Autumn, Harvest, Thanksgiving: Your students will enjoy learning about pumpkins and finding out some of the facts they never knew about them. The workbook starts with the life-cycle of pumpkins from seed to soup and carved shell. Students are then challenged to think about why certain things, like rain, soil, etc… are good for growing pumpkins, find out about some botanical facts and finally are made to think about uses for the various parts of a pumpkins. There is a crossword puzzle at the end of the workbook and an answer key is provided separately. The workbooks - UK English version and US English version, are included as pdf files, each taken from both A4 and letter formats. This resource pack also includes picture and word cards for students to match up and put into the right order prior to completing the tasks in the workbook, if you so wish. A board game is included and will serve as perfect activity to consolidate your students’ knowledge of pumpkins. It’s always good to know where they come from and where they end up! (the pumpkins, that is…) :) Please kindly respect the time it took me to construct the enclosed sheets. Therefore, please be fair to me and do not pass this resource to colleagues unless you or your school have purchased the school licence for this resource too. Fruit and Veg: Students are required to describe pictures before answering 2 questions in more detail. These 4 worksheets are ideal for cover, independent work or to fuel discussion between learning partners. Although the worksheets are numbered, this is purely for teacher/student reference as there is no particular order in which they need to be completed. How about laminating these worksheets and let groups of students work on them to create a poster with a copy of the picture in the middle and their answers written around the edge? Then ask each group to present their findings. This could result in a good class discussion… Now, are tomatoes actually a vegetable or a fruit? Why can or can’t bananas grow where you live? Please kindly respect the time it took me to construct the enclosed sheets, so please be fair to me and do not pass this resource to colleagues, unless you or your school have purchased the school licence for this resource too.
