LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 WORD SEARCHES

LATIN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER LATIN NUMBERS 1-10 10 differentiated word searches with answer keys focusing on Latin Numbers 1-10 ideal for beginner Latin learners of all ages - I’ve found that word searches are the ideal activity for young and beginner students of Latin to engage with the written word in Latin, at the same time developing essential beginner Latin vocabulary. They are easily differentiated - and the grids have an increasing level of challenge, to ensure that all students can feel confident about their learning - and lots of chances to keep challenging themselves. I’ve indicated the direction the words are located in the grid with arrows. The word searches are really versatile, and I use them in lots of different learning contexts, such as starter and refresher activities, fun-time fillers, sub lessons, or free-choice activity at any time during the school year. There are five Latin-Latin grids - the prompt words are in Latin, and the grid words are also in Latin. Each grid is progressively more challenging. There are also five English-Latin grids - the prompt word is in English, and students have to find the Latin equivalent in the grid. On each grid there’s a number list they have to complete too for extra practice. Each grid is on 8.5 x 11 (A4) landscape format - this format has always worked best for my beginner Latin learners. Have a browse in my store for more Latin word searches, and a wide range of other Latin teaching and learning materials, with dollar deals, special offer bundles, and lots of freebies too! USA STATES & CAPITALS QUIZ

GEOGRAPHY USA STATES & CAPITALS ALL THE US STATES AND THEIR CAPITALS two quizzes with 100 multiple-choice questions There are two multiple choice quizzes, each with 50 questions, so 100 questions in total. The structure of the question in Quiz 1 is: The capital of Alabama is… and there are three possible options given - the correct answer is in capital letters. The structure of the question in Quiz 2 is: Montgomery is the capital of… again with three possible answer options, with the correct answer in capital letters. I laminate the cards, because they do last for years, and are far easier to handle. I put the question cards in a box or tin, and select cards randomly - sometimes I have a single quiz in the box, and sometimes I have both quizzes. We do play them quite often, as students really enjoy the competitive element, and it does help recall. The quizzes also work well when students ask the questions. Teams continue to get questions as long as they give the correct answer — you can have as many teams as suits your class - we also play in pairs too, especially if we’re playing a number of different quizzes at the same time. I’ve added 8 general knowledge questions too, so that there are six full questions on the final sheet, and in that way, there’s no wasted paper or laminate sheet. The question cards do look good with the color background, and there’s a different background for each quiz, but to keep costs down, I’ve also included a set with no background. My students also find reference resources really useful - download this list of all the states and capitals of the USA for free here: STATES AND CAPITALS OF THE USA REFERENCE LIST https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/resource-12507876 The resource has two non-editable files in a zipped format. EFL ESL English Fruits Flashcards Posters These English fruits flashcards / posters create an instant introduction to 25 fruits in English in the classroom. They are perfect for developing English language and literacy skills, really getting the most from classroom display. They introduce learners to a range of fruits in English from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of English words, and how sounds are represented in the written form. There are 25 fruits in either the singular or plural form using the definite article. Looking at language, and the ways it works, either similarly to, or differently from, other languages learners may already know, or are learning, helps them become implicitly aware of linguistic concepts. This is really useful for both current and later learning. It doesn’t matter if some of the fruits don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in English. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of new and unknown words from visual clues or prompts. Along the way, learners can suggest other fruits to add to the display, and may even choose to try some fruits they haven’t tasted before. The fruits are: green apples * red apple * bananas * cherries * dates * fig * green grapes * red grapes * kiwi * lemon * mango * nectarine * olives * oranges * papaya * peach * * pear * pineapple * pumpkin * raspberry * redcurrants * rhubarb * starfruit * * strawberries * watermelon * There are two backgrounds to choose from: the England flag, which I often use for English vocabulary display, or black wave. Laminate them if possible, or print on card stock, particularly if you’re going to use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too: they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to recycle your fruits posters for many years to come! Written Recall Challenge Two This challenge requires students to write the corresponding English word or phrase from a French prompt. The words and phrases are again in random, rather than category order. I encourage students to visit the Ideas, Notes and Next Steps page regularly, reflecting not only on the words and phrases they feel confident about, but also how they think their skills in listening, speaking, pronouncing English, reading and writing are developing - and equally importantly, what they can reasonably do to keep improving. We also use their notes to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is really useful, and a very popular activity with students too. Laminate the game cards if you can - they are far more learner-friendly, and the additional prep and expense is definitely worth it, as the cards will last for years. MATH CENTER NUMBERS 0-100 WORD SEARCHES

MATH CENTER NUMBERS 0-100 Ten differentiated word searches with answer keys a fabulous way of encouraging learners to engage with the written word, practicing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, focusing on Numbers 0-100, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. The searches offer a really useful learning opportunity - enabling learners to engage with the target numbers vocabulary, but also aligning with cross-curricular learning - working on comprehension and arithmetic skills in general. Learners are able to identify which direction words are located in within the grid by referring to the arrow key. As they move through the grids, their skills are challenged in a range of ways - from straightforward vocabulary searching, to gap-fill, scrambled letters and sentence questions, which feature mathematical language. Hyphens are really important in English numbers, and the grids feature these quite clearly, in order to ensure that learners can practice this aspect of language. There is an answer grid for each word search, so that learners can check their answers - or use for a little extra help if they need it. For me, answer keys are essential, as they not only provide learners with another opportunity to engage with language, but they also help them develop more independence in their learning. They’re also a great teacher time-saver - a real bonus! There is a single word search per page, portrait format. I like to ensure that text is accessible to all learners—and at this stage of their learning, it’s absolutely essential that language looks accessible and manageable. There are two formats to choose from - the search grids and answer keys as separate worksheets, and also a file with both grids and answer keys together, so that you can print each grid and key double-sided, according to which suits your classroom needs better. This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency regular verbs in the perfect tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practicing, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practice the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’. I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the German perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully. The workbook is structured as follows: Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations: Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation. Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German. Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt. Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. answer key which helps students develop more independence in their learning, also providing them with an additional opportunity to engage with the target language VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß BEIM KONJUGIEREN!

The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way. The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use carefully. These 60 task cards are perfect for developing German language skills in general, as well as for practicing and revising how to tell time in German - there are 60 cards, divided into two sets of 30 questions, full answer key and a recording sheet. The cards have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling, and really help students develop more independence in their learning, moving away from more teacher-led tasks and activities. Task cards are really versatile too - we use them not only when we’re focusing on the target vocab and structures, but throughout the year as starters and refreshers. The goal is not simply to learn and practice how to tell time in German, but also to enjoy working with language, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions in this set are a straightforward introduction to telling time a range of analog clock times, and also to working and learning with task cards - I generally work with numbers quite quickly with my beginner language students, and move on to task card activities as soon as I can, so that they can develop independent and collaborative learning skills. There are two questions: Wie spät ist es / Wie viel Uhr ist es? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Richtig oder falsch? and students write either richtig or falsch - where the answer is falsch, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation. The cards are numbered 1-60 in words, so students should recap those numbers before they work with the cards. I use these numbers reference resources, free to download here: GERMAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #1 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-100-list-freebie-1-12507282 GERMAN NUMBERS 0-100 LIST FREEBIE #2 https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-numbers-0-100-list-freebie-2-12507285 The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and time creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy creating questions for each other! The license for purchase is a single-user license only. Please read the Terms of Use. Create a fabulous Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, promoting Spanish as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of the classroom. Telling time is key beginner Spanish vocabulary, which is really useful to know as soon as possible, and students are able to familiarize themselves with how Spanish words ‘look’, and also how sounds are represented in the written form. I use these kinds of flashcards / posters to gradually introduce and work on the specific target language vocabulary we’re working on, and to provide speaking and pronunciation prompts, from the straightforward ¿Qué hora es? to ¿Sí/ no? or ¿Verdadero o falso? questions, which allow us to move to from one-word responses to more complex language, such as negative sentences No, no es medianoche, es mediodía and so on, paying particular attention here to the masculine and feminine. These are really simple ways to really try to get the most from classroom learning decor, using them as visual language prompts, as well as keeping the target vocabulary fresh in students’ minds, and as language refresh and revision by changing the decor at certain points of the school year. I like to have sets of learning displays for students, not only when they’re new to the target vocabulary, but also for refreshing and revising language they’ve learnt some time ago. Students can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating. The flashcards / posters are 8.5 x 11 (A4) portrait size. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag or plain, so 56 flashcards / posters in total. I always laminate my posters / flashcards as they hang a lot better, are easier to manipulate as flashcards, and definitely last in great condition for years! ¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!
