These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

This is one of serveral lessons that i have uploaded from this year 9 scheme. The premise of our year 9 curriculum is that we start to get pupils used to the GCSE controlled assessment model by teaching them the skills that they need to pass Lang and Lit. This scheme covers Media and Non Fiction and More… this lesson can be taught alone or with the others. In this lesson, pupils look at the ingredients of texts.

2012 Death Penalty Lesson 5 Reading AFs PEA

This is a scheme of work that I have revisited and updated for 2012, to include all APP frameworks, persuasive techniques and analysis of the Death Penalty. The scheme looks at murderers and results in a question about whether or not we should bring back the death penalty. Pupils end by writing a discursive essay, as if they are under controlled assessment conditions, as I am trying to prepare year 9 for their GCSE years. If you want every lesson, type in '2012 Death Penalty Lesson Miss R' and they should come up in a list. This one covers the reading assessment focus'.

If you type 'spoken language study Miss R' into a resources search at the top of the screen, they will all come up in a list. This one is a lesson that helps the pupils learn the technical terms that they need.

This may be more suitable for younger pupils as it was aimed at level 2 and 3 readers in secondary - helping them to pick out tecniques that writers use.
