Every week, we have 1 reading lesson with year 7 in English. I now like to underpn them with an objective so that their reading for pleasure has a technical focus too. This is one of my reading lessons and the focus of this one is on adverbs.

I've used this as a starter to help pupils to highlight gothic words.

This may be more suitable for younger pupils as it was aimed at level 2 and 3 readers in secondary - helping them to pick out tecniques that writers use.

Apprentice Scheme - Analytical Writing - resources These are the remaining resources of a series of 6 lessons that are modelled on the Junior Apprentice. Pupils are encouraged to invent their own Ice Cream Product and launch it . They write a pitch for their product which can be assessed - either against FS level 2 criteria in English or NC APP levels. There are 6 lessons altogether - all uploaded separately and then the resources are uploaded as a separate upload together.

Functional Skills lesson on letter writing

Using Punctuation Kund Fu - make up your own moves to each punctuation symbol - this lesson gets pupils to proof read work - you can add any paragraph that you want to change the topic.

Lesson 1 Analysing Texts This is one of two lessons that are about analysisng texts - the context is credit awareness so ideal for Citizenship too.

A very basic starter for a lesson - pupils put in the punctuation before using the sentences tow rite about their own weekend.

Gruffolo Full SOW Kagan techniques Lesson PP This is one of 6 lessons that I have uploaded. I have uploaded each lesson with the appropriate resources. The full scheme was judged as Outstanding by OFSTED and I use it with level 3/4 writers. Designed to introduce Kagan structures and cooperative learning, the lessons use the context of the Gruffalo to get pupils to write their won story to Primary School Pupils. Pupils love this work!
