These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

This is a full lesson that is suitable for pupils working at level 4 to 5 to work through in the absence of their Specialised teacher - ideal for cover in the middle of a scheme of work on narritive writing; worksheet based.

Edexcel English Language GCSE Paper 2017 - Unit of work for Paper 2

(1)
This is a full unit of work, that consists of 15 lesson powerpoints, complete with all resources. Created initially with new questions for 1,2,and 3 that have never been seen elsewhere (not SAMs) and then utilising the Edexcel SAMs, showing students how to attempt each question, allowing them to practise and using mark schemes for peer / self evaluation. There are useful techniques provided for each and every question, including time management. The unit has been taught successfully and adapted accordingly. Obviously any teacher will need to adapt lessons in line with what they manage to cover in any given lesson but each ppt. is designed for a full one hour lesson. All of the questions are fully covered and deconstructed so that the teacher can guide students through what they need to do - including the writing section. After this unit, students will be fully prepared to attempt a full paper so that you can diagnose areas for development.
Marking Code for all KS4 English pupils

Marking Code for all KS4 English pupils

When marking, I use this code. Every child has one in their book and I can write the number of the target that it relates to - As the lesson starter, after I've marked, the pupils write in their own targets to show that they&'ve acknowledged them. Simple, personalised, saves me hours on marking!

Making The Band Lesson PP Review Analysing

(1)
This is one of several powerpoint lessons that I have uploaded on Media and Non Fiction Texts, ready to teach with it's resources. The lessons are contextualised in the remit of 'making a band'. You will wish to adapt and differentiate for your own class. They can be taught together to reach an assessment outcome but all are suitable as standalone exploratory lessons. This one covers concert reviews and how they are written.

Nobody Has A Private Life lesson 9

(1)
This is part of a full scheme of work - all powerpoints and resources have been uploaded. Powerpoints are all separate uploads, saved by lesson numbers 1,2,3 etc. There are 9 lessons in total. Also uploaded as part of this section are resources. All lessons are saved under 'Nobody Has a Private Life'. This scheme is quite old, and will need some adapting as it was written in my PGCE year. However, it's a good starting point and pupils have very much enjoyed it over the years. Also has strong citizenship links!

Death Penalty Writing Scheme lesson 3

(1)
This is one lesson powerpoint in full from the full scheme of work that has been written. Also uploaded is the full scheme of work with the resources as well as one by one lesson Powerpoints for the scheme, that have all been uploaded separately as 'Death penalty Writing Scheme lesson 1' etc, Written in my NQT year, it will need some updating to include APP criteria and AFL, but it appeals to all learners and has been very very popular over the years; a great starting point and it includes many citizenship strands. Enjoy!
