doing so. All questions are in French, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills. I’ve used visual prompts such as maths symbols to ensure all learners can engage with the questions, and this helps them to begin to infer meaning from context, and to decode cues and prompts to foster understanding. I don’t allow the use of calculators to increase the challenge a little. Some questions focus specifically on French maths language, which students do not always engage with very often. The level of maths is fairly simple, but certainly draws on prior number and arithmetic learning. I’ve labelled the cards A-L, so that if you have the set of 48 task cards, you can use them together. PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 WORD SEARCH FREEBIE

(3)
PRIMARY MATHS NUMBERS 0-10 Word searches a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practising and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This is a free word search, focusing on Numbers 0-10. The search offers a really useful learning opportunity - consolidating not only new numbers, but also working on reading, writing, spelling and literacy skills in general - children often focus on the arithmetic skills involved with numbers, but it’s just as important to work on consolidating the written words too. It’s ideal for both independent learning, as a fun-time filler as well as a targeted practice of the written numbers themselves. Word searches are easily differentiated, with opportunity to increase challenge gradually, and learners have to look very carefully at letters, and how words are constructed to complete the grid. They are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. Here, for additional consolidation, they also rewrite each number in the word column. There is an answer grid for the word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it! For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! The word search is in landscape format, mirroring the common direction of reading and writing in English from left to right, facilitating learner engagement with the activity. The landscape format is also really useful for learners whose first language is written from right to left. There is a single grid per 8.5 x 11 (A4) sheet - I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners, and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. Please note this is the math center version of my ESL / EFL Numbers 0-10 Word Search freebie. The file is non-editable in a zipped format. It is copyright, all rights reserved - it may not be shared, distributed outside your own classroom, copied or rewritten in any way - please read the Terms of Use. THANKS AND ENJOY THE WORD SEARCH!
