On 15 pages of information about school life, the guide will explain the ins-and outs of your school to both parents and new students. Each topic listed at the start is hyperlinked to its own section in the document. A topic mentioned in another section is also hyperlinked to its own section for more information. At the end of each section there is a link to go back to the top. School names are referred to as — School, so this can be replaced using the ‘replace’ function in Word. This document is intended for upload to your school website once it has been adapted to your school. For obvious reasons, I am including the Word version of this document. Get your learners talking about kitchen utensils and equipment. Learners are encouraged to name the many illustrated items, describe their use and discuss what skills they will apply when using them. The presentation contains 10 slides and starts by showing all items used in the games. Further slides concentrate on a few skills at a time before bringing all items together again at the end. There is a reminder to ‘think safety’ on each slide. It is left to the teacher to decide how to exploit the slides which are kept simple. A vocabulary list contains the terminology for the items in the pictures. This can be used to differentiate for weaker students. The board game and cards are available in A4 or A3 format. The board game is self-explanatory - The square with the question mark can be determined at will. AQA EDEXCEL This 7 page workbook takes students through different aspects of food preparation skills which they are required to demonstrate at GCSE, i.e. knife skills applied to fruit and vegetables as well as meat, fish and alternatives like tofu and halloumi, other preparation skills for fruit and vegetables including the prevention of browning, spoilage and food poisoning. This is an ideal resource for learners to complete in class or as revision, homework or cover work. Tasks include matching pictures to skills areas, applying thinking and knowledge, explaining applications of skills, discussing and explaining utensils and equipment and finally a research task. The 35 picture cards and 35 word cards / skills labels can be used for differentiation, i.e. cut up the cards and allow learners to physically match the terms to the pictures prior to completing task 1.
