These resources span my career; from my period of teaching unqualified, through to an AST of English & Director of Teaching & Learning. Although my specialism is English, I have taught GCSE Citzienship, Language and Lit, Media Studies, Maths & History. I have also taught all of those at Key Stage 3, so there is an eclectic mix here. As the main trainer in my previous school, I have uploaded many insets and training session powerpoints too.

This is another lesson that ofsted have judged as Outstanding. It contextualises the poem Havisham - offering a functional way into it by setting up pupils as social workers trying to work out what has happened to the woman and why this poem is her suicide note.

OfSted Outstanding Literacy All lessons Starter: With a new shift in focus for the 2012 framework that means that teaching and learning can only be judged outstanding if literacy and numeracy are encorporated across the curriculum, I am making a daily starter / settler activity that can be incorporated into all lessons. These mini activities are examples of a literacy activity & there is a tutorial before each. These are going to be made daily, so I'll upload them é I hope they will help other schools to boost literacy teaching. This one is about correct language use.

Paragraph Structure and Use: Lesson Starter

A few slides that can be copied and pasted into any full lesson powerpoint in order to build a language starter that deals with how a paragraph should be structured and when a new paragraph used. Ofsted's clear focus on literacy make these an important part your lesson.

This lesson is designed to help pupils think about their sentence structures. It is a full lesson PP with objective, starter, intro, development and plenary. Utilises reading image work and kinaesthetic activities to support sentence building. Based on the Titanic and part of a larger scheme of work. Pupils love it and it has proven results! Enjoy!

This is the first section of a whole scheme of work on Of Mice and Men, I created it this year, with attention to making sure that the Ofsted 2011 guidelines were being expemplified. The lessons structure reading the book from before reading to after and each of the early lessons covers different sectionhs of the book. They can all be taught togetether or you could choose to dip and pick as each can be adpated and can standalone. I can olny upload 20 bits to 1 resource feed, but the rest are on here.

This is a full lesson powerpoint with all resources embedded at the end. I just used this lesson to secure my next job and it was judged as outstanding at interview. The lesson uses progress indicators, independence and cooperative learning to enable pupils to teach each other features of spoken language. Great for controlled assessment and teaching skills / knowledge of spoken langauge.

his is an old one but there is still merit in it. From when SATs were still part of the year 9 tests, this lesson can be adapted into a written assignment when studying Macbeth. Its about how the Macbeth persuades the killers to murder Banquo.
