Art / DT - Our Local Area Planning (6 lessons) Suitable for KS1 This lovely unit of work is great alongside a local area study. The 6 lessons cover a variety of techniques and mediums. The final 2 lessons have a geography link, as the children look at similarities and differences between their local area and Africa. The key questions can be seen below: How can we document what a leaf looks like? What is a sketch? Can we use clay to make a pair of wellies? What colour are wellies? What do the colours in Kente cloth patterns represent? How do people in Africa make furniture? Resources needed: clay, sculpting materials (optional), paper, pencils, crayons, linen cloth (optional) and felt tips.
