I have already uploaded the Woman In Black scheme for writing that I created last year. These were the lessons that i added to it to vary it for year 9, where they are being taught the skills of redrafting and rewriting in preparation for completing planning - so they are taught using the AQA sheets and taught the skills that they will need ti use independently when they start GCSE.

This is a full lesson with various types of texts in, that ultimately gets pupils to write to describe a photo. Images are not included - you will need to pick some up off google of interesting destinations.

his is an old one but there is still merit in it. From when SATs were still part of the year 9 tests, this lesson can be adapted into a written assignment when studying Macbeth. Its about how the Macbeth persuades the killers to murder Banquo.

This is a lesson to structure the writing task mock - the teacher can go through both of the questions prior to pupils attempting them so it provides an opportunity for class planning / scaffolding before pupils attempt the mock.

These are two lessons that are tied to the AQA specification for English Lit and the Relationship cluster - quite basic but a starting point for how to attempt questions. They don't have to be taught together.

These are a series of games / revision aids and exercises that can be used to help support KS3 pupils with Grammar basics.

This sheet allows pupils to track the development of a key character throughout the pay. If you use several for the play, one for each character, pupils can make notes throughout the lesson and keep track of the progress they have made and what they have learnt.

This is another example of work completed in year 9 to prepare pupils for assessment at GCSE - so it is more structured than controlled assessment allows for. However, this is based on the old specifications with an ora assessment for reading - so will need to be tweaked. Using a range of different activities, this assessment picks out key language fro the prologue and makes up a full morning of activities for English students.

This is a booklet that can easily be adapted for any English department / teacher to use to engage pupils with their own progress after assessments. Pupils keep the booklet with their work so that they can chart their progress through the whole of KS3.

This is a year 9 lesson. The images are all of my own and are my daughter when she was much younger. The idea is that pupils try to guess who the objects belong to and explain why - it's about using stereotypes to address a reader.
