Here’s a 16 resource pack for the teaching of fractions to year three.
Lots of differentiation as I have children working at year 4 level, and at year 1 level! (aahhh)
Exciting plenaries and starters with an American theme as that’s our cross curricular story link this half term.
- fractions of numbers
- fractions of shapes
- adding fractions within a whole with same denominator
- ordering fractions across different denominators etc.
Enjoy!

Hi there!
Here are three full lessons of planning and resources, however I used these across the whole week, ensuring that the children have understood!
There's a test for the end of the lesson sequence that can be used as formative assessment, LO's, remember to's and 3 way differentiated work.
Let me know if I can do anything to help!

Hi there,
Here's a big pack of two-way differentiated mental maths questions.
Our school calls them '10 for 10' questions, but this is easily editable on all worksheets.
They focus on age related expectations in Maths, and each week has a different focus.
Some of these focuses include:
Finding 1/2 mentally
Finding 1/4 mentally
Subtracting
Adding
+ and - involving money
3D shape properties
Times Tables practicing etc.
I hope this helps.
If you need anything, please message and I shall fix/assist as soon as I get the message.

Hi there,
There are two booklets, an extra information sheet and a plan attached to this pack.
This is four day's worth of work, and forms a good basis for assessment on children's confidence and ability in fractions work.
Included are lessons focusing on:
adding and subtracting fractions (same denominator)
ordering fractions (same denominator)
recognising equivalent fractions
finding fractions of amounts
finding fractions of shape
In this small resource pack, you will receive an A3 sheet on which the children must add their own pictures and drawings. There’s a list of tasks down the right side, and the Learning Objective is clearly outlined at the top of the page.
If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to contact me directly and I can help you any way you need.

Hi!
Here’s a pack of a few assorted Maths plenaries that use the ‘Maths Language’ method to get children to explain their answers. I get my class to use the sentence starters ‘I know that’, ‘I believe that’, ‘I predict that’ or ‘I know this because’ to embellish their work. They’re pretty spectacular at it, now!
Topics covered:
Finding fractions of a number
Adding and subtracting fractions
Fractions on a number line
9 x table
Relationship between multiplication and division
2 digit x 1 digit multiplication
Plotting points in one quadrant
Angles
Time
Word problems
End of Year testing is stressful for everybody- teachers and students alike, so I created this ‘Methods Revision’ sheet to assist the childrne with recapping items that may be on there.
Enjoy!
A single worksheet on calculating compound area and a plenary document for children to explain what the dashes on the lengths of sides mean (equal length).
Enjoy!
Hello everybody- here’s a resource where children must move a camel around a board game by answering questions surrounding the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times table.
Any questions, shoot them my way!
Hi everybody.
Here’s a resource for you to use at your leisure. It’s an Egyptian themed piece of work pitched at a LA Year 4/HA year 3 ability cohort. It is differentiated and focuses on comparing masses and multiples of masses in kg and g.
Perfect for cross-curricular learning steeped in ancient Egyptian context!
Here is a set of differentiated Egyptian-themed word problems for addition.
The children can collect the gems based on how many questions they collect!
Dear All,
Here’s a small resource that involves sorting angles between acute, right and obtuse.
I set it as a homework, but it’s editable for use in lessons too.
Hello all!
Here’s a 3-way differentiated resource for getting children into groups of understanding using column subtraction. I use this with my year 3 and 4 children, and they love getting into role to complete it.
The task involves children interviewing for three different jobs in Ancient Egyptian society: High priest, Scholar or Pharaoh. The job they get depends on their answers to the questions- you can discuss that, whilst there was a heirarchy, without people in every role, society wouldn’t exist.
This is a sheet that I used for homework with my high-ability Year 3 cohort. It involves the children using maths language or talk for maths sentence starters to explain their reasoning as to whether questions, such as the following, are true or false.
When you simplify 3/9, the new fraction is 1.5/4.5.
The numerator is the total number of parts.
Children can choose which questions they answer, giving them more ownership and allowing for self-differentiation.
LO: To explain answers with mathematical evidence.
