A way of getting children into reading - once a child has read a book they will collect a sticker for each one they read. When they reach 8 stickers they will recieve a small prize (I have a box with scented pens ,glitter pencils, stickers, funky rubbers etc. in for the children to chose from). The book reviews are used to prevent children just saying they have read a book when they may not have, so they have to think about the story line, whether they may recommend the book to a friend and who their favourite character was!
Enjoy :)
Inspiration from another teacher via social media led to these! I thought they may be useful as a template for other teachers to edit as you please! Mine currently read as “Reading Forest”, “Maths Working Wall” and “English Working Wall”. A4 size two to a page.
After reading and researching Jane Considine and her Fantastics system within “The Write Stuff”, this inspired me to create a vocabulary vault.
Inside are sections for the 5 senses, as well as asking and action verbs, adverbs, colours and many other areas designed to help extend a child’s vocabulary. Each section has positive and negative examples all sourced through a thesaurus and internet research.
Enjoy :)
