after a request i have uploaded the alternative flashcards we use in the classroom. includes au, e-e, ue, i (igh) , ea (e) ie , oe, ey, ie as in chief, ce , ph, wh, y (e) (igh) i laminate the sound and the rhyme back to back. at the bottom corner is a clue to the sound it makes. we find it helps especially when you have two ways of making a sound using the same letters!

Swop Seats rules This game supports children reading phase 4 and phase 5 decodable and tricky words. Place the cards face down in a pile. Children to start with no cards Pick one up and read it- if the read keep it, put at bottom of pile if cant! (although we do help rad them!) This game takes me back to my youth! i have made 9 games. i am going to get the children to choose and alien, open and close the right number of times to segment the colour.. p.i..n.k / g.r.ee. n.. then choose the number on the flap in side and count again, then choose a final number, read the name and say the sound... open to check! We played this like memory game. picture cards/ aliens place face down. children turned over and found matching word.. or coloured alien to coloured word. we played it today and it was great fun- even if i did loose! kids loved it that much they asked for a copy each to play at home ! pictures of the sheets ready to use! bright , colourful and most importantly totally engaged my children.
