These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

Full Day English Language Booster Foundation - For Boys!

(3)
This is a full day session that I have put together aimed at D/C borderline students to help them to get top of Band 3 answers in the AQA Language exam. I was teaching a class of Pupil Premium boys, so the sessions are chunked, repetitive and feature really clear structures and methods to help the boys to see the clarity of how to tackle the paper with competitions and cooperative learning to boot!

Year 11 Writing Accurately - revise the basics!

Believe it or not, this very simple lesson is a reminder to D/C borderliners on how they should be writing accurately. It's to hammer home the very basics that make the very big differences in their writing marks - 2 hour lesson.

Luckily, we will never be in the position again where I have to teach 2 specifications at the same time to the same class. However, this is the scheme that I created last year when this was the approach adopted by the Head. Although these lessons are aimed at both specs, the full scheme is more IGCSE skills and texts than the AQA. My AQA scheme will be uploaded as a separate entity. 2 of these texts, I've uploaded before but the whole scheme makes sense when uploaded together. Remaining lessons are uploaded separately.

8 Lessons KS3 based on AQA Writer's Viewpoint Question. Writing scheme of work.

(1)
This is a Key Stage 3 Writing scheme of work that consists of 8 full lesson PowerPoint's and culminates in a writing assessment that mirrors that AQA Language Writer's Viewpoint question for the new specification. Each lesson uses reading skills to help pupils to investigate a variety of texts and to build up an information bank on the topic of the question - which is about teenagers. There are no references to levels / assessment within this scheme so any teacher can add their own assessment model or mark with the AQA Exam criteria.

2012 Death Penalty Lesson 3 - Bias

(1)
This is a scheme of work that I have revisited and updated for 2012, to include all APP frameworks, persuasive techniques and analysis of the Death Penalty. The scheme looks at murderers and results in a question about whether or not we should bring back the death penalty. Pupils end by writing a di More…scursive essay, as if they are under controlled assessment conditions, as I am trying to prepare year 9 for their GCSE years. If you want every lesson, type in '2012 Death Penalty Lesson Miss R' and they should come up in a list. This one covers analysis of bias.

Titanic Literacy Unit Lesson 2

Titanic Literacy Unit Lesson 2 This is one of the lessons from a unit of work on The Titanic. The unit explores the Titanic and uses this as the context. Pupils learn and engage with it and develop their literacy at the same time. Ideal for Histpry lessons as well as English and targeted at year 7 level 4 learners. There are other lessons that I've uploaded from the same scheme of work.
