I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of Italian, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their Italian vocabulary books, or file them in their Italian vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful***Italian vocabulary reference bank*** for both class and home learning. For young and / or beginner***Italian*** learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows half past the hour on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to Italian prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with a particular time set, I then move on to additional time sets. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list that they have to complete, really putting their knowledge to the test! There are also 5 English to Italian grids, where the prompt words are given in English, and learners have to find the Italian equivalent in the grid. FSL FLE FRENCH FOR CHILDREN PRIMARY FRENCH IMMERSION FRENCH NUMBERS 0-31 I HAVE, WHO HAS? Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your classroom in any way. It is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply - please read them carefully. French Numbers 0-31 J’ai… Qui a… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in French. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too. The aim of the game is to create a French number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card zéro , and ending with the final card, trente et un. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning. Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best French accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play! I encourage my beginner French students to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced French learners, who’ve been learning French for a while - all the numbers are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible. Have a look at this version that I give my absolute French beginners - the numbers are across two pages in portrait format: FRENCH NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #1 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/french-numbers-0-100-list-freebie-1-12150350 My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string). Please read the Terms of Use carefully. An instant introduction to a range of colors in French in the classroom, introducing learners to colors in French from the very beginning of their learning, and helping them familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of French words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from, other languages, helps learners become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts, and how adjectives may change according to gender and number. This is really useful for both current and later learning. I often use the flashcards / posters for quick speaking refreshers at various points in an individual lesson, or across a series of lessons, really getting the most out of the display. The key colors are: black; blue; brown (both brun and marron); cream (both crème and vanilla); green; grey; navy blue; orange; bright pink; pink; purple; red; turquoise; white; yellow. There’s also a poster / flashcards showing the French Flag. There are two backgrounds to choose from: French Flag (Tricolore) and plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum. Print on card stock and / or laminate if you can, as they are easier to manipulate as flashcards, display much more effectively as decor, and remain in excellent condition for years. It doesn’t matter if some of the colors don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. These***adjectival agreement*** flashcards / posters, with a focus on the colour vert, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the French classroom - I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between le monstre vert and la voiture verte in the singular, and les montres verts and les voitures vertes in the plural. I use questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Le monstre verte ? , really emphasizing, even exaggerating pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard, as it’s equally important that they are able to recognize the differences in the written words too, and to link sound with spelling - all of this means I really make the most from my classroom learning decor. These four my favorite color posters make an ideal speaking prompt in the Primary French Immersion classroom - I encourage students to ask each other Quelle est ta couleur préférée ? as a lesson starter / warm-up, and to select a different color every time they answer. As they learn more colors, their answers become more varied. I tend to introduce the plural form with the connective et (and) quite quickly, so that students can extend their answers as much as they possibly can - they have great fun seeing who knows the most colors, and can create the longest answers. ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS

ESL EFL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 English Numbers 0-31 Task Cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of English and English numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in,* speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in English*. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Numbers 0-31, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn numbers in English, but also to develop English Language skills in general, to enjoy working with English, and to feel confident about doing so. There’s definitely a UK theme running through many of the questions, featuring questions about fish and chips and the Loch Ness Monster for example. The questions range in complexity and challenge, and are great for honing numeracy skills too - especially if calculators are not allowed! The questions are all in English, which in itself is a really useful comprehension activity. Depending on your students, reading the questions together first to check for understanding is a good idea. There’s a question card template too - students genuinely enjoy creating questions for each other, and it allows them to apply language practically and creatively. The answer key provides learners with an additional opportunity to engage with language, and also helps them develop more independence in their learning. They genuinely enjoy correcting their own and each others’ work - and it’s a great teacher-time saver too! The resource comprises the following: = Set of 36 cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. ESL EFL ELL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 REFERENCE LIST

ESL EFL ELL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 I like to give my beginner language learners a series of reference resources - they’re really popular with students, particularly for refreshing and revising vocab. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. I designed this specifically for my young and/or beginner learners of English, it’s suitable for a range of ages and learning stages. Numbers definitely provide lots of opportunities for cross-curricular learning in class time, particularly with mental math games, which really helps beginner English learners get to grips with the vocab. There are two backgrounds to choose from - UK flag, which I tend to use for classroom display, and black wave - the background makes the list a little more visually appealing, which can be really important in terms of motivation for language learners, who have a lot of vocab to learn. It’s easy to create an instant introduction to numbers 0-21 in English with this set of word wall cards, featuring beginning numbers that I like to share with my young and beginner learners of English. They’re really useful during the introduction phase, and we also use them for developing language skills and awareness in general. We like to do spelling, number guessing and calculation games at regular intervals too for example - the font is definitely big enough for students to see from various locations in the classroom. There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format. There are two backgrounds to choose from - UK flag, which I often use for my ESL/EFL learners, or black wave. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of English and English numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in English. The resource comprises the following: = 48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper.
