These German animals display posters / flashcards create a fabulous German look and feel in the learning environment. I’ve found that this also helps promote German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of beginner learners of German. They introduce learners to a range of animals in German from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with how German words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. My younger German students really love the animals posters, and like to compare the German and English words. I’ve found that they also help very young children develop their growing understanding of the animal kingdom. We don’t necessarily learn all the animals, but we do use them for pronunciation and speaking practice, and for memory games too. Students definitely notice the different words for the, and ask why some animals are der, and others are die or das. I’ve used this as a useful prompt to introduce the concept of gender. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. There are 20 animals using the masculine, feminine and neuter definite article, which again is a great opportunity to begin to compare German to English, looking closely at capitalization of nouns. I’ve chosen a couple of insects and birds, as well as animals that feature in very popular stories, such as Bär and Wolf. The animals are: bear; bee; bird; butterfly; cat; dog; fish; fox; frog;horse; kangaroo; monkey; mouse; owl; parrot; rabbit; spider; squirrel; turtle/tortoise; wolf There are two sets of 20 9.5x11 (A4) portrait posters, two backgrounds to choose from: animal footprint or German flag. The questions range in complexity and challenge, ensuring a scaffolded learning experience for students. All the questions are in French, including a range of French math language. Students may not necessarily engage with that at this stage of their learning, so I use math symbols as visual clues and prompts, enabling students to infer meaning from context. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. 25 high-frequency German verbs in the imperfect tense. The quick conjugations have always been really popular with my students, who find them a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts too, such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I give my students regular opportunities to work through the same conjugations until they feel confident about how German conjugation ‘works’, and are able to recognize patterns and so predict conjugation accurately. The workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German. Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. We also use it to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too. The workbook is really versatile, and ideal for advanced intermediate French and advanced French A students who are working with more complex language and texts, including authentic texts, which feature a broad range of tenses. It focuses on the mechanics of conjugation, rather than usage, and I’ve found that when my students are able to provide the correct conjugation very quickly, and out of a specific context, they feel really confident that their conjugation skills are developing well. I use these kinds of workbooks in lots of different contexts - homework, holiday refresher and revision work, sub lessons and so on. French reflexive verbs can be quite tricky, particularly for students whose first language does not have a similar reflexive verb group. Though the workbooks focus solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognise and apply, ensuring that their***spoken and written French*** is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the***skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing*** is robust. Ten differentiated word searches, focusing on 25 fruits in Spanish, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The fruits include masculine, feminine, singular and plural, with a blend of definite and indefinite articles - this really helps students think a little more laterally about language, and their new vocab - they may learn la manzana, and it’s useful to give students opportunity to think about grammatical concepts, and how la becomes una for example. There are high-frequency fruits, such as apple or pear, and also fruits which may be new to some learners, such as redcurrant or starfruit. There are a range of phonemes and sounds too, such as the letter j (uvas rojas), which is a sound particular to Spanish, and the letter ñ (piña), as the tilde + n plays a very important role in Spanish pronunciation. There are 5 Spanish to Spanish grids, labelled with a lemon, where learners are prompted with the Spanish words, and look for them in Spanish in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Spanish grids, labelled with a raspberry, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Spanish equivalent in the grid. For additional consolidation and practice in writing/spelling in Spanish, they also complete the Spanish word list on each page. The fruits included are: green apples : red apple : bananas : cherries : dates : fig : green grapes red grapes : kiwi : lemon : mango : nectarine : olives : oranges : papaya peach : pear : pineapple : pumpkin : raspberry : redcurrants : rhubarb : starfruit : strawberries : watermelon Try this Spanish fruits word search freebie - you’ll be able to see whether the word searches will work well with your learners: SPANISH FRUITS WORD SEARCH WITH ANSWER KEY : FREEBIE https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/spanish-fruits-word-search-freebie-12486094 ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN PROVECHO!

It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting / banners not only to create a real German look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting works well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall. Have a look at this German Greetings Guten Tag banners bunting freebie - the design is exactly the same as this set, so you’ll be able to see if it would suit your classroom: GERMAN GREETINGS BUNTING BANNERS FREEBIE : GUTEN TAG https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12561698 VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß IN DER DEUTSCHSTUNDE!

These German numbers 0-31 display posters /flashcards create an instant introduction to Numbers 0-31 in German, also giving the learning environment fabulous German look and feel. I’ve found that having new and high-frequency language displays also helps promote German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of German learners. The posters help students familiarize themselves with how German words ‘look’, and how sounds are represented in the written form. The font is big enough for students to read in various locations in the classroom - I find this really important so that we can get the most out of any particular display - for example we use them for pronunication practice, spelling and mental calculation games at certain points in the lesson. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. Laminate or print on card stock - I always do this with my displays - they hang a lot better, and I recycle them for many years. There are 18 breakfast items in this word wall - we may not actually have all the items in our learning plan, but we use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. I’ve used the definite article, a range of masculine, feminine and neuter, singular and plural. We look at cognates and near cognates, and discuss breakfast, and what we like to eat, or we’d like to try - it’s important to use word walls as a real learning resource, not just to use them as a visual display - for example, I use them for vocab guessing games or quizzes, and spelling games. I rotate word walls regularly, ‘going back’ to language we met at earlier points in the school year. The breakfast items are: = bacon = yoghurt = cup of coffee = cereal = jam = pancakes = croissant = waffles = porridge = orange juice = milk = boiled egg & boiled eggs (useful for looking at singular/plural differences) = fried egg = toast = bread rolls = syrup = tea There are two headers: Guten Appetit! and Das Frühstück- creating their own headers, or adding to the items is a great language learning activity too. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various locations in the classroom. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. I always print my word walls on robust card stock and/or laminate, because they hang really well, and last for absolutely years!
