SPANISH ADJECTIVES LIST FREEBIE #1
BEGINNER SPANISH ADJECTIVES an instant reference resource for students focusing on Spanish adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
This list is a collection of 25 high-frequency Spanish adjectives that I work with at the beginning of their Spanish program - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize Spanish adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English, so that they can produce more complex and descriptive language as soon as possible. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 adjectives all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing Spanish vocabulary.
There are two alphabetical lists - one Spanish-English, and one English-Spanish, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag (which I tend to use as part of a vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn.

It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting not only to create a real French look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting works well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The individual banners / bunting have a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall.

FRENCH DATES DAYS MONTHS SEASONS : 36 DIFFERENTIATED TASK CARDS

The questions are entirely in French, with some translation questions both from French into English, and***English into French***. It’s important to help students understand as soon as possible that translation does not mean simply exchanging word for word, and that languages do work in different ways to express the same things.
This free set comprises the following non-editable files:
12 differentiated question cards, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper - this size allows for longer and more complex sentences or calculations in a font that is sufficiently large for students at this stage of their introduction to Italian to access the language easily and successfully, which is a really important motivator for learning. Laminating is definitely worth the prep time and extra expense, as the cards will last in great condition for absolutely years. Learning is very successful when students can engage frequently with the activity over a longer period of time - even my more advanced students enjoy revisiting and refreshing prior learning.
answer key & recording sheet - I usually have my students use their class workbooks to note answers, and use recording sheets for more formal assessment purposes

Encouraging students to speak can be quite challenging in the languages classroom, and I’ve found that even my more advanced learners can be quite reluctant, especially if the group is fairly large. I use a range of strategies to promote speaking, and idioms, proverbs and fun expressions which sound quite strange when translated literally are really popular - for example, we have regular competitions to see who can get the most idioms or expressions into dialogues and conversations. This works really well for students of all stages and ages.
The posters show the literal translation, which generally sounds very odd, such as this particular idiom C’est pas tes oignons! - It is not your onions! and the correct corresponding translation. We also discuss other possible translations into English, which helps them understand the concept of translation, and that there are potentially many correct ways of expressing meaning accurately. The posters also lend the learning environment a real French ambiance, promoting the everyday use of French.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - French flag flag, or plain.

This is a free set of 15 French speaking prompts, with suggested responses. My students have always found these a really useful learning activity. With the structured speaking prompts, they are able to develop confidence in their speaking, working independently in pairs or small groups. At the same time, they are building their vocabulary and enhancing their understanding and knowledge of***French grammar*** too.
There are 15 questions with 15 suggested responses. As students become more confident and competent, they begin to rely less on the prompt cards, and answer questions in their own way - and even ask them differently too, if their talk partner is using the answer card as the main prompt.
The questions in this freebie are aimed at advanced beginner to intermediate French students, though my more advanced students enjoy ‘going back to the start’ too, particularly near exam time. There’s a reference sheet, with all the questions and answers written out in full - I always provide a reference resource, and my students like to keep them in their learning folders for longer-term reference. When they create their own questions and answers for each other on the question and answer card template, they also find them really useful as a form of writing frame.

I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of German, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to***link it in their memory with a visual image***, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Children glue the lists into their German vocabulary books, or file them in their German vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful German vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning.
For young and / or beginner German learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to German prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with o’clock, I then move on to additional time sets.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I use for German vocabulary display, or plain.

BEGINNER ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS FREEBIE 12 differentiated task cards focusing on Italian Numbers 0-31. The cards are labelled A-L, so that you can use them together with the full set, which gives 48 cards in total. The full set of 36 differentiated challenge cards description is as follows:
BEGINNER ITALIAN NUMBERS 0-31 TASK CARDS really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of Italian numbers in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in Italian. The cards are useful not only when you’re focusing on Italian Numbers 0-31, but also as an all-year-round starter, plenary and general ‘pick-me-up’ activity, as the goal is not simply to learn how to count in Italian, but also to enjoy working with Italian, and to feel confident about doing so. The questions range in complexity and challenge in terms of language and calculation, though they are designed for advanced beginner Italian language learners, who will generally be more advanced in their maths skills.
The question card template enables students to apply their knowledge of language and arithmetic creatively and practically too - my students really enjoy putting questions together for each other. All the questions are in Italian, which really helps students develop language awareness skills, use their***prior learning to progress current learning***, and encouraging them to infer meaning from context.

LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 FREEBIE #2
LATIN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER LATIN NUMBERS & ROMAN NUMERALS 0-100 I encourage my beginner Latin students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it - we also use them for quick vocab quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced Latin learners, who’ve been learning Latin for a while - all the numbers and numerals are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible - I also have a version in my store that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across four pages in portrait format
My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string!). There are three backgrounds to choose from - color, which I tend to use for vocab display, black wave - the backgrounds do help to make vocab lists a little more visually appealing for students who have a lot of vocab to learn, particularly at the beginning of their language studies, or plain - which definitely saves on ink!

SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS FREEBIE #1
BEGINNER SPANISH SPANISH FOR CHILDREN SPANISH COLORS FLASHCARDS POSTERS Los colores en español - 8 posters / flashcards These four my favorite color flashcards / posters make an ideal speaking prompt in the Spanish classroom - I encourage students to ask each other ¿Cuál es tu color favorito? as a lesson starter / warm-up, and to select a different color every time they answer. As they learn more colors, their answers become more varied. I tend to introduce the plural form with the connective y (and) quite quickly, so that students can extend their answers as much as they possibly can - they have great fun seeing who knows the most colors, and can create the longest answers.
The key colors are: blue, green, pink and yellow. There are two backgrounds to choose from - either the Spanish flag, or black wave. Laminate the posters if possible, or print on card stock, particularly if you’re going to use them as flashcards to introduce and practise language too: they’ll hang really nicely, stay in good shape, and you’ll be able to use the posters for many years to come!
Use them as flashcards to introduce and practice language too - it’s a traditional and successful low-tech teaching method, which gives students a welcome break from the whiteboard - varying teaching methodologies in the language learning classroom is always a good idea, and I also encourage my students to take the role of the teacher too, which they find really motivating.
It doesn’t matter if this particular language doesn’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the flashcards / posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in Spanish, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in Spanish.

SPANISH GREETINGS BANNERS FREEBIE #1
SPANISH CLASSROOM DECOR SPANISH GREETINGS BIENVENIDOS BANNERS It’s great to create a new look for the new school year - I use bunting/banners not only to create a real Spanish look and feel in the learning environment, but also to promote everyday language and core vocabulary for learners of all ages. Bunting works well throughout the entire school year, but definitely has a celebratory back to school feel! The bunting has a small tag that you can clip to a line of string across the room (like a washing line!), or to a wall.
